Well, as most of you know, 9/16, was the start of the new Walgreens Balance Rewards Program! Please head here to read all about it.

If you are a newbie to Walgreens shopping, make sure to check out my Walgreens Store guide. And if the coupon jargon below starts to confuse you, take some time to read through the Coupon Newbie section.

Also, as most of you know, Walgreens released a corporate coupon policy. You can view the policy here. Be sure to print a copy and bring it with you when you shop in case any issues should arise. You can also now print Walgreens Instant Value Coupons online here.*NOTE: If you can find the monthly coupon booklet in-store, save your printer ink.

Want to create your own custom printable shopping list?!
Simply click on the printer icon to the right of the post title and then follow the instructions to easily remove portions of the weekly deals that do not interest you. Then print and take with you to the store!

**My favorite deals are highlighted in red! 🙂

    YAY!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      🙂

  2. Mrspurple

How does the program work? Does one get a card? I wasn’t sure how they keep track of our points….

    • stacy

you get a card – keep in mind they deduct when you have coupons..

      • guest2

So one works against the other – fewer points if you use coupons?

        • Guest

I think I would rather use the coupons to get the discount and forfeit the small amount of rewards I might get.

        • wags ba

That is not true coupons do not and will not affect points only walgreens gift cards and store credit will I have used coupons on all my point items and have recived them all

      • Amy

They do not deduct when you use coupons
I got the deo this week, paid with a coupon and got all the points.

      • Mrspurple

        Thanks!!!
I signed up online (I think I did!), are they going to mail the card?

        • Guest

The next time you go into a store, just ask the cashier for one and she can connect it to your account online.

          • Mrspurple

            Ok, thanks!

    • Ronni

I don’t like this points program…..I just don’t have the time or energy to try and figure it out….I’ll stick with CVS and Rite Aid!

      • Brenda Marie Bayus-Spriet

same here, dont like either, love my cvs…

      • CW

I have 6,000 points so that should be $5 and it didnt even prompt me to use it today! They put my card in the register and it never let me “use” the money I earned. I am not impressed at all. I’m wondering if you will only be able to use your reward $ from points once a month? Waste of my time.

        • Serena

did you spend $5 or more? I already have $20 worth of points and it doesn’t prompt me unless i’m close. I’ve noticed it also doesn’t ask every time but the cashier should be able to pull it up.

on the other hand, it is still a new system and i noticed this morning it went offline a few times because so many people were signing up at the same time. that could also be a reason it didn’t prompt you.

        • mel

my cousin who works for wags, said the registers have been acting funky since the rewards program went live. if the register was offline, then it wouldn’t have prompted the cashier about the reward. Anyway, give it some time to work out the kinks!

          • Shannon

So if I have $20 in points from previous purchases and only spend $17 on said day, can I use $17 in points and have $3 left over or do I have to use all the point in one shot? Why oh why do they have to change things up? couldnt they have just given more rewards out?

            • mel

you have to spend the full amount. if you use a $20 reward on a $17 purchase, you’ll use the $3. from what I’ve been reading on other boards, its best to try to roll the points on RR deals and then use RR’s on points deals. Or, save the points up for christmas gifts.

            • DeAnn

You must use them in $5 increments. So you could have used 15,000 pts ( $15 ) and paid the balance of $2, or just spent another $3 so you could use all $20.

        • Marcia

You can ask the cashier to hit the redeem point button if it doesn’t promt you! They always have the ability to hit that button for you!

        • campanita

I told the cashier that I wanted to use my points since the beginning of my transaction, I had 15,000 points and use it as $10 to pay for my Proglide, then I wanted to do another transaction to use the other 5,000 points but the computer would not let me use it. The cashier called the manager and explained to her about the situation, then she said that we can use BR points just once a day, it made sense to me but anyone know if this is true?
She said she learnt this from the class they took about the card program.

          • Marcia

I haven’t heard that before…. I will check and get back to you I am working at walgreens and am on breach ill let you know in a few hours:-)

            • wags ba

U can use as many points a day as u want I did 3 seprate transactions and used my points just fine not sure why it wouldn’t work for u

  3. Kristin

Collin I’m confused about the vivid white… In the pic u have posted it says $1RR but u have it for a $2.50RR. Lol

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Whoops! 😉 I had the wrong picture in there – just updated! You will get back a $2.50 RR.

  4. Heather

Sorry to be a stickler Collin but you have the Dial body wash coupon listed as $2/1 when it’s $2/2 😉 Thanks for all your hard work you make my weekly shopping a breeze!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oopsie! Thanks for catching that – updating now! 🙂

  5. Newbie

I’m new to using coupons and register rewards. I just had my first disappointment, i had $17 worth of register rewards expire on me (9/17), asked 3 stores but non would take them.

    • Mary

Sorry to hear you missed out on your rewards. I missed out on a $5 reward from my local grocery store a few months ago. Gotta be careful or the good deals are not so good.

    • Shannon

It happens, specially when you first start out. Dont get discouraged. Things get easier.

    • Aly

Ouch! I’m sorry that happened to you. But now you know, and I’ll bet that never happens again!

      • mel

I’ve had that happen too. Unfortunately Walgreens doesn’t take expired RR. I read this tip a long time ago and it has been very helpful with keeping me organized –

I write the reward value on my monthly desk planner (Dollar Tree or the $1 Spot @ Target!). I highlight UPs in Blue, ECBs in Pink and RRs in Yellow! I can see at glance what’s going to expire and plan my deals accordingly! As I use the rewards, I scratch them off.

        • Tracey

That is a great tip mel thank you!

        • Crescent City Couponer

You could also try using the calendar function or app on your phone. Even basic phone have calendars that work well for this.

        • jessica

          what is UPs?

          • Lisa

UPs are the rewards you get from Rite Aid.

    • holi

it happened/s to me to me still~ especially if I get sick kids.

    • Tilla Ham

i once had $44.00 in RR’s expire and i was so broke and completely disgusted with myself…but i understood the stores not taking them

    • Sarah

I always ask lady at cosmetics. She is usually like, “if it rings up, i can take it”

    • campanita

Newbie, do not get discouraged by this, I’m sure that this has happened to almost all of us at one time(I’ve had to make some late night runs to spend my soon to expire Rewards). The next time, check the expiration date. The only bad thing that sometimes, Walgreens doesn’t have good sales to spend the rewards on. In that situation its better to buy something that you or a family member will use, instead of losing the Rewards.

    • Jaime

I’ve had this happen at cvs and wags. I’ve always asked for a manager and 99% of the time they are able to manually enter it and override the system.

    • Steph

I keep my receipts and don’t use the products that were purchased until I have redeemed the Register Rewards from that transaction. That way if my RR expire, I can return the products for a refund. It’s not ideal, but it’s less painful than losing that $ you were counting on getting back!

  6. Amanda M

Will this scenario work, it says spend 25 on participating Pampers products, does Enfagrow count?

Buy 2 Pampers jumbo pack diapers (swaddlers, Cruisers, or Baby Dry) 2/$20
    Total = $26.49
Use the $3/2 Pampers coupon found in the 8/26 PG
Use the $5/1 Enfamil Product coupons found here
(you can try to use another $5/1 coupon, but it will need to be adjusted down)
    Pay $18.49 (using 1 $3/2 coupon and 1 $5/1 coupon)
    Get back a $5 RR
Final cost only $13.49 for all 4 – just $3.37 each! Awesome price!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Nope… my bad! 🙁 I totally read the ad wrong. The Enfamil is actually not included in the RR deal, just the Pampers diapers and wipes. Sorry about that.

      • Amanda M

Its okay! Thank you for all the deals 🙂

  7. Teresita

Last week I bought halls cough drops. Tried to use a coupon and rr and they said I needed to buy one more thing because the $1/2 q counts towards both cough drops. So I think with the baby formula bogo, and 2q’s it won’t work… At my store anyways

    • mel

but that’s different. when you use RRs, they count as manuf coupons and coupons that are off 2 or more will attach to all items. So if you had 2 items and tried to use the RR AND $1/2 the register beeps b/c the $1/2 attached to the 2 halls and the RR didn’t have anything to attach to. if you would have gotten a small filler, the RR would have attached to that.
for a BOGO sale, you can use 1 coupon per item as long as the value of both coupons doesn’t exceed the price of the main item. The 2nd cpn will need to be adj down, but that’s only if you have a smart cashier who knows what they’re doing!

  8. Laney

The enfamil coupon is no longer available 🙁

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Darn! 🙁 Just updated.

    • dawnyel

If you get the enfamil checks/coupons in the mailr, my walgreens allowed me to use those in place of the printable coupons. I had $4 off any enfamil formula so I only paid 2.50 for both packs. 1.25 each. still a great deal, and i have gotten $5 off coupons for enfamil in the mail before too.

  9. Brittany

    Thanks Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You are welcome!

  10. Susie

If I do the scope and crest in 1 transaction, will I get the 2 rr, even though they are both PG products? Thnx!

    • DeAnn

I bought both and got back both RR.

  11. jessica

Ok so with this new rewards program… If I buy 2 of the Playtex Tampons, will I get back 4000 points, or just 2000? Like do they have a ‘limit’ or how does that part of it work?! Can you but as many Playtex as you want and get back 2000 points for each , or can you only buy 1 and get the 2000 points? Also in something like this do separate transactions matter or not?? And if you do something with register rewards and still use your card, if you do a separate transaction than will you still get a register reward since you used your card?

    • Anna

Someone correct me if I am wrong, and I may need a confirmation, but the ad I see states 1,000 points on one. However, to answer your general question, I bought 4 packs of gum this past week and did receive double the points.

      • Jennifer

You’re correct, I didn’t look at the ad and I was unpleasantly surprised when I bought 3 and only received 3000 pts instead of 6000. Oh well… still not too bad of a deal.

    • Cheryl

The new rewards programs – You can buy all you want on one transaction. You can also use mfrs. coupons. I did it today on the Clear shampoo (had $3.00 off each coupons). You will get the points for each that you buy. You can also use your register rewards in these transactions. But it is still one mfr. coupons per product.
Ex: Bought 2 shampoo (ea. 1000 points)
      Used 2 mfr. coupons
      Rec’d: 2,000 points
If i wanted to use RR with this I just had to buy fillers for the number of RR i would use.
The RR will print if you buy something that gives a RR along with a product that gives points. You should get both.
      Hope that helps!

  12. Jenn

I have coupons for the Scrubbing Bubbles One-step kit/refills that were included in the boxes of the kits I bought on sale when they were a new item. The coupons are $3 off a kit and Buy one refill, get one free. If its possible to use both coupons, you would get the one-step kit and 2 refills for $6.99. I know Ive read so-so reviews on this product but it works for me.

    • Christa

I have the same coupons and was wondering the same thing. I believe you can do this:

Buy 1 Kit and 3 refills
      9.99 for the kit, 1 free refill, 2 refill @ 3.99
      Use 1 $3/1 kit coupon
Use 1 $2/1 kit or refill coupon
Use 1 bogo free refill coupon (-3.99)
      = all 4 items for $8.98?

      • Christa

Does anyone know if the deal below would work? I don’t think so b/c the bogo coupon should attach to both refills, meaning I can technically only use 2 coupons and not 3, but I wanna make sure. Thoughts?

        Buy: 1 kit @9.99, 1 free refill, 1 refill @ 3.99= $13.98
        Use 1 $3/1 kit
Use 1 $2/1 kit or refill
        Use bogo free refill (-3.99)
        =$4.99 for all 3 items?

    • Kimberly

I don’t see y not, all you can do is try.

  13. Amber

I was wondering the same thing about the Brach’s coupon. Thanks for pointing that out!!

  14. couponpfann

    Collin,
I still have a $1 coupon off of 1 Popcorn Indiana bag from All You Magazine. So I don’t know if you might want to add that to your scenario, but with that coupon they will be only $0.99 a bag which is an awesome price for that brand! My husband LOVES Popcorn so he will be so happy when I bring a few bags home 🙂

  15. lizzy

i already obtained 40,ooo points and cashed in for my 50 bucks..i had fun shopping

    • Christa

40,000! That’s awesome! Last week definitely was a good week for points/deals. I got 18,000 points and cashed them in for $20 off. It felt great to bring a $20.79 oop total down to 79 cents!

  16. Sarah

The points thing is okay, but lots of bugs to work out and I think that majority were in my transactions today!! LOL! Stood in line for over 45 minutes checking out with a 2 year old! She was a trooper!

  17. mackyjane

Hershey’s king size drops are not $0.59 🙁

    • kate

Yep. you are right. Just tried it this a.m. Also, there is no Sept. coupon for that item.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn! That stinks they are not included in the sale as they meet the size requirements. 🙁

Also, the Walgreens coupon I was referring to is the $0.50/2 Hershey’s King Size Candy 2.1 to 5 oz and these Hershey’s Drops Candy King Size Cookies ‘n’ Creme 2.1 oz should work for the coupon since they are a King Size Hershey’s product AND meet the size requirements for the coupon.

    • Diane

      How much were they? Thanks!

  18. kate

There is no coupon for Pledge in the Sept. coupon book!

    • Christa

It’s at the bottom of page 19. There’s a picture of Drano, but the coupon is for Fantastik, Pledge, Windex, Shout, or Drano.

  19. Shanna Whiting

My Walgreen had lysol toilet bowl cleaner on clearance for 74 cents. I used the dollar off two lysol coupon and got them for 24 cents. Wow what an awesome deal!

    • MamaKat

Which coupon was this? I had a coupon for $1 off 2, and our Wags had it on clearance for $1, but the coupon was for a specific Lysol and it didn’t qualify. Not sure if I missed another one.

  20. Leighann

Just wondering if anyone has a new link to the Enfamil Toddler Coupon? When I go to print it says no more prints available. 🙁 Thank you Collin for all you do!!

  21. couponpfann

Collin, the Playtex Tampons are only 1,000 points not 2,000 points.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Whoops! Thanks for catching that – updating now!

  22. MamaKat

Not sure if it was mentioned already in the comments here or on previous posts, but in addition to the Gilette deal for $9.99-$4 Q= $5.99, receive $4 RR, you can also use the BO Gilette Razor, and GO Mach 3 Razor Free coupon that was in the September P&G insert I believe. So I snagged two razors with two cartridges each for $1.99 in addition to the other deals I got.

    • A.R

Thanks for sharing.. Do I need to have walgreens card to do this deal?? TIA!!

      • MamaKat

I just checked the ad and it does say “with card” above the deal (guessing to get the RR). I just type my phone number in with each transaction which is linked to my account. I have yet to link my account to a card in store.

        • Denise

Hi MamaKat, Can you tell me with that razor deal you did, how many rr’s did you receive? Was it 4 or 8RR;s? Thanks for letting us know about this!

          • MamaKat

This is the deal I did:
Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor System $9.99 = $4 RR
Use the $4/1 Gillette Fusion Proglide Razor coupon found in the 8/12 RP
*And I used the Buy 1 Gillette razor or disposable razor, get 1 Mach3 razor FREE*
            Pay $5.99
            Get back a $4 RR
            Final cost only $1.99!

So in the end I got about $20 in razors for $1.99- I only got the $4 RR back.

  23. Claudia

Where in the September savings book is the coupon for $1/2 ziploc bags? I can’t find it… Seems to me like Rite Aid is looking better for these this week.

  24. Jai

My store does not have Nescafe Memento Caramel Latte 2/$7 🙁

  25. Guest

Does anyone know where there is a coupon for Reynolds Aluminum foil? Couldn’t find the one Collin mentioned in her post.

  26. Aimee

If you look in the coupon database, there is a $3/1 off any Enfamil product. I used 2 $3/1 coupons today and got them both for a total of .49 cents.

  27. Mario

for the proglide razor, can u get a Mach 3 and the ProGlide razors and use both coupons from the P&G 8/26 ?
-5 off Gillette ProGlide Razor wyb Gillette Razor or Disposable Razor
-FREE Mach3 Razor WYB Gillette Razor or Disposable Razor

    • MamaKat

I used the Buy one Gillette Razor, get one Mach razor free and the $4 off Gillette Q.

  28. kylie

You’d think the rep on the Brach’s facebook page would have better grammar. Lol

  29. Laura

I did not get any balance rewards for the 30 dollar purchase. They would also not accept the brachs coupon. Walgreens is so frustrating!

  30. lmwynn

There are coupons for $1 off one Preparation H OR 2 Chapsticks! They were in one of the newspaper inserts and I remember printing one off the RedPlum website a while back, too. Makes each Chapstick 50 cents!

  31. lmwynn

Is the Glade Expressions fragrance mist still giving a $1RR? How long does that promo last for? TIA!

  32. hla809e

Does anyone know if you can use a Glide floss RR to pay for a Scope RR deal?

    • hla809e

I didn’t know since they are both P&G..

  33. Andrea Jones

I can’t find the coupon in the September walgreens book for ziploc???

    • Jackie

I was trying to find this too. Anyone?

  34. an

my kids respond very well to hylands and i went to print the coupon and it looks like there is no limit. that always makes me nervous (if wags will accept them if they all have same barcode) that is what a cashier told me once….. at any rate, how many is acceptable print? i only did two but i am thinking ahead into the winter cold months (my preschooler’s class is 100% sniffly! already) thx for any suggestions w this one.

    • an

nevermind, i can’t even get one to print! i get the print preview screen but then my printer just sends out a blank page 🙁

  35. ros

My walgreens said if i use my points to pay, i will not recieve any points for the things in that transaction. Is that right? they said they were still learning, please tell me they are wrong!!

    • MamaKat

You cannot earn points on a transaction that you are redeeming points on. I know some will use their points on transactions to earn register rewards and then turn around and use the RR to purchase items that earn balance points.
