With Christmas just 13 days away, don’t forget to check out CouponTrade

CouponTrade offers up a large selection of discounted gift cards for restaurants, retail stores and more (perfect to help you save even more at the register since you can combine store coupons, sales and cash back sites with these discounted gift cards)! Plus, all gift cards ship FREE (or are delivered electronically at no cost) and there are many different denominations of gift cards available…check them all out here (you can sort by brand or category).

Even sweeter, new and existing customers can snag $10 off of a $125 purchase with the promo code SANTA10 at checkout. And if you’re new to CouponTrade, you can enter the promo code HIP2SAVE at checkout to instantly save 5% off your total purchase (valid through December 31, 2012). Note that these promo codes CANNOT be combined and each code is limited to one use per customer.

Note that there are no fees to buy these gift cards (they don’t charge sales tax, shipping costs or processing fees!). Physical gift cards will be mailed through USPS (and arrive between 3-14 days) and E-gift cards become available in your CouponTrade account within 1-2 business days.

In addition to buying discounted gift cards, you can head over to CouponTrade to sell unused gift cards for cash (a great way to earn some extra Christmas money!).

(To read more about earning money by selling your unused gift cards on CouponTrade, click the link below “Read More / Post Your Comments”.)

You can sell physical gift cards, E-gift cards and merchandise credit with a minimum of $20 on the card; the cards may be partially used and do not need to have an even balance.

Here’s what you need to do to get started:

* Gather up all your un-used and unwanted gift cards

* Head over here and click on the Start Selling button

* Enter the required info (Gift Card Retailer, Serial Number, PIN Number etc.). Keep in mind that all gift card serial numbers and pins are kept private at all times. You’ll also need to note the gift card balance and your selling price (depending on the brand, gift cards sell the fastest when discounted 3% to 30%). You can always choose to adjust the price if your card is not selling.

* For each gift card sale, CouponTrade does take a flat 10% commission of the gift card sale price. They also charge an extra $1.75 per physical gift card sale and $0.99 for each electronic (e-gift card) sale. You are only charged a fee when your gift card sells; if your gift card does not sell, you will not be charged.

* If you are selling a physical gift card, CouponTrade covers all shipping fees and provides prepaid shipping labels for letters and parcels (they just ask that you ship your gift card letters and parcels within 3 business days).

* You can select to be paid by Check Payments, Amazon E-gift cards or PayPal.

Special Note: CouponTrade verifies every seller and approves each sale on their site. You can verify your account through the seller verification tab on the My Account page or when you list your gift card. There is a $1 pre-authorization credit card charge for validating each account. All authorizations will be reimbursed between 24-72 hours

Has anyone bought some g-cards? Or e-cards and how do the e-cards work?

I was skeptical at first, but the last time you posted about coupontrade I decided to order. I got a $39 Michaels craft store gift card for $29. It did take about 10 days to arrive, but the customer service when I called twice was very nice/helpful. Ill definitely order from them again, and I can’t beat saving 25% on a gift card value when I shop there often anyways 🙂 Hope this review helps!

      Thanks Heather

I sold a gift card on Coupon Trade and was very happy with the experience. I had a small issue with figuring it out but their customer service was very helpful, thank you for sharing this. I have been watching for another Walgreens gift card to come up for sale, great way to save.

***CAUTION*** I have not had a good experience with the company. I received two gift cards with $0.00 balance. I am still dealing with the disputed charges on my credit card. The cards are not necessarily in gift giving condition either. They can look used/abused. So, proceed with caution if using the cards for holiday gifts. I have also ordered numerous cards on an order with them only to have them call me and cancel my order! They said they did not “have the cards available” anymore. What??!! ***CAUTION***

        Hi Mary B,
We could not find you in our system and we are very concerned that this happened to you on our site. Do you have a order number handy for us to further look into this for you? Please give us a call at 888-838-5847 so we can help resolve your issue immediately.

        • Mary

          Meg,

Thank you for your concern. I dealt with Angelo? I returned the two zero balance cards to you. I am waiting for the last credit on my credit card. You will not find me in your system because the order was in my husbands name. I am hopeful everything will be resolved shortly. I will, however, not do business with Coupontrade.com again.

          Thanks,

          Mary

Ok you mean I can get gift cards cheaper than what they are wroth? How does this work? Confused lol

If this is like other gift card trading sites, people who are given gift cards to stores they don’t shop at, or who use part of the balance and can’t figure out what to do with the rest, can sell them to CouponTrade. CouponTrade only gives the seller a percentage of the value of the gift card. The idea being that some cash is better than a store credit you’ll never use. That’s how they can resell the gift cards at a discount to people who do want to shop at that store.

      Hi Ashley.
The process is pretty straight forward. Upon visiting the site one will see the card, it’s value (dollar amount on card) and the discounted percentage. An example is below:

      CARD: Best Buy
      VALUE: 100.00
      Percentage off/discounted: 10

With this scenario you would get the $100.00 Best Buy card for $90.00

Colin’s post shows an amazon logo, so I was hoping to get an amazon e-card at a discount, but they don’t have any on the site.

      Hi Michelle,
The gift cards available for purchase vary but they do sometimes have Amazon cards. It’s just hit or miss.

  7. lmwynn
