WooHoo! The Ibotta iPhone app (one of my personal favorite apps!) is launching with 3 new retailers today, CVS, Publix and Vons! That means you can now earn cash when you purchase products at these 3 stores in addition to Walgreens, Target, Walmart and several other retailers.

And if you have yet to download and use this Ibotta app, now is your chance to do so and snag $5 cash. To qualify for the FREE $5 cash, you must sign up for an Ibotta account by clicking through this link and then you must redeem at least one successful offer from the Ibotta Product Gallery by uploading a receipt and receiving cash on your Ibotta account. What a great way to earn money to pay for stocking stuffers and even Christmas gifts.

Here’s how it works:

Head over here and download the Ibotta app for FREE (note that this app is currently only compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch – 3rd generation, iPod touch – 4th generation, iPod touch – 5th generation and iPad and does requires iOS 5.0 or later). Ibotta for Android users will be coming soon (you can head over here and click on the “Get on the List” link in the bottom left corner to be notified as soon as the Android version is available which will be no later than the end of this year!).

Before you head out to shop, browse through all the different offers. You’ll earn money by watching quick videos, viewing recipes, taking polls, posting to your Facebook Wall etc. AND then actually going to the store to purchase these specific items. Note that Ibotta works in every CVS, Publix, Vons, Target, Walmart, Walgreens, Safeway, Kroger, King Soopers and Ralphs in the United States and has plans to expand to even more retailers in the near future. The awesome part for all of us couponers, is that in addition to getting cash back on your purchases, you can also use manufacturer’s coupons to lower your out of pocket expense.

Be sure to check out the product detail page on the app itself in order to view the offer’s expiration date. Offers can sell out, so it’s important to redeem them before they’re gone!

After you make your in-store purchases, you’ll just need to upload your receipt via the Ibotta app. Ibotta will then verify your purchases and determine whether credit should be added to your account within 24 hours. In many cases, you will receive word from Ibotta in under 1 hour. It is super simple to upload your photo and money was added to my account within an hour. Very cool!

Once you’ve reached at least $5 in earnings, Ibotta lets you transfer your earnings directly to your PayPal account. Choose Withdraw Cash from the main menu of the app, then select Get My Cash to link Ibotta to your PayPal account. How awesome is that?!

If you’d rather opt to donate your earnings to your favorite school, you can make a donation to any school in America as soon as you’ve earned $1 with Ibotta. Just choose Withdraw Cash from the main menu of the app, then select Donate to Schools. Ibotta can use your current location to find nearby schools, or you can type in any zip code and pull up a list of schools in that area.

Be sure to tell Ibotta which offers you like and dislike by tapping the image of any product and choosing either thumbs-up or thumbs-down. Over time the app learns what kinds of products you prefer and offers them accordingly.

Also note that there is no limit on the number of offers you can redeem. Once you have successfully redeemed an offer, Ibotta immediately restocks your shelf with a new offer. The more offers you redeem, the more new offers you will see, and the more money you can earn.

    • Janel

  6. Kenia

Just make sure to check your shopping list before getting anything at CVS because not all offers are accepted, like I can’t get the deodorants or toothpaste!!

  7. Bo

Whenever I try to take a picture of my receipt.. the app keeps closing.. anyone else have this issue?

  8. Michelle

I already have this app on my iPhone in tried to download the update to include the new stores but it wouldn’t download. I then deleted it and reinstall but that doesn’t work either. Anyone else having trouble?

  10. Shari

I use ibotta on my ipad, but it still does not give me the “new” stores as options. I made purchases at Kroger this weekend, after the new store rollout, but I can’t upload my receipt (and customer service hasn’t responded yet). Anyone else have this problem, or know what I can do?

  11. Christie

Still waiting for email to activate….

  12. DrLadybug

Anyone know about family stores?! We have Fred Meyer, not Kroger – but they ARE the same store, just different regions of the country. Same with Vons and Safeway. Anyone know if “family of” stores work/apply?

  13. anonymous

Anyone know if this would work with an iPad???? I don’t have an iPhone, but have an iPad. TIA 🙂

    • Michelle K.

      Hi!
According to the ibotta Help Topics page, it currently works on the iPad2 and iPad3. And since you don’t have to actually do anything in the stores, you wouldn’t even have to carry your iPad around with you. 🙂 Definitely a plus for me, since I know my purse is heavy enough!
Hope you try it out – seems like a very promising app!

      All the devices listed include:
      iPhone 3GS and newer
iPod Touch fourth generation and newer
      iPad 2 and iPad 3
      (devices must have a camera)

      Android coming soon!

I love using iBotta! Getting extra cash for items I’ve already bought is a great thing! I’ve also created a list of more smartphone apps that reward you with cash and gift cards. Check them out here! https://bit.ly/CashApps

  15. Devon

Oh man, I LOVE this app! And now I SUPER love it because it includes CVS (my favorite store!)… So pumped about this! :))

  16. Michelle K.

I’m so excited about using this app. I first read about it on H2S – thanks Collin!
And now it can be used at Publix, which is my main store.
I just tried the app for the first time, selecting the offers, buying the items at Target and then submitting the receipt this morning.
Seems simple – hope it’s as easy as it seems.

Thank you so much for the update! I’ll be able to get some great Christmas gifts this year with the extra money I’m earning through this app; especially now that they’ve added CVS! Here’s my referral link if anyone wants $5!!

Saw several people say they wish they could get it on Android. I just installed it. Yet to play with it, but I installed it on my Android phone.

  20. Jun

How come the CVS and Vons not showing on my Ibotta?

  21. David

I am having the same problem. I do not show CVS on my list & I just bought a product from them.

  22. Erica

I do not see CVS on my list.

  23. Jennifer

Can someone please help me? I recently downloaded ibotta and went shopping. I got home and my receipts would not take. They look like black lines or maybe grainy. I have done everything. I have gotten the same useless email from ibotta that does not help. Have sent multiple reports and emails and nothing. I only get a pre-recorded email that doesn’t tell me anything. What can I do or how can I get redeemed? Please help!
