THis stuff is so good for you hair! I do a mask on my hair of just coconut oil for 30 minutes once a week and it has done wonders for my hair! Just shampoo twice after you use it so your hair isn’t greasy. Love it!

I think you sold me on this! I’m going to try this for mine and my daughter’s hair. She has been trying to grow her hair out for years and it just doesn’t grow … i read before this is a good treatment. Thanks!

I recently got a huge 78 oz. tub of Nutiva Coconut Oil at Costco for $21.99 (about 28 cents per ounce). I was buying the 16 oz. jars at Trader Joe’s for $5.99 (about 37 cents per ounce). On Amazon, the two pack of Nutiva (a total of 30 oz.) is $16.68 on subscribe and save (56 cents per ounce). Anyway, you might want to check out your Costco to see if they have it.

I absolutely love coconut oil. I had numerous plantar warts on the bottom of my feet and this stuff took them all away. It also gets rid of other warts (on your hands, legs, etc.). I applied it to my feet every night and put on some socks. After a few weeks most of them were gone. Several months later all of them were completely gone!

So this is a good price if you don’t have a sam’s/Costco membership?

    • sarah

It’s $.39 an ounce here. Per Megan’s pricing above (thanks Megan!), it’s closer to $.38 an ounce at Trader Joe’s. So, it’s about the same, but you may not have to pay tax if you order on line.

How long does this stuff last? Exp date…on average?? Thanks

    • robyn

it has a pretty long shelf life; about 2 yrs after opening. coconut oil has natural anti-fungal/anti-bacterial properties and wont go rancid like other oils do. hope that helps.

Love the coconut oil! I use just a little on my wet hair and now have curls with no frizz — it is better than any product I have ever tried! And I use it on my face/skin–good bye wrinkles– awesome stuff!!

I love putting this stuff in my hair. Twice a week I slather it on and leave it in for a few hours while I clean or watch a movie with the kids. It has eliminated my frizz and my hair is never as oily as it used to be (I’m in large part Arab, we’re kind of an oily people). I use it as lotion, in my homemade deodorant, in my toothpaste. It’s just so wonderful. I don’t use this particular kind, but this one is good too.

    • Elham

Thanks for sharing. I’m Arab too! I’m definitely going to give this a try! 🙂 in hopes to tame my unmanageable hair!

      • Em

I have 1 great grandmother who is Irish- the rest of my family are Arabs, so I feel you on unmanageable hair thing Elham! I use coconut oil as much as my grandmothers use Rose water, lol!

There are just so many health benefits with this stuff, it’s amazing. It’s awesome that it can be used internally and externally. I usually get 2 jars because of this. One I keep in the kitchen cabinet and the other in the bathroom. Good stuff!!

  12. Amy R

I bought some, too. I have never used it before so I am a total newbie!! Just read “101 uses for coconut oil” but have no idea what they mean when they say to take it or ingest it….right out of the jar from a spoon? Heated up? Anyone out there who can help me out? Is there a Coconut Oil for Dummies book out there?
