  11. Jacki

It’s so lovely to see a post about happy Halloween but no condolences sent to us suffering the effects of Hurricane Sandy. Sorely disappointed in you…..I won’t be visiting h2s anymore.

    • Betty

WOW! After everything Collin and her crew do for you, I am so ashamed for you. You are so self pitying, that is the worst post I have seen on here in a LONG time. You are so unappreciative. Of course we are all so thinking of the tragedy this storm has caused for lots of people but honestly…! I bet Collin has something up her sleeve like she always does to help those in need but you cant even let her keep the spirits happy around here for the holiday. You are a truly sad and unappreciative person, who obviously STILL EVEN HAS POWER! or else you wouldnt be on here complaining anyways. I personally am glad not to have you in our happy community of Hip2Savers! WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS…. !!!!! My gosh, you are awful.

      • Tina in east Texas

        AGREED! Well said, Betty.

      • Jacki

Not that I owe you an explanation, but apparently cell service is a foreign concept to you, and thankfully my local news company has supplied monile power charging stations so we can charge our devices. You obviously have no idea what people are going through and I simply meant it would’ve been nice to have something up that said thoughts and prayers to those who are dealing with the aftermath. Get off of your high horse and have some respect for those who are dealing with the devastation rather than calling me pathetic .

        • Nat

I agree with all the other ladies here. I live in New Orleans and we’ve been devastated by way more severe hurricanes, like Katrina for instance. Never did I ever expect sympathy or attention from anyone. The media is covering Sandy way more than it did for Hurricane Isaac that sat still on millions of people on the Gulf coast for 15 HOURS.

So please get off YOUR high horse and don’t expect anyone to feel sorry for you with the way you’re acting. I was stuck in a house with no air conditioning for almost a week and it took over two weeks for New Orleans to be back up and running after Isaac. I made the most it, you should do the same!!

I’d like to thank Collin for her tremendous efforts with this site. Please keep up the good work, we truly appreciate you.

        • Amie

And you choose to check a money saving blog using the “power ” you were given?
I am from the east coast and have weather many lockdowns and lost quite a bit living less than a mile away from where Katrina made landfall. We were military at the time, barely renters insurance and I certainly didn’t get angry at anyone who didn’t tell me I’m sorry you were in the hurricane etc? Seriously, we had very little help, what help we had was specifically from family members, and one of their workplaces, who gathered clothes for me and my kid. We are still in 30,000 debt from a loan to pay for our stuff we lost so stop complaining and suck it up and be thankful that you or your family are not apart of the number of those who have lost their lives in the storm.

        • Betty

I thought you werent coming back?!

          • Betty

Oops, not you Amie, i meant that for Jacki. And Jacki how do you know we arent at home praying for those who deserve our prayers and hoping for help for those affected? You shouldn’t ask for prayers or well wishes… it just doesn’t make sense. Do you think we are all dancing around, happy that people are in trouble and needing help?? I’m not on a high horse or even a midget pony, I just think you are unappreciative and its sad that you feel the need to bring your negative attitude to a positive post just to try and guilt Collin and her followers into feeling bad for saying Happy Halloween as if you know they aren’t already thinking of how awful some people have it right now. And maybe you should let someone who has something more important to do than come on here and complain use the electricity you are wasting. Lend someone who needs to check on family use your mobile device… Go help someone who needs help, since you are obviously ok right now and clearly capable of complaining, so stop wasting your energy on that and use it for something positive. Just saying.

    • Acacia

As evidenced by your post, you clearly have electricity and internet access and the time to browse blogs. I am certain there are many others that are far worse off than yourself that would appreciate the brief moment of levity that comes with laughing at a cute Halloween photo. I am sorry if you have a hardship, but being needlessly negative helps no one in the long run.

    • shannon

Jacki your comment totally inappropriate here and it is your loss if you do not visit Hip2ASave again. Judging another for bringing cheer to others is sad. You would never had made a comment such as this if you have been a long time follower of Collin’s. She is known for helping others in need and you criticizing her is an indication that you have no idea what she has done for others over the years. Maybe instead of making that comment, you should have sent condolences yourself to others who are obviously more devasted than you without power or internet.

      • Ashley57

This is bizarre. This is a couponing site – Collin never posts about specific tragedies all over our country – if she did that, she would have a post about it every day!!

        • Rebeca

I am speechless…Is it a coincidence that when Collin brings back her “lemon incident” there is yet ANOTHER reader criticizing her? From my heart Collin, I hope you are able to pass the negative comments and realize how many people you help EVERY DAY. Here at home I talk about you as if you were a close friends, my husband teases me about it. THANK YOU and HAPPY HALLOWEEN to you and your sidekicks! 🙂

    • Anna

I would personally delete the comment myself. The negative energy is not worth my effort. Instead I will say prayers for those devastated by Sandy BUT wish Collin and her husband and family a wonderful Halloween as well. Giving cheer to others is a wonderful gift.

If they are available, I would suggest people view the videos that Collin made when she took supplies bought by the people who follow her blog in devastated areas of the South. Very poignant and touching that I remember. Brought home how devastating those storms were. My thought is give Collin some credit because she has demonstrated extreme kindness to others in the past on many occasions.

      • Anna

“If they are available, I would suggest people view the videos that Collin made when she took supplies bought by the people who follow her blog in devastated areas of the South.”

Should read “If they are available, I would suggest people view the videos that Collin made when she took supplies bought by the people who follow her blog to the devastated areas of the south.”

        • Anna

Sorry the video link did not work. I looked at the Hip2Help Tour videos again and I am overwhelmed by watching videos! Collin actually was there seeing and living the devastation. My thoughts are I have seen devastation in my life time and to me it is not something I want to personally be a part of again. I do want to help!!!! I think Collin did more on her Hip2Help Tour than most people do in a lifetime. Not everyone can do that and no matter how big or small the help that a person offers another, the gift is great. We all need to come together and pray, meditate, give, and receive to help all those in need but especially Sandy victims at this moment. Giving cheer is important to and accepting each other for our short comings as well.

    • Laura

      Rude! Self pity is pathetic!

    • Ang

I am sure there are many people here that went through Sandy. I did. But I do not feel a sense of entitlement to the sympathy from Collin and her team, or anybody else. Should everyone express their sympathy to you? You are not the only one that went through Sandy. People are dead from this storm. People lost their homes. You are alive and complaining because someone posted a Halloween post on THEIR BLOG. Give me a break lady…

    • Nicolette

That was so unneccesary and rude! I live just a few blocks from the beach in NYC and lost the entire first floor of my home and my car floated away! Im not looking for sympathy! Im just glad that my family is safe and that the damage wasn’t worse! No one owes you their condolences! Get over yourself lady! Thank you for all you do Collin! I could definitely use to save all the money I can now! lol

    • Casey K

You are way off base there, Bye Bye Jacki!

    • Brie Livingston

what nerve lady…one photo is supposed to show you condolence…grow up stop acting like your 2 years old…. Glad you had a happy Halloween Colin. keep doing you girly!!!!

  12. Kathryn

so glad you haven’t forgotten about the lemons….

  13. glylibra

    happyhalloween!!

  14. Tina in east Texas

You guys are adorable! Happy Halloween, Collin!

  15. andrea

    love it!

  16. Carol_R

You both look great! Very innovative costumes.

  17. Nicole

Lol always somebody having to complain. I love the costumes and happy halloween to you and your family too!

  18. shannon

Collin I remember the lemons and felt so horrible for you having to hear what so many sad people said about your awesome tip. My favorite comment back then was you saying they are just stinkin’ lemons. You are adorable as a lemon and now you can say you know how it feels to be a lemon LOL.

  19. Paula

Unfortunately, you still always have your negative Nelly type people. I was also affected by Sandy. It is all I can do to get away from whats going on around me. I dont need to hear I’m sorry or rehash what has happened. I am trying to move forward and honestly seeing the halloween photos and reading things other than about Sandy are 100% refreshing!!! So, keep the fun stuff coming, I for one NEED it!!!

  20. Dori

How horrible of Jacki to visit this site and leave such rude and selfish comments on this site. Wouldn’t your time, Jackie, be better spent helping those suffering along/around with you. I know I would not be visiting coupon blogs and spreading such hate if I was in your shoes. What you do not realize is that Collin along with countless others such as myself are probably utilizing Hip2save to collect terrific deals and freebies to send to those who have been devastated by hurricane Sandy. I am currently collecting items, food, personal care items, etc. to drop off at my local ISO Impact which ships these items to desasters zones whenever something occurs in the USA? These items may come to you! Be grateful! Don’t be hateful!! Just because something is not stated on here, does not mean the people who have been impacted by this storm are not being thought about. Don’t take your pain and suffering out on others or on Collin! Go help someone or yourself!! Because countless others throughout the USA are in the process of doing something to help you even without you knowing!!!

  21. Ashley

I was a whoopie cushion last year!! I love the lemon one-Im a nutrionist and healthy is what we are all about!! Love it!

  22. Leslie

Happy Halloween to you too! I just want to take this opportunity to say thank you. You help so many people that you will never know about or realize what a positive impact you have made on their lives and the lives of their families. Please disregard any self-pity parties people may be throwing and decide to air in public. However horrible the devastation may be from any tragic event-weather or otherwise-there is always somebody worse off that would be willing to trade places. I know in the moment it seems like it couldn’t get any worse-I know I’ve thrown a few pity parties myself, but better days will hopefully come!

I also wanted to share a lemon story. I love Lemon Shake-ups, but cringe at the $5 cost, so I went online and got a recipe and bought a bag of lemons! I found out I can make them myself just as good (or so says my 16 year old) for a fraction of the cost!!!
I just had to start thinking like a hipster!

  23. Ann Dee

Bwah ha ha!!!! For a split sec I was wondering what you were, Collin. Then i just busted out laughing as it dawned on me. Your pose and expression add to it! I remember back when the whole lemon thing started! Thanks for making me smile today!!!! You’re a riot!

  24. Michelle

To Collin (& Mr. Hip) — thanks for the giggle! To all those affected by Hurricane Sandy, my heart goes out to you. To all those who frequent this awesome site, thanks for inspiring me to try to be as generous as you are, in the midst and in between crises like this. To Jacki, if you’re still out here, please post your address so we can send you some donations. We’ll call it Lemon-Aid.

    • Paula

      LOVE THIS COMMENT!!! So funny!!

  25. NOVA mom

Collin – PLEASE NEVER lose your enthusiasm. One of the biggest reasons I keep returning to your website on a weekly basis is to read your positive outlook on life and to save a buck!
I am grateful to have been introduced to your site by a family member of mine and will continue to be a reader for as long as you will have us.
