Does anyone know if these dolls are able to be moved? In the picture it looks like they are statues and not maneuverable?? I want something that they arms and legs move, not just hard plastic not moveable.

    • Ashley

you can move them. Pretty stiff but maneuverable.

      • Kathy

        ok, thank you!!

        • Darci

is an our generation Deluxe doll movable

    • Tracy

they are very much like American Girl. Arms and legs move and eyes, too. I got one of these for my daughter when I thought she was still too young for the AG but she loved it, took good care and now this doll and the AG share a bunk bed. She likes them both equally.

      • Jessica

Thanks for giving us a review! Could you tell me, has the hair on your daughter’s doll stayed neat and “combable”? We got my daughter on of the BFC Ink doll and the hair went crazy on it! Would love to get her one that is like the hair on AG dolls. Thanks!

        • Tracy

She is 10 now so her dolls are well taken care of. The hair is still easy enough and doesn’t come out too easily. I don’t know how they’d stand up to a 4 or 5 year old.

        • Amy

My daughter got one of these when she was 5, she took good care of it, but over time the hair was all matted up and messy. Greta doll, but terrible hair.

      • melonie

        thank u

    • Jan

from what I read in the description these dolls are “non-poseable”. Target does sell some of that OG brand dolls that are poseable, but as far as I see these are not the poseable ones.

  2. rach

    All white. πŸ™

    • Lauren H

My daughter was very sad about this too. She wanted an African doll as a sister to her American Girl doll (that looks like her), she saved her own money for it. We are a trans-racial family and were very disappointed about the lack of diversity in the Our Generation dolls.

    • Dallas

They had African American Dolls in store at my local Target, all on clearance. I just bought one yesterday. They were $17.49 though but still a good deal I think.

  3. zoe

yea, sad that they are all white. i live in a rural area with not a lot of call for other race dolls, but i always see them on clearance and am a little sad….i only have one son, but if i had a daughter, i have no qualms about buying a darker-skinned doll….

    • MommySpendsLess

I find it a bit ironic that you’re okay with being a bit sexist (no dolls for your son) while simultaneously commenting that not including a black doll (when only 4 are on sale) is racist.

      • Dee

Not all boys actually want a doll to play with… I don’t think she is trying to be “sexist.”

      • Sheila

Wow, really? She never mentioned the word racist and you have no idea how old her son is-he may be well past doll age.

      • Rebecca

I agree with Dee. I don’t think Zoes being sexist. Nature really IS that way. Our son is all about cars, trucks, etc. & has NEVER cared about stuffed animals or dolls, although we’ve always made them available to him. On the other hand, our daughter has been doll CRAZY since she was an infant. I find it very fun to see this natural difference between the sexes manifest itself on its own. People put too much pressure on trying to dissolve the differences between boys and girls these days. (BTW, I personally never cared much for dolls when I was a little girl even though my mom definitely provided them for me & my sis, but we loved our Barbies for action figures. I’m now more into dolls since my DD loves them. :P) Also, my hubby had 2 brothers and a sister. None of the boys cared about dolls but their sister was doll crazy. πŸ˜‰ )

        • MommySpendsLess

Fair enough. I was probably being a bit overly sensitive. I’ve been a Hip2Save follower for a very long time and I guess I’m just tired of innocent deals ending up in a controversy. The “sad” and unhappy faces just seemed a bit much to me, especially when they only had 4 dolls on sale, which is a pretty small sampling of Target’s overall product selection.

(As an aside, my 3yo daughter isn’t into dolls much at all but loves superheros and stuffed animals.)

          • Rebecca

Yeah, that 1 sad face from a completely different commenter was such “overkill”. lol. As a fellow mommy, though, I understand occasional over-reacting. No worries, and I hope you have a nice day. πŸ™‚

    • Corina

There are “Alejendra” and “Abrianna” dolls. Though not on sale, but they appear to be culturally diverse.

      • zoe

Zoe here: my son is only two, so too young for these sort of dolls, and the few dolls (cabbage patch dolls) he does have are usually at the bottom of the toybox not ever played with. i do buy whatever doll i like for my little sister who is three. it wasn’t meant as a sexist or racist comment. but my son is all trucks, cars, trains, and the like.

  4. Adrienne B.

just got the Robyn equestrian doll! I had bought Jessica-Anne at the end of last year and put her away for Christmas this year. My daughter has two of these dolls already and they never leave her side. They are very well made and a heck of a lot cheaper than American Dolls! Thanks Collin πŸ™‚

  5. Jenny Hofmann

Thanks so much! I am a stay at home mom and my husband is a teacher- the budget is tight and I have not one, not two, but THREE little girls wanting American Girl Dolls. Just ordered three of these for Christmas for less than half the price of one AG Doll. Thanks again- I often land deals on your site, but not sure I have ever stopped to say thanks for your work. πŸ™‚

  6. Renee

FYI – They also have similar dolls at Jo_Ann fabrics that you can get for around $12 using a 40% off coupon. I’ve seen a blonde, redhead, brunette, and a latina one there. They sell the clothes too.

    • Rebecca

Thanks for the tip! I love Jo-Ann’s and get their email coupons, but I didn’t know about their dolls. I looked them up & they have great reviews. πŸ™‚ Here’s the link to them for anyone else interested: https://www.joann.com/kids-teachers/dolls-accessories/

    • Renee

the dolls at Joanns don’t come with fancy clothes though. They come with a basic dress but they sell lots of clothes/shoes/accessories. Last year at Christmas, they had a box set of clothes (4 or so outfits with shoes) that was $40, but I got it clearanced out in Feb/March for $15!!

    • Corina

At Michaels too. With coupon, they probably are a great price. With them being 18″, maybe other brand clothes may fit.

  7. Charity

Thank you so much for posting this! I just got Robyn equestrian doll and Sandie for my daughter’s birthday in October. They’re going to be so happy!

  8. Melani

Thanks! We have Robyn already and my little girl loves her! Just ordered her Sandie for Christmas! Its never too early to start πŸ™‚

    • Rebecca

      Beautiful doll! $12.24 – awesome!

    • Cam

Thank you so much for that link. My daughter will love it for her birthday.

  9. skstockton

Thanks for posting this! I have two girls begging for AG dolls and it’s just not going to happen. Ordered them each one of these for Christmas! I appreciate all your tips!

  10. brittney

Had sandie in my cart and even payapl checked out and it went sold out so bummed my daughters bday is sunday πŸ™

    • kema

That doll blog is seriously creepy

      • Rebecca

I turn the volume off, which helps. πŸ˜› I like seeing the reviews, though, ’cause I have a 1.5-yr-old baby/doll crazy daughter and am clueless about what’s out there. I’m studying up. lol

  11. CB

Thanks! Just got two. My older daughter wants an american girl doll, but no way am I paying that much for a doll, I would be afraid to let her play with it. My 3 year old always wants the same as big sister and with a price like that I can do it. I got two of the Robyn in the jeans (they have to be the same or they fight ;)) because my girls both have blond hair and blue eyes. Fun, now if I can just wait till christmas.

  12. betsy

The playwonder Tessa AA doll is only $12.24 on target.com in the clearance section.

  13. jess mart

ok so is there a african american our generation doll?? I really dont understands!

  14. Emmie

American Girl is MUCH better!!!!!!!! I bought a Our Generation doll for my 7yr old daughter at Target (The doll’s name was Abrianna) and she opened her and wasn’t happy, but said it was a “okay” doll. When she tried to brush the doll’s hair, a chunk of hair came out so she tried brushing it harder. The doll ended up with a HUGE bald spot on the side of her head. The doll would not fit in any doll clothes and she was not poseable and had very loose limbs. In a few days one of her arms fell off. The doll was made of cheap material and plastic. Eventually my daughter became so frustrated with the doll she threw her into the bottom of the toy box and forgot about her. Since my daughter apparently hated the doll, I brought the doll to Goodwill and bought my daughter a American Girl Doll for Christmas 2010 (This was in 2010) and she opened the American Girl Doll and screamed with delight. She tore open the wrapping paper and after removing the ties and bands that attached the doll to the box my daughter hugged her and said she was beautiful. The doll was Elizabeth Cole, who became archived that year along with Felicity Merriman (Elizabeth is Felicity’s best friend doll) and she loved Elizabeth so much she started asking for Felicity so Elizabeth could have her best friend. I knew I should get Felicity for her since she was archiving that year. I purchased Felicity for her and she was so happy and loved her as much as Elizabeth. And she continued loving American Girl Dolls. I brought her on a trip to the American Girl Place New York in February 2011 for her fifth birthday, where she chose Kanani, the Girl Of The Year 2011. That November, I booked the American Girl 25th Birthday Cruise for us and she had the time of her life (Did I forget to mention my daughter’s name is Ellery Grace? I’m been talking so much about her and haven’t mentioned her name). That December I brought her on a trip to the American Girl Place Los Angeles for Christmas where she chose a historical named Emily Bennett, who’s historical doll Molly Mcintire’s best friend doll. In 2012 she really wanted McKenna and my parents gave her McKenna in February 2012 for her sixth birthday. In that year Ellery Grace also recieved Addy, Kaya, Josefina, Ruthie, Julie, Ivy, MAG #24, a Bitty Baby, and a pair of Bitty Twins. A sweet little girl like Ellery Grace really deserves American Girl Dolls. She’s been such a sweet older sister to my younger daughter Rose who I gave birth to in January 2011 and she’s great at helping me take care of our golden retriever Lovie. American Girl Dolls are poseable, their limbs are tight, their hair doesn’t fall out, they’re made of fabric and vinyl, and they come with books that teach valuable lessons about growing up, friendship, family, animals, history, and more. The price is worth it. The smile on your daughter’s face when she recieves a American Girl Doll is worth every penny. Her most recent American Girl Doll is Saige, the Girl Of The Year 2013 who I bought her earlier this month for her seventh birthday

    • melonie

thank u now i know what to buy

  15. Mrs Collins

Im a little concerned that while searching for dolls in your collection which I would love to have for my daughter who’s 6 & such a princess she loves dolls… I notice there arent any different ethnicity of dolls such as American American! Will there ever be diversity?

  16. Donzetta Ragsdale

Our Generation —- would you please get some accessories for Abrianna and Nahla does not need to GARDEN-THANKS—Richard Boykin an American citizens—-a lot of people have brought this Doll story to my attention—I don’t care why or for what reason this was done–This is America let’s fix this problem, the world looks to us to solve their problems — let’s solve our own first–We could be spending this time to support the French who are hurting–we have the refugee problem that has come to a stand still, because the wolves came in with the sheep-and other matters of great importance—-“LET’S MAKE AMERICA GREATER THAN IT’S EVER BEEN”

I would have to say that my favorite grater that I own is one of the graters listed above in your article…NORPRO 339 STAINLESS STEEL GRATER. I use this item a lot and have no rust spots or dullness. I also own a box set and a one plane grater for quick access.
