    SO PRETTY!!!

  2. Erica

So gorgeous! I love that you can customize them! I have seen similar but can never commit! 🙂

  3. Danielle

This post makes me said since the law suit is still pending since they copied EVERYTHING from Oragami Owl which was created over 2 years before South Hill! The stole Oragami Owl’s lockets, chains, charms, and dangles! I will not support (or even sign up for a giveaway) from a company with such lack of integrity.

    • Mel

Oh wow! I didn’t know about this. I was going to order a necklace for my daughter..may have to think twice!

      • Tracie Penunuri

        Mel,
You can order with confidence, and I’m sure you will love our beautiful, high quality products. I’m not sure how old your daughter is, but my 8 year-old loves her locket!

    • S.B.

I purchased quite a bit when the Origami Owl giveaway came out back in December! The first thing I thought when I saw this post was…knock off?!?! So crazy that this happened and they copied so much, it is sad 🙁

    • Brit

I wondered if this was a knock off. I love the story behind origami owl, so it makes me sad if this company is steal that idea.

    • Tracie Penunuri

Just to clarify, this style of locket has been around for many years and can be purchased from major retailers and online through many companies. Just as make up is not exclusive to Mary Kay, having multiple shopping options provides for strong and competitive marketplace. The initial lawsuit referenced included a restraining order to force South Hill Designs to stop selling, and that was thrown out by the judge as having no merit. If you would like more information on South Hill Designs, please let me know!

    • Cheryl

“This post makes me said since the law suit is still pending since they copied EVERYTHING from Oragami Owl which was created over 2 years before South Hill! The lawsuit was ruled in favor of South Hill Designs, and it was over just a few charms…not the line and NOT the lockets. Both companies have beautiful jewelry and beautiful “signature” pieces.

Every company deserves the right to market their own items and it’s not an “integrity” issue, just one company trying to deface another.

Like I said, BOTH companies have gorgeous items, it’s your own personal choice who and what you purchase. I have both lockets and love both of them so I WILL NOT and CHOOSE not dump on either company.

      • Joy

The lawsuit is still ongoing, so your information is incorrect.

    • Erin

For those of you who are familiar with Thirty One, a few years ago Miche also brought suit against them for infringement on their skirt purse…Today Thirty One is one of the leading companies of it’s kind..I have been on both sides of these lockets and have to say I LOVE South Hill Designs. Being able to pick up the phone and speak to a person (no email or “leave a voicemail” needed) is something that has really made South Hill Designs stand out. Their customer service is remarkable 🙂

    • Danelle

I think that it is funny that you would say that SouthHill has lack of integrety since Origami Owl copied this idea from several companies that have been selling these lockets for years, one being Hallmark. the other thing is that the Owner of Origami Owl is has been in trouble with the law on several occassions and is passing herself off as Chrissy Weems but in fact her real name is Christain Weems and her mug shot is all over the internet only she changed the color of her hair. So before OO designers start talking about other companies they should look in their own backyard and see who they are really making money for.

    • LB

Very Sad. It is unfortunate that disgrunted Origami Owl designers started South Hill and stole ideas on the way out the door. I wouldn’t want to be associated with this company at all.

  4. scentlifesafely

    Adorable! Love this!

  5. Amandeep

    Very nice jewelry

  6. Regina

Everything is so pretty and its great to have it made just for you.

  7. Jess

I strongly suggest everyone go through ORIGAMI OWL and do not buy these knockoffs. This company is trying to copy the real deal and Im sorry but the quality is very low and not at all like the real origami owl products.

    • Tracie Penunuri

Thank you for so many kind comments and emails that I have received today! It’s so fun to see so many people confirming what I think–that South Hill Designs is a great company with a quality product. As an owner of lockets from both South Hill Designs and Origami Owl, I can tell you about a few differences that really lead to preference more than anything. Our lockets open to a 90 degree angle which improves ease of placing and changing charms. Our lockets also have reinforces hinges for strength and durability. Also, our crystal lockets are made with Swarovski crystals which add a beautiful sparkle. Again, these are a few of the differences. We also offer a 30 day refund policy, so if you’re not happy with your product for any reason, send it back. Customer service is very important to us. Also, we offer more charms choices than any other company on the market, which makes is ever easier to find selections that suit many tastes and stories. Again, if you would like additional information on South Hill Designs, please don’t hesistate to contact me–positive or negative, I welcome all input.

      • Sarah

Just to clarify, Origami Owl’s crystal lockets are also made with Swarovski crystals, and Origami Owl also offers a 30 day refund policy. The only real difference between O2 and SHD product wise noted above is how far the locket opens. Which, all things considered, is kind of insignificant in my opinion.

  8. amber

i’ll stick with origami owl as i don’t agree with this company’s ethics. i’m actually shocked that you would even endorse a company like this collin.

    • Jess

Amen Amber 🙂 Origami Owl is the best and they are so kind and wonderful to deal with

      • My2Loves9812

Are you bashing Spirit Locket affiliates too? I just seen today where another Direct Sales company is adding these lockets to their line so your going to put down every one that sales these lockets!

  9. kara

I will stick with Oragami Owl!

  10. Bethany

I am a Origami Owl Designer. I love the product and really love telling how Origami Owl got started. I got to meet the founder of the company a couple weeks ago. Her story is amazing and that she was only 14 years old when this all started is even
more Amazing! Her story helps me remember that nothing is impossible.

  11. Jazmin

I agree with Tracies comment that this style of locket has been around a long time… So commpetition is healthy… And fun. Gives the buyer more choices and doesnt give someone a monopoly. Thank you Collin for giving us a chance to win a locket and be aware of these beautiful lockets!!!

  12. txhrc4

I think these are just adorable. I also like Oragami Owl as well. I don’t think it’s a crime for somene else to sell another type of product that is similar to another. If it were a crime we wouldn’t have thousand of choices of all kinds of things that are out in the world. Thank you Collin and Tracie for organizing this contest. 🙂

  13. ms

Origami owl does welcome fair competiton, but aSouth hill was started by a former Origami owl independent Designer, whom at the time breached her contract and many if the items are exact copies of Origami owl designs, hence the infringement on copyright laws and the marketing is a near copy of origami owl marketing. Origami owl designers are also being harrassed by south hill designers, forcing al origami owl groups to become scret so they cannot be targetted and longer. I myself have been harrassed by a south hill designer. Origami owl’s legal team is still dealing with the issues at hand.

    • Stacey

I don’t know anything about this nonsense or these companies but I find it rather funny that “ms” seeks out a the person running this promotion to blast her company and say negative things while claiming she is the one being attacked. She says “Origami owl designers are also being harrassed by south hill designers, forcing al origami owl groups to become scret so they cannot be targetted and longer. I myself have been harrassed by a south hill designer.” I am sorry but aren’t you the one looking for someone to pick on and bully? Why are you on this board with mean spirited comments. Why don’t you focus on your own business and leave these people alone. You have totally discredited yourself.

      • ms

I do know something about it and I have been personally involved and it is not nonsense. I in no way bullied or picked on anyone, I only stated the facts that I know about the situation and what I have personally experienced. I did not seek out the person running the promotion, I have been a follower of this website for years and happened across it today as I was checking for deals. I also am not the only one who stated negative comments about South Hill Designs, so why only attack my comments? I think everyone has the right to the truth and wanted people to be aware of the situation, if it was me I would want to know.

    • Misha

Aren’t you harrassing this woman by posting your negative comments here?

  14. Sheri

I owned a gift shop from 2005 – 2008 and actually sold this type of locket with interchangeable charms- when did Oragami Owl start? I have seen these lockets everywhere – why does this one company think they own them? You know those bracelets with interchangeable beads- Pandora? Now there are hundreds of bracelets and boy has the price on those things come down – sorry but I am a huge proponent of free enterprise and that is why I love living in America! I also love freebies so I am signing up! 🙂

    • Dawn Mong

Good point about Pandora!! I have a pandora and put other beads on it like from Brighton 🙂 I own an Oragami Owl locket. There are a few things I didn’t like about it and the company. I like that with South Hill the chain comes with purchase of locket. I like that it opens 90 degrees. I like that the magnet closure is stronger. I like that they have the ‘mini’ locket available. I like the larger selection of charms. I like that you can get each word engraved on a med OR a large coin. In my opinion, they took a good product and made it great. Tracie is brilliant for contacting Collin and having a giveaway on this amazing site! And thanks for giving us a chance to win one! I think its great. Very smart. If I don’t win, I’ll be ordering. Maybe even signing up to be a distributer because I love these!!

  15. Kelley

I have personally seen these lockets like this sold at Hallmark 10 years ago or more. Competition and free trade are what make our country great. There is more than enough room for both of these ethical companies to exist in the market place. From the research I have done there are differences between the two companies. The SHD lockets open at a 90 degree angle with a strong magnetic closure this differs from OO their lockets open at a 45 degree angle. SHD lockets come with a chain included and OO now charges for a chain choice. SHD just introduced three different sizes of silver lockets with pink Swarovski crystals around the locket. OO uses cubic zirconia for their gems. SHD does not have a tagged line OO does. Again, all of these innovations make both companies stand on their own merit. Choice in life and in the marketplace is a good thing.

  16. rosa

A great giveaway, I love that you can personalize the locket! I saw lockets like these being sold on Etsy recently too… So It’s sad to see grown women arguing over who has rights to sell or market them. Especially when they can be found all over the web. Oh and is origami owl suing “spirit lockets”? Thats a new one I saw on facebook last week. This is all just ridiculous. If you like the product enter the giveaway and if not then don’t. There’s no need for bashing.
So thank you for offering such a great giveaway and thanks to Tracie for offering your product.

  17. Kat

I love South Hill Designs, they are good to their artists and customers alike! I agree it’s a matter of preference, but this lady is on here trying to do something nice and show her product, isn’t there room for everyone?? Keep your head up Tracie… You should be proud of your accomplishments and generosity!!

  18. Megan

Thank you so much for promoting south hill designs! I love your site

  19. Cece22

Thank you Tracie for your generous giveaway! I believe that healthy competition should be encouraged.. Would we all be happy with only one cell phone provider or one car manufacturer? Should there only be only one burger restaurant that is allowed to rule the marketplace? (No In-N-Out because McDonalds came first?) Freedom of choice and healthy competition is what makes America great. It ensures that quality goes up, prices go down and great customer service is still being practiced. Let’s all support Tracie and her right to build her business!

  20. Kathy Nicholls

I love that sites like this one are able to do giveaways where people can learn about new products. It’s what free enterprise is about. In full disclosure, I am a South Hill Designs artist who has only been with the company for just over 30 days. In that time, I’ve already had my first promotion and signed two new team members. I joined because I’m a storyteller at heart and love the ability to help others share that story. The response so far has been amazing. I should note that I also have a Charmed Memories bracelet by Kay Jewelers. There are so many products in the marketplace to choose from. Find what speaks to your heart and soul and go with it! What I’ve found is a company full of support for both its artists and customers and one amazing experience in my journey so far!

  21. Mia

Cool Giveaway. Can I get one of the Pink Lockets if I win? I haven’t see those anywere.

  22. Misha

I am shocked to see so many negative comments. They are both legitimate companies with their own stories. It is a shame that so many people would attack someone doing a giveaway. There is plenty of room for both companies ladies so let’s play nice.

  23. AJ

It is quite foolish to think that origami owl was ever the original, so silly! Free enterprise is something they took advantage of, as millions of companies do in America. I personally have had both products. Im so very pleased with South Hill. The customer service was great, items in stock, and holy cow…have you seen all the cute detailed charms? Ive heard they are one of a kind, exclusive? Also- a new pink crystal locket that is limited…I know if I want a variety, quality with crystals and an open minded knowledgable staff I will go with shd. It seems to me the negitivity of some of OO’s reps are really reflecting off the bad information being fed to them. Thanks for this give away!

  24. trinity051

After reading these comments I am shocked. This country is built on capitalism and free enterprise. No one “stole” anything. I can walk into any store and find name brands and store brand merchandise. Coke and Pepsi anyone? Gas stations on every corner, Starbucks, Peet’s Coffee, Hilton, Sheraton, Four Seasons, etc…the list is endless. It is the service that you provide that makes the difference in having loyalty.

If anyone truly believes in their product then let them provide it to those that appreciate it. Bashing other artists or consultants gets you nowhere. I didn’t even hear about OO until recently and I for one look for these things when I buy a product: Customer Service, Communication, and a Great Experience. This is what keeps everyone going back to wherever they shopped previously. If I was to walk into a store and hear this attacks on another just so they can sell a product I would leave and purchase elsewhere. If OO wants to make a point then go after all of the products that are similar on the web. From what I see the companies are going in totally different directions so what is the problem. If you run your business the right way everyone makes money and wins in the end. If you have to attack another then the business would fail. Just my .02 cents.

    • My2Loves9812

      Well said!

  25. lili

crossing my fingers!! hope i win!

  26. Sherry

Always very, very sad to see grown-ups participating in hating on each other, whether it’s political, religious. sports and yes even business. Our beautiful country was founded on the principle of free enterprise…a significant component of what makes America great, and one of many reasons people across the world yearn to live here.
I’m an artist who paints, and I do many other things creative…including jewelry making. Because of often searching the internet over the years for supplies, ideas, ect, there’s one thing that do know…young Bella of Origami Owl didn’t conceive, create or design the Lockets that OO currently uses, therefore she had no Patent on them. They were simply on the open market and she made use of them, just as thousands of other enterprising entrepreneurs have done with the exact same Lockets……free enterprise ! I’ve seen the lockets readily available on the internet for many years.
I have a Pandora Bracelet, but I’m headed to the local Kay’s Jewelry store on Sat to get a different brand of bead (on sale !) for my Pandora Bracelet…..Yep, free Enterprise !!
I’m thrilled with my own decision three weeks ago to become an artist with South Hill Designs. I’m finding it to be a wonderful fit for me personally. It’s growing with lightening speed and new products are being revealed weekly. We began two months ago with approx 98 charms, but now have almost 300. “PINK,” our new Limited Edition Lockets were introduced this week and feature Pink Swarovski Crystals. I’m loving every exciting minute that I’m spending working, meeting new customers and just enjoying being part of this company.
I personally wish everyone in BOTH companies huge success with your business ! Lets all direct our focus on our customers and being absolutely the best we can be, whatever company we choose. I’d even bet there will be more new, similar companies who later hit the market…. There’s room for all of us !

    • Julie Morgan

Well said Sherry. From what I can see, the two companies do sell some similar charms, 50 or so… but how many ways are you going to do a crystal cross, star of david or football? The NFL can’t even copyright a football, so how could anyone else?

If anyone on this board cared to actually do some work, they would see how different the companies are, not only in customer services, product availability and compensation plan, but also in product.

South Hill Designs has over 175 unique charms that OO doesn’t carry… so out of 280 charms (OO carries 277), 175 are unique, 50 or so are similar, the remainder are birthstones and such (no way to differentiate there).

What will be said next, that South Hill Designs copied OO’s go to market strategy of party plan? I’m sorry, but party plan has been around for decades too.

The bashers all need to wake up and realize that competition is a good thing! It forces companies to improve. An example of that is OO’s recent announcement of their updates corporate sponsored hostess plan, which is what South Hill Designs has had from the beginning.

Also, you must realize that any successful company will soon eventually see competition. This is the nature of our capitalistic society. Intelligent companies welcome this and do their best to innovate, improve and distance themselves from the newer startups… not bash and wine about others.

Let me give you some examples: PartyLite was the first candle company to come into the party plan space. Are they the biggest candle company now? NO! Scentsy is… and there are now 10 other candle party plan companies out there.

How about Brighton and Pandora Italian Charm bracelets? Are they suing each other? The charms are interchangeable and VERY similar.

Instead of bashing and being obsessed with your competition, FOCUS ON YOUR OWN BUSINESS! That is the best way for individual consultants of any MLM/Party Plan company to be successful.

Good luck and good selling to ALL!

  27. Michelle

Beautiful!! I hope I win! I’m sad to see so much drama associated with any giveaway. I guess it speaks volumes about the character behind you all individually.

  28. Carrie

Such cute lockets! I’ve never heard of either company but I have to say after seeing all these negative post by all these origami owl reps has made me NOT want to purchase anything from that company! Why would anyone bash this poor lady for something she chooses to sale? Sounds like you all are a little threatened! As a customer South Hill will have my business!

  29. Constance

Shame on the Origami Owl reps for such ugly remarks and accusations. This thread has caused me to look into Origami Owls background and I was surprised to see by internet search that your owner Christian Weems has quite a few skeletons in her closet. Instead of attacking other women who are trying to start their own businesses maybe Origami Owl should turn their focus back on themselves and the integrity behind their own company.

  30. Amy

The charms are soooo cute!!! I hope I win. I want the pink one!!!

    • mp

Diane, you’re so right! If someone’s mother does something wrong or horrible or amoral or anything I disagree with, I should make the daughter pay by never wanting her to succeed! …childish

  31. Jewelry Junkie from Waaaay Back

I went to an OO party last night. I bet the chick sold over $1,000. Good for her.

I actually thought about signing up. So the first thing I did this morning was go online to try to (innocently) find more info on the company, pay plan, etc. I’m sick over what I tripped across… and even more sick to see women sucking other women into the OO company. Doesn’t anyone have any ethics?!?!?

First thing: (call me jaded) … but when I see a “story” about a 14 year old girl starting a company – my knee jerk reaction is that there is more to it. I know of 3 companies now – and in each case where the story is all about the young enterprising girl, the reality is that the mom can’t show her face.

Next: I can’t in good conscience enjoy, much less promote, a company who’s owner did such a horrible act against another family. This wasn’t an “oops”. This was horrible.

Then: I’m appalled at how OO people can stand behind this company. If this chick had played a part against your family, how would you feel?

Also: I did look to try to find some statement from the OO owner that would show she had regret, remorse, or *something*. I found nothing. 🙁

As for the copy cat nonsense: Get real. These charms and lockets can be had easily. They have a high profit margin which make them prime for party plan.

So for any of the OO people crying about copycatting, etc.. OMG… the issues you have in your own backyard are evil in comparison.

I’m cancelling my order today… I was trying to reach my hostess first.

I did talk to the consultant… and she said she just found out about the whole criminal thing just a month ago – after she was already invested. So she is trying to just look the other way and do her thing. My opinion: Shame on her.

  32. Conni

You guys know you can buy lockets and charms at wholesale online and sell your own stuff, right?

  33. JJ

Dudettes we are living in a free country, USA!! Be proud of it, “Live and Let Live”

  34. Bec

Oragami Owl is OVER PRICED!! You want to buy for the name go for it! The Quality is the same! I can’t personally afford Oragami Owl so if I can get the same thing else where for less, you bet I’m going to!
