If you do the $6 rebate for Parents magazine, the total OOP comes down to $22!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome! Just added that info to the post. 😀

      • Kim

Are those rebates one per household usually? I was thinking of buying more than one.

  2. Jess

How funny! My son’s cow humidifier died last night! (It was like 6 years old). Going to order him another 🙂 Thanks!

how do I request rebate? i put the item in the cart but don’t see the subscription

  4. Jamie

How do you request the $6 refund? I didn’t see it when I purchased…

    • Jamie

I called Target Customer Service about the $6 refund and they had no clue what I was talking about… she said they don’t offer anything like that. So I don’t know if it is a rebate or something that will come with the humidifier but Target doesn’t give the $6 discount on their end.

In the past, the way these magazine deals worked was that you purchase the item and when it arrives there is a form to subscribe to the magazine for whatever the period for free. The form also tells you how to get a refund instead of the subscription. Usually there is a code for the free subscription and that code can be used for a refund instead.

I purchased the frog last month and it has a slip of paper in the bottom of the box. That’s how you accept your magazine subscription or request a defend. HTH

      • Brooke's Bargains

Oops dang autocorrect! That’s supposed to say refund 😉

Anyone have any advice on avoiding having the cool mist humidifier getting red gunk, mold or mildew or something in it? I am afraid to use them because it seems like they always get like that.

    • Betsy

Yes. We quit using our cool mist humidifier years ago after it was a great breeder for mold plus the filter cost just as much as the humidifier. We now just use the warm air humidifier. We have never had any issues with kids getting burnt since we just use them when they are sleeping/napping an din their crib. The older kids who are in a bed know not to touch it. I say stay away from the cool mist.

I just bought the Crane Cool Mist Frog from Target when it was the daily deal (thanks for the tip!). When it arrived there was a postcard inside with the Parents Magazine offer. There are instructions on the card on how to apply for the rebate.
Also- to pp asking about how to avoid gunk in the humidifier- dump the tank and put fresh water in it every day. Also, distill with white vinegar for 30 minutes once a week. Trust me- it’s much easier to maintain it than it is to try to get the gunk out if you don’t.

    • Kim

Cara, this may sound silly, but what do you mean by distill? Should I run it with the vinegar or just clean it with vinegar?

      • Kathryn K

i think she means just put some vinegar or maybe vinegar/water mix in it and run it. this helps with hard water stains too. there maybe directions with product to clean it out and how too.

      • amma

How do you distill the tank?

  7. heather

I was wondering which type is better cool mist or warm mist?

  8. Lolita

    Thank you Cara!

Another question, do I need to buy filters for it? I could not find the answer on the site (maybe I overlooked it)

Re: the Crane humidifier…They are VERY CUTE, but our son is 8 months old and we are on our THIRD one. The fans keep going out 🙁

    • Tammi

Both of our Crane humidifiers have died in less than a month after we bought them. The fan always goes out of ours too. Super cute, but I think I’ll try a new brand next time.

      • Darcey

I bought a germ guardian humidifier before my son was born (almost 3 years ago) and its still going strong!! You Can use warm or cool mist and adjust the output too. There are no filters to replace and I’ve never had an issue with mold. They’re a bit pricey but like I said I’ve been using it for 3 years with no issues. I would highly recommend the Germ Guardian!!

  10. Stephanie

No, you don’t ‘have’ to use filters with this humidifier, but we always have… I buy the filters on Amazon…

I’m trying to buy the pants and I don’t see two for $25 — anyone have an item #? Thanks.
