Just in time for holiday shopping (only 26 days until Christmas!), don’t forget to check out CouponTrade

CouponTrade offers up a large selection of discounted gift cards for restaurants, retail stores and more (perfect to help you save even more at the register since you can combine store coupons, sales and cash back sites with these discounted gift cards)! Plus, all gift cards ship FREE (or are delivered electronically at no cost) and there are many different denominations of gift cards available…check them all out here (you can sort by brand or category).

Even sweeter, new and existing customers can snag $5 off of a $50 purchase with the promo code HIPGIFT at checkout (note that this code is only valid through Sunday). And if you’re new to CouponTrade, you can enter the promo code HIP2SAVE at checkout to instantly save 5% off your total purchase (valid through December 31, 2012). Note that these promo codes CANNOT be combined and each code is limited to one use per customer.

Note that there are no fees to buy these gift cards (they don’t charge sales tax, shipping costs or processing fees!). Physical gift cards will be mailed through USPS (and arrive between 3-14 days) and E-gift cards become available in your CouponTrade account within 1-2 business days.

In addition to buying discounted gift cards, you can head over to CouponTrade to sell unused gift cards for cash (a great way to earn some extra Christmas money!).

(To read more about earning money by selling your unused gift cards on CouponTrade, click the link below “Read More / Post Your Comments”.)

You can sell physical gift cards, E-gift cards and merchandise credit with a minimum of $20 on the card; the cards may be partially used and do not need to have an even balance.

Here’s what you need to do to get started:

* Gather up all your un-used and unwanted gift cards

* Head over here and click on the Start Selling button

* Enter the required info (Gift Card Retailer, Serial Number, PIN Number etc.). Keep in mind that all gift card serial numbers and pins are kept private at all times. You’ll also need to note the gift card balance and your selling price (depending on the brand, gift cards sell the fastest when discounted 3% to 30%). You can always choose to adjust the price if your card is not selling.

* For each gift card sale, CouponTrade does take a flat 10% commission of the gift card sale price. They also charge an extra $1.75 per physical gift card sale and $0.99 for each electronic (e-gift card) sale. You are only charged a fee when your gift card sells; if your gift card does not sell, you will not be charged.

* If you are selling a physical gift card, CouponTrade covers all shipping fees and provides prepaid shipping labels for letters and parcels (they just ask that you ship your gift card letters and parcels within 3 business days).

* You can select to be paid by Check Payments, Amazon E-gift cards or PayPal.

Special Note: CouponTrade verifies every seller and approves each sale on their site. You can verify your account through the seller verification tab on the My Account page or when you list your gift card. There is a $1 pre-authorization credit card charge for validating each account. All authorizations will be reimbursed between 24-72 hours

For the $5 off $50… is that $50 total, perhaps 2 gift cards from different stores?

    • Jesse

I don’t know if this helps, but I bought a GC for $200+ (just one GC) and I got $5 off, total. I was curious if it would be $5 off per every $50, but for me it was just $5 off my total order of one GC.

I have been using Coupon Trade since Hip’s first post about them. So far I’ve bought 3 different Starbucks giftcards as a discounted way to feed my husband’s once a day habit. There are plenty of times that I’ve gone to check, and they are totally out of Starbucks, but checking often (even during one day) leads to different results as things come and go. So if you don’t see something today, keep checking.

I’ve had to contact their customer service (I wasn’t sure if a card I bought was an e-card or “real” card) and I must say the cust. service is really great. I had bought a real card, and the cust. service man turned it into an e card so I could load it to my smart phone right away.

Before calling cust. service I trie the “chat with us now” option online but no one ever answered my chat. But, the phone cust. service was really great. I have used Plastic Jungle before (do not recommend, esp. if you are selling GC) and I definitely, definitely prefer coupon trade.

I am not convinced I want to use this one. I don’t like having to give the GC# and pin just to find out what they will offer on my gift card.

I was skeptical when you first posted, but just ordered my first one. I got a $39 Michael’s Craft store gift card for $29! The craft store has 40-50% off printable coupons daily.. so these paired with the gift card are a great score, in my opinion! I had planned on making many purchases at Michael’s for Christmas crafting anyways. Woop woop! Thanks 🙂

Hi Heather! Coupontrade’s percentage is way lower than other companies. Go to giftcardgranny dot com and start there. If you search for Michaels, it’ll show you all the other companies and their percentages. I’ve been consistently getting Michael’s gc’s for 25% OFF! Now, that’s a far cry from the 10% that coupon trade is offering.

Question – if you buy an E Card – is it emailed to you, and you can print it/take it to a store? I don’t have a smartphone, and don’t want to buy dog food online…but the Petsmart ones are E Cards. not familiar with how to use them. thanks!

    • Jesse

random, but if you ever DO want to buy dog food online, I recommend wag.com They are a great company, often have free shipping, and at prices better than in store (plus you don’t have to leave your house- score). I’ve bought our dog food there (and treats, and, and) many times.

      • Kelly T

actually, for better quality wholistic dog food, delivered to your house at a better price, look up Nature’s Select dog food. Feed your pet a lot less and that means less mess in your yard.

I had terrible experience with them as a seller. They credited me incorrect amount of money when my card was sold. I called them everyday for two weeks and every time they promised me to fix the problem. Guess, what…Nothing is fixed up today. I just called them and had to yell because I was so frustrated. They never said they were sorry, no apology at all. Could anyone recommend another place for selling gift card?

    • Ashley57

Ebay. I have sold everything you can think of on there. No listing fee, about 10% of profit goes to them.

      • VictoriaF

Thanks, Ashley57 for your answer. I never used ebay myself, but my hubby said that paypal charges you also every time money goes into your account. So, you loose a lot. I don’t have a paypal account either. Is that true about paypal charges?

        • Meg

Hi Victoria, My name is Meg and I work at CouponTrade.com and I would love to help you out. I have tried to look up your transaction number but can’t seem to find it, if you could give me your transaction number please, I would be happy to help. We really do want to make sure that your experience is a good one, and we value your business.

          • VictoriaF

Hi Meg! Thanks for trying to help me, but here is no info about transaction numbers. I looked everywhere in my account. There is simply no such information, I even looked at my e-mails that they sent me when my listing was sold. I talked to three or four different people there. The most terrible representative was Mat. He talked over me and again promised me to fix problem by the end of the day and of course…it did not happened. I called him second time today and he hang up on me.

            • Meg

              Hi Victoria,

I am so sorry that this happened! I have spoken with Michael and he informed me that your refund is on your way. Please let me know if there is anything I can help with in the future. Thank you again Victoria for continuing to support CouponTrade, we are committed to making sure you have a great experience with us.

    • AnnetteM

How long did it take to receive the payment (even though it was the wrong amount)?

    • AnnetteM

This is my first time using CouponTrade.com and wondering how long I will be waiting for the funds to hit my pay pal account. I shipped the gift card on Saturday.

  7. alyssaholman

I purchased a card from them earlier today and I just received a voicemail that they want verbal confirmation that I placed the order. Is this normal? The number was 312-929-****

    • Jesse

the very first time you order from them you have to confirm over the phone- you should have gotten an email telling you this, too. Then for all future purchases, no phone call is necessary.

  8. Mary

I have had bad luck with this site. I received two cards with no value to them. I have also placed orders only to have them call to say the cards were no longer available. I was not impressed and would not waste my time on them.

    • Ashley

i have to agree with this post! I had ordered 2 gift cards that last time and one didn’t have any amount on it and it took several phone calls to get everything figured out and they still charged my credit card the wrong amount

      • Meg

Hi Ashley and Mary, My name is Meg and I work at CouponTrade.com and I would love to help you out with any issue you have had with us. I tried looking up each of your orders but I could not find them. If you could give me your order numbers please, I would be happy to help you. We greatly appreciate your business and we really do want to make sure you have a good experience with us.

  9. Deborah monthei

I ordered two gift cards on 11-29-2012 and have yet to have them be processed. It says to allow 1 working day but this is 12-4-2012 and I have received nothing. When I called today I got a voice message dated 11-30 202 that says the phone system is being changed. Is this company a sham?

    • Meg

      Hi Deborah,

My name is Meg and I work at CouponTrade.com and I would be happy to help you! Do you have your order number handy? I will expedite your order as soon as possible. With the holidays, our processing has been slowed down due to the amount of orders we have received, I am so sorry for this delay! We have updated our phone service and they are now back up and running. We greatly appreciate your business and want you to have the best experience with CouponTrade. Thank you Deborah!
