Does anyone know if this goes against your count?

I got locked out after 2 attempts at my security questions – my student loan just changed names earlier this year and I have two vehicles with my name on it, so each attempt I must have answered something wrong. Just a heads up – the security questions are ambiguous as to the specific loans you have out. Now I am locked out of Experian for 30 days! EEK! Hope I didn’t flag myself!

Becareful, whenever there is an inquiry in your credit score, it DOES affect your credit score. The more the number of inquiries, the lower your score. So everytime you apply for a credit card to save 10% at a store etc, it lowers your score. A CHANCE to win 250, may affect your score, so that you may not qualify for a lower loan percentage when you apply for a house/car etc loans, than those with a higher credit score. In general, the fewer inquiries in to your credit scores, the higher your scores. If you want to know your credit score, do it yourself. Call the 3 main credit score companies, you are allowed 1 free credit score review a year, and when you do it yourself, it doesn’t count against you, versus you let another company do it. JUST FYI

I actually believe you are allowed 1 free credit REPORT per year, this does not include a credit SCORE on it typically… at least that has been my experience…

There are soft inquiries that do not affect your credit score, i.e. all those done by the companies that send you credit card offers. When the credit is pulled for your own information that’s a soft inquriy and will not affect your credit rating.

This does not appear as a hard inquiry. I pulled up one of my free reports afterwards and it was already listed under “inquiries only you see”.
