Here’s what a few Hip2Save readers have had to say about this promotion…

I ordered mine and got them like 2 days later – I was SHOCKED! They were great and I am very pleased with them. The same glasses at Costco would have cost me approx $200 or better. I paid maybe $45 with the added stuff I did? Good deal! BUT I have to say I don’t think you can get them 100% free if that’s what you are aiming for… it will be at least $10-$20? But great quality!

I got mine within a week of ordering them. Love them and the price (just shipping) I get compliments on them all the time!

I totally did this last month. I love my glasses, they’re fun and cute. And cost me $15! My mom just couldn’t believe it. Thanks!!!

Ordered my daughter a free pair last year! They were fantastic. With her new prescription, I just ordered her extra thin lenses with all the coatings and only paid $59.90 about 1/4 what I would have paid at eye doctor. Ordered them on 13th, shipped on 15th… Cant’ wait to get them!

The local news just had a story comparing three different online eyeglass places. Coastal was one of them. While all three nailed the prescription, the fit was off on all three (center of pupil on one eye was off and caused bluriness). The bottom line was if it only costs you a few dollars, why not give it a try!

I found I was off the first time because I measured my own PD… go in to an optical shop and have them measure for you. Often they don’t write PD on your prescription card… so if you have an exam make sure they do. Also, Coastal will let you return them or do over!

      • Jennie

Speaking for all eye care professionals, do not go and ask to have your PD measured especially if you did not have your eyes examined at that location. You are asking them to provide a service in which they will not be reimbursed in any way and taking their time away from other customers in the store.

There is nothing wrong with asking them to measure this for you, it takes a matter of seconds, and if they do not feel like doing it let them be the ones to tell you. I’ve found most of them to be most helpful. These places make a lot of profit off people so I don’t think they mind spending a few seconds measuring this.

I used these as a back pair of glasses for my daughter who wears contacts. I was in the optical field for 18 years and I must say this was an amazing deal. For less than $8 my daughters glasses came with thinner lenses and antiglare coating which is usually a $60 add on. You can’t complain about the fit on a pair of glassses that were ordered online, I recommend bringing them to just about any optical place and most will do free adjustments on eyeglasses, it is just part of their customer service. And you can always bring the glasses to your Dr. office to have the prescription double checked or if it just doesn’t feel right.

    • Jennie

After being in the eye care profession for over 18 years, I am surprised to see you advise people to bring glasses they purchased online into an optical location for a free adjustment. Opticians deserve reimbursement for their expertise and if you did not purchase your glasses from them you should not ask them to do adjustments for you at no cost.

      • Leilani

Thank you Jennie from a fellow optician! (ABOC &NCLEC)

      • Amanda

I don’t think many people understand the actual purpose of Opticians, and how difficult it is to become licensed. There is a lot involved in most states, 3-5 years of apprenticeship training passing your NCLE, ABO, and state practical. Some people have no idea and just assume that we are simply fashion consultants. We are there for a reason, to guide, educate, and precision is of utmost importance. In large because the over head is reduced. When you purchase a pair of glasses the price includes much more then the tangible merchandise, it is the licensed Optician who cut the lenses and dispened them, it is the replacement nose pads, the frequent adjustments, etc. I say if you want to buy your glasses online go for it, they often sell for less then our cost, but do not expect us to service your glasses.

        • shela

WHILE THAT MAY BE TRUE, IT’S RIDICULOUS WHAT THE BRICK AND MORTAR STORES ARE CHARGING PEOPLE WHICH IS WHY WE’VE ALL GONE ONLINE FOR GLASSES. THEIR PRICES DO NOT NEED TO BE THIS HIGH!

          • Jennie

What is a fair price in your mind?

  4. patty

Keep in mind prescription sunglasses are excluded.

  5. Amanda

Also, I was able to use my health savings account card to pay for the shipping!

    • Ashley Morosky

Thanks for saying that, I was wondering if you could use HSA. 🙂

I really think i need glasses (for reading) and haven’t had the extra money so i’ve been putting it off. How does this work? I need to go have an eye exam first to get a prescription? Then i can do this offer? TIA!

    • Ashley

Well yeah! You need to know your prescription to order prescription glasses

  7. coolfez

I got glasses from them earlier this summer. They weren’t totally free since my prescription needed the really thin lens.

The fit was off though and I just couldn’t get used to them. They were nice and offered for me to get the lens checked at a local eye doctor and they would reimburse me. I ended up returning it and got my money back. Their customer support is very good, but you should double check the lens if you have a very heavy prescription. Mine was a -7.

  8. Heather Nicosia

I ordered through them as well. The quality was great. I think the PD was done right too and I did it myself. My eye doctor was super cool about giving me the prescription because I told him we couldnt afford glasses in store. I’m sure If I went in and asked him to do the PD for me too he would have. He totally understood where I was coming from especially since Military eye care isnt that great. Honestly can go a long way. 🙂

    • Heather Nicosia

      Honesty!**

  9. miranda

I just gotta say I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE my glasses from here and for $20 as compared to $400 at my eye doctor!! GREAT DEAL!
