As I’ve mentioned a few times now, Dollar Tree just started accepting manufacturer’s coupons on August 26th. For all the details about the Dollar Tree coupon policy, check out this post. I highly recommend that you print a copy of the Dollar Tree Coupon Policy found here (scroll down towards the bottom) and bring it with you to the store.

Note that not all items may be available at your local store (as product inventory does vary greatly). Also, please be sure to check the sizes of each item before you head to the register to be sure that the manufacturer’s coupon does not exclude the size of the item found at Dollar Tree.

I also want to acknowledge that while it seems some of you are having a wonderful shopping experience at your local Dollar Tree, others are not having a great experience and have had issues using coupons etc. All I can suggest is that you contact Dollar Tree customer service by phone at 1-877-530-TREE or via the contact form here to share your positive and negative feedback.

I am loving my local Dollar Tree stores! I never used to go there because spending a dollar per item seemed too high now that I coupon! 🙂

Don’t forget the cereal coupons too!

  2. amberwaves

Where is this dollar tree?! Mine doesn’t have any of this stuff! I’m jealous =)

    • Rachel

I agree! My Dollar Tree doesn’t have a huge selection of name brands. I still get great deals there but I wish there was more to choose from.

      • squarejellybean

Here also in Ca I went the last time and couldnt find much. I saw lots of no name brand stuff ,maybe they will bring in some more name brands when they realize that couponers bring in more business. 🙂

    • Toni S.

Same here. My store in south central Illinois has very, very few name brand items. We had a Dollar Tree and a Deals. The Dollar Tree bought out Deals and kept both stores open for awhile, then moved into the Deals and closed the other Dollar Tree. Other than the occasional dog toy and birthday card, I buy very little at Dollar Tree. The few name brand items they do have are very small packages and at $1 they are expensive.

      • tbits

Sounds like Pekin & I really hate it they won’t take any internet printed coupons !

  3. Candice Jaehn

The good stuff goes fast, even people that don’t coupon clear the shelves when things like brand name cereal pop up on the shelves. I’ve seen people take cases out of the store without even using a single coupon. You need to find out when your store gets there shipments and you need to be there when they are stocking the floor.

  5. Nikki

Lovin’ my DT here in Kennesaw, GA. They are fab about taking my Q’s-will even let me do mult trans on the 4-limit ones.
I found the cutest retro lookin’ tacky orange garland there. Perfect for our oldies Halloween in the office!
Oh, and I’ve been using the Efferdent to clean the toilets-fizz,fizz,fizz 🙂

    • Kristen

Does Efferdent in the toilet really work?? How many tabs are you using? I tried it once (with just one tab) and it didn’t seem to make any difference. Most of my “grime” is right at the water line, so Efferdent in the water/bowl didn’t do any good. Nothing I do seems to do any good, even scrubbing it with a brush or the Magic Eraser. So frustrating!! :p

      • Kidsallgone

Not having a good “visual” of cleaning the toilet bowl w/the Magic Eraser LOL!

        • Nikki

Here’s a trick I learned a long time ago-eliminates the need for those scrubbing wands with the $10. box refills-YIKES!
I take about 3 plastic shopping bags-the ones from Publix/WM etc. and put 1 inside the other so I have 1 thicker bag. I spray or throw in some kind of cleaner in the bowl & grab a folded over paper towel, put my hand inside the bag & kind of wrap it close to my hand & arm so it’s not flopping in the breeze-grab the papertowel and in I go. Swishy scrub & I’m done. Turn the bag inside out, releasing my hand(like when you use them to pick up doggie doo) and toss the whole mess-including the paper towel, in the garbage. Simple and quick.
All the other surfaces in my bathroom are cleaned using cut up rags to cut down on paper towel use.

        • sara

I cut like 1/4 of the the magic eraser off and used just that small piece to clean the toilet ring. It worked well. I was happy to just throw away that small piece and not the whole thing.

        • Kristen

It wasn’t pretty, but I was desperate! (Didn’t work anyway, so my trouble was for nothing!) Luckily I had those yellow rubber “kitchen” gloves so I didn’t get too dirty (plus I had already sanitized the toilet; just trying to get the well water ring out). I hate cleaning bathrooms!!

      • Meri

Kristen, try extra fine sandpaper…you’ll be amazed at how well it works! Be sure to plunge some of the water out first, it’s much easier.

      • Megan

We have well water, which is put through our water filtration system to remove iron and whatnot, but we still get a ring at the water line and sometimes a “hard crust” (some kind of mineral deposit) that is nearly impossible to scrub off. I found this stuff called “The Works” that cleans it perfectly. It is not natural or low chemical at all, which is what I try to stick to, but it is the only thing I have found that works so I use it. It’s pretty cheap too. I got a two pack at Lowe’s the other day for $2.98.

        • Janelle

We had the same deal Megan and I tried the pumice stone (also at lowes or menards) and was amazed at how well it worked. It got rid of the mineral ring.

        • Annette

My DT sells The Works toilet clearner!!! works great!

        • Kristen

Thanks for the suggestion! That’s our problem as well – even when I clean it, because of the well water, there’s a ring around the water line. I will try The Works! 🙂

      • mel

I had a problem with a thick yellow ring around my toilet bowl. I tried everything… You name it – lime away, Clorox tb cleaner, Lysol tb cleaner (the blue bottle), scrubbing bubbles, pine sol, bleach, baking soda/vinegar, method, 7th generation…. Even scrubbing with a pumice stone didn’t work. Then a few wks ago at target, while in the cleaning aisle, I grabbed.a bottle of Lysol tb cleaner that says “complete clean with lime & rust remover” when I got home, I followed.the directions for tough stains by.removing the water from the toilet bowl as much as I could (I used an old plastic cup) then added ALOT of the liquid all over the bowl and let it sit for 15 minutes. Used my toilet bowl brush and flused,, the tb was spotless!

      • Nataly

I put half a bottle of white vinegar (got a lot free with Q’s) let it sit overnight without flush or using toilet then using rubber gloves scrub with aluminum foil if u don’t have any scrubbers

        • Dwagnfly

I love this whole thread! Collin should repost all this great toilet cleaning information as a featured post! :0) I’m going to copy it and save. Thank you all!

      • Misty

        Hi Kristen,
Try using a pumice stick, usually found around the toilet bowl brushes at the store… it will take away that line without damaging your surface.

  6. J

My dollar tree has a sign hanging saying it will not accept any coupons that make an item free. 🙁

    • Nikki

Then they are in violation of their own coupon policy from corporate.

    • mb

i called asked manager was told balance cant go below 0 and i said so i can use a dollar q on a dollar item and she said yes so u may try again

  7. pauline

Is that really a good deal on campbell soup?

  8. Tilla Ham

I just want to caution people to be extra extra careful when purchasing food at the dollar tree. We have had 3 bad experiences, and one way too gross to even share. Check expiration dates, but also examine the food and make sure it doesn’t have any extra friends in the package. I still go to dollar tree, but I have limited my purchases to color books and balloons (they have the best balloons)

    • Kidsallgone

Oh dear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another not-so-good “visual” LOLOL!!

      • Kay S.

You have made me laugh twice now. Your comments are hilarious!

      • Nikki

Then what are you about to say about my toilet bowel cleaning technique LOL?

    • Megan

One time I discovered all these weird little bugs in my pantry and was totally grossed out. I asked my pest guy (I have arachnophobia and earwig-o-phobia so I “invest” in my mental health and have someone treat the exterior of our house, which has been working awesome for 5 years now) about it and he said they were probably “Drugstore Beetles” that hitch a ride into your house in food and sometimes medicines. I threw out every open package and other stuff and thoroughly cleaned it top to bottom and managed to get rid of them (knock on wood).

    • Dwagnfly

If you have room in your freezer; I have heard that freezing items like flour, cereal, etc destroys flour weevle eggs. I’m not sure for how long, but I would think at least a month. I freeze my flour (no matter where I purchase it) and have had no flour weevles.

  9. susan

I was looking for the Brut fragrance coupon and I saw the following on your page.
“Brut Fragrance or Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant coupon found in the 9/9 SS”- what does 9/9 SS mean and how do I get to the coupon? Thanks.

    • Megan

It was in the SmartSource coupon insert on Sept 9.

    • Christina

9/9 is the date. SS is for Smart Source coupon insert. These are the inserts that come in newspapers. Hope that helps! 🙂

    • Valerie B.

SS is the Smart Source coupon book that comes in the Sunday paper and the 9/9 is the date which was last Sunday’s paper. Just look through the coupon book for the coupon. Hope this helps! I had to figure out all the abbreviations at first too!:)

      • sandra

My Dollar Tree in central Florida wouldn’t let me use the Brut coupon because the picture on the coupon showed the green-bottled Brut products and their store had blue-bottled Brut products. I tried to show them that the coupon said “ANY” Brut product but the cashier said she couldn’t honor it. Good luck to the rest of you guys! 🙂

  10. chichi

You know I got a redplum coupon booklet in the mail a few days ago and everything advertised in it had a coupon except for the maybelline products. It has two full page ads but no coupon is this common? I kind of feel like I am missing out on something other than just the coupon.

  11. Clarissa

My dollar tree will only take internet coupons if they are printed on a whole sheet of paper.

    • Megan

That is pretty ridiculous. Most cashiers I have seen don’t want to stuff an entire sheet of paper in the register.

  12. Valerie B.

I have found that all Dollar Trees are doing their coupons different and they don’t fully understand their policy! The one closest to my house only lets me use 1 manufacturer coupon per order(per item) period! If I have 2 coups for toothpaste and buy 2 toothpaste, they only let me purchase one and use one coupon! They are confused as to what an internet coupon is and ask me about each one if it’s an internet coupon because they can only take 2 per order! It’s frustrating but I just go to one that’s further away and they take as many manufacturer coupons as I have in one transaction! The cashier said the manager has final decision on the policy so it depends on the manager at each store! Has anyone else ran into this where DT’s in the same city do coupons differently? Overall I am very happy with getting free items, even if it’s just one at a time! LOL!!!!

    • Missy

Same here…I tried to buy 2 Efferdent in 1 transaction and at first they couldn’t figure out how to enter the coupon, then the manager told me i could only use 1 q per transaction EVEN THOUGH I pointed out on her policy print out that I could use 2 IPs for 2 items. Plus, they have to manually enter each q into the register…it took them 20 minutes just for me to purchase 2 items in 2 separate transactions, so i would hate to see what will happen if I had more stuff!!!

  13. BHW

Just got back from my DT and the cashier said I could only use one coupon. I calmly asked to speak to a manager and that got cleared up quickly 🙂

The last time I went to a different DT and the cashier made me ring up every coupon and item that went with it in separate transactions. Oh so very painful. And the people behind me in line were not at all happy.

It seems that corporate is asleep at the wheel and ignores all of the comments that have been coming their way. It’s a shame.

  14. nicole

Nikki i love your toilet bowl cleaning technique thats the same way i clean mine. Thanks collin for the matchups.I have to go far to find that good stuff at the dollar tree.my store thats close gets cleaned out by non couponers.

  15. esther

My dollar tree doesnt carry hardly any name brand things. Sad!

  16. Liz

I hope the DT next to my home start to acquire more of the brand names. It barely has 1 or 2 brand name items in the store. I don’t tend to shop there unless Im buying party things mostly. I will shop there more often if they have additional name brand stuff. It would be nice.

  17. Carrie

This is a little off topic, but may be important to some: The DT by me (LI, NY) carries Colgate toothpaste, but it is manufactured in China. The Colgate that I buy elsewhere is not made in China, so if this matters to you for your health or the health of your family, please keep it in mind.

    • Jen

Matters to me. Thanks for the heads up!

    • Joy

A lot of toothpaste is made in Mexico as well. That’s why you can get it so cheap or free after coupons in grocery, drug or discount store like Target or Walmart. Itry to look for toothpaste Made in USA or Made in Canada.

    • Tammy Moore

That issue was in the news maybe 1 or 2 years ago and they said that it isn’t really colgate and that it would not have the same health standards when made. i don’t remember all the details but there might have been a dangerous ingredient in it.

  18. Susie Kennedy

The very last line in their policy states “Management has the right to refuse any coupon or otherwise limit quantities” What the heck? Why even have a corporate policy if thats the case? Lol! My nearest Dollar Tree is too far for me to HOPE they take my coupons. 🙂

  19. dani

I have two comments. First, I do not buy food that is made in China if I am able to find out it is made in China and am leary about stuff made in Mexico so alot of the stuff you think is a name brand (like the Colgate) should be examined because China does not enforce or even care about their food products like we do.

Second, I have found that ANYTHING I can throw in the freezer, I do. If it does not come in a can or a glass jar and it won’t be ruined by being frozen for a few days, I throw it into the freezer for 3 days or more. It kills the bugs that come in the package already! I had a huge infestation of moths that came in from one or two that got in from my back door and I had to wash EVERY can, pot, etc. in my kitchen, pitch every box or bag because they were everywhere. Then I had to paint every inch of my pantry (figuring that I was painting over any potential eggs) but I still had the moths show up for 3 days! Finally when I didn’t have anymore, I put the remaining stuff back and put cedar blocks on every single shelf at both ends. That was 4 years ago and although a moth will get in my house, they no longer go into my pantry and I can kill them as I find them.

  20. Pat

When I went to Dollar Tree yesterday morning in Ohio and tried to use coupons, the manager said that they will not accept computer generated manufacturer coupons.

  21. Becky

Has anyone used coupons at any of the DT in Springfield, MO? What was your expierience?

  22. Amanda

I asked about coupons the other day when I was getting envelopes for my home business (Davenport, Iowa) & the cashier was extremely rude. She said the item as to be for the exact same item (duh), and that they take internet coupons but not ones that you print yourself. What the heck, what other kind of internet coupons are there. She said they had to come directly from the manufacturer. Well the manufacturer is not going to spend money to mail you coupons. I agree that our Dollar Tree does not carry very many name brand coupons, but the other day I got Ore Ida Steam and Mash mashed potatoes for $1, and they are usually up to $4 each. The also had bagel chips, those are my favorite and are usually very expensive. The also have name brand canned veggies that are less them $1.

Last Christmas I bough huge bottles of off brand soda from them and paid the .05 deposit but when I went to bring them back to the grocery store they could not take them. Has anyone else had this problem. I would have taken them back to Dollar Tre but they do not take them back.

  23. Kate

I went to Dollar Tree and tried to purchase the Red Solo cups. The clerk would not take the coupon as the picture on the coupon showed a bigger package. I said if you read the text there isn’t a size limit. They wouldn’t take it anyway. I was able to purchase the Cheerios and Uncle Ben’s. The Dollar Tree is right next to one of the local Rite Aides so it makes it convenient.

  24. Amanda C.

Wow, I was the FIRST EVER customer to use coupons at the Dollar Tree in Clinton, MS! (It took forever).

The Zicam is an awesome deal, I had just spent 10 dollars on Zicam at Wally!

One thing to note, however, is that the expiration date on the Zicam is 11/12, so expiring pretty soon. Probably how they can sell it for 9 dollars cheaper than Walmart.

    • Kristen

I went in Hattiesburg ms and they were awesome! Took every coupon, no questions, even though they had to manually enter them..they even apologized for being slow because it was new to them. I love my dollar tree lol!!

  25. Andrea

Question?????? I have a coupon for 1.00 off any Disney or Marvel item and was hoping I could use these towards the plastic zip bags. However, coupon states good only on the purchase of products indicated. Because it doesn’t show the picture of the bags does this mean I can’t use them??

    • Joy

That coupon is only god for the Disney or Marvel vitamins. A totally different company makes the vitamins then the one who makes the bags. So no you can’t use that coupon.

      • Joy

        I meant “good” not “god”

  26. Ketryna

I found scotch pop-up tape and refills at the dollar tree today and there is a 1.00/1 any scotch pop up product coupon in the 8/05 SS. I bought 1 dispenser and 4 refills for free. You gotta love free tape…

    • Ketryna

Oh and at my DT she took all 12 of my coupons and didn’t say a word. I bought 5 of the pop-up tape things, 5 brut deodorants and 2 alka selzer plus. She just double checked the wording to make sure it was for the correct product, which it was and then I was on my way. I wish others were having a better experience.

  27. j

My dollar tree was a freakin pain they wouldnt take any coupons that were 1 off for example the post cereal basically yelled at said no coupons that mke items free 🙁 im pretty pissed

    • j

O and this was the manager to

  28. Nicole

I have a question, if I have a Deal$ near me, will they accept manufacturer coupons as well since they are owned by Dollar Tree or are the coupon policy Dollar Tree exclusive? Thanks!

  29. Holly MC

The one where I live is not coupon friendly at all. They diffidently need to learn about coupons. The cashiers never know how to do it and the manager didn’t even know their own policy. They go off this little hand written piece of paper that none of them can read. I had the policy in my hand and showing them what their policy states and they say they are only allowed to go off that piece of paper or they get written up. It doesn’t do much good if they can’t even read it. I’ll maybe try it again but far down the road.

  30. Dwagnfly

I saw the Reynolds wraps at my Dollar Tree last night. I came home and checked the coupon database and there is a coupon for .75 off but it was in a mailer. So, if you received one in the mail, it might work out for .25 Reylolds foil wraps.

  31. Sophia

Another good deal – My DT had Nabisco cookie boxes 2 for $1. Add the 0.75/2 coupon that gets you two boxes of cookies (White Oreos, Chips Ahoy, or Nutter Butters) for only a quarter!!! You can’t even bake cookies that cheap!

  32. Katrina F

I got lucky and found the 10ct fruit roll-ups at my dollar tree and with the $1/2 q from the boxtops website made it $0.50 a box for full size box!

  33. Robin

I went in search of most of the items listed on this post, but the only item I found were the last 2 boxes of the Cherrios cereal. Good deal, but disappointed to have only left with that. 🙁 Also, the cashier had to get the manager because he did not know how to enter my coupon. Oh well, they are learning I guess.

  34. Amanda

Ok everyone please put up with me…. I need to vent.

I went to Dollar tree today thinking that I would give them a second chance… well that was my first mistake…

They took down all of their signs saying that they now accept manufacturer coupons, so I asked a cashier (before I scoured the store for the item posted above) to see if they had them and I guess I missed the little sign posted on the light pole of the register and the cashier tapped it and rudely asked if I knew how to read…. Ugh here we go. I politely said yes but I haven’t had my caffeine yet so I missed that little sign.

Ok so I should have taken that as a sign that I should probably not try to use coupons there today but I pushed forward I only found the Colgate so I picked up three, got my papers went to the checkout and there she was miss friendly, here we go round two.
It was my turn to check my stomach doing little flips, because she gave me a look a anger and I politely said hello and she rang my order and I gave her the coupons for the Colgate mine were only .75 off 1, 4 oz or larger. The Colgate was 4.6oz so I’m good, right… Oh was I wrong, the cashier tells me that this is not toothpaste. I politely point out on the package where it state’s what’s inside is indeed toothpaste, and that the coupon states ANY COLGATE TOOTHPASTE 4 OZ OR LARGER. I couldn’t help myself because now I’m just done with the situation as the people behind me are getting impatient. I ask her “Well if this isn’t toothpaste… what is it?” She does some sort of growl moan thing and grabs the coupons from my hand and takes them. Then I pay and she takes my money and throws my change in the plastic bag and crumples my receipt and tosses it at me.

I try to be the bigger person say thank you have a great day. She rolls her eyes. The man behind me says to me as I walk out, ‘Good Girl, don’t take that SH** from her she was wrong. I think I might start using coupons here too.’ 😉

I will be contacting corporate about this and I am done using coupons at Dollar Tree.

  35. TL

I found the Advil PM & Efferdentat my Dollar Tree but the cashier only took off $0.50 per coupon even though I had the full $1 MQ. Is this their policy? From my understanding I thought we can use the full $1 MQ.

  36. Rebe

I feel your pain too. Today I tried to use coupons at DT and the cashier told me she couldnt accept it because L’oreal and L’oreal Paris are different brands…This was after the manager had already said “no” because the coupon was a “copy”. It was a printable from Redplum.com…ugh >(
