If you love eating fresh fish as much as I do, then you’ll definitely want to consider heading on over to your local Whole Foods tomorrow, April 19th only, where you can snag Wild-Caught Cod Fillets for just $5.99/pound (a 50% savings!). This seems like a great bargain for fresh fish!

Line caught in the chilly waters of the Bering Sea on the fishing vessels Courageous and Alaskan Leader (How often can you say that you know the names of the boats that reeled in your fish?!), the cod is processed immediately and frozen for peak freshness so you can get cooking with the highest quality fish. With traceability and sustainability top of mind, we’ve got our own port buyer out there selecting wild-caught cod for this sale from Marine Stewardship Council certified sustainable fisheries.

This light roast is made with a blend of high-quality beans from Nicaragua and Ethiopia. With lively notes of citrus, apricot, milk chocolate and caramel notes, Allegro’s Organic Breakfast Blend is a delicious morning ritual for any coffee lover.

You say “This seems like a great bargain for organic, fresh fish!” but I don’t think it’s organic, per se, as I don’t think wild caught can be certified as such. Wild Caught is super awesome!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

LOL! That makes sense! Whoops! 😉

  2. Cindy

Yeah, I don’t think there’s such thing as “organic” fish since it’s not livestock, but wild-caught is a lot better for the environment (and bodies, I assume!) than farm raised. Thanks for the notification, Collin! Might have to go buy some tomorrow. 🙂

It seems like a good deal.

I’m happy to say I can go one better in regard to knowing where my seafood comes from – it’s from Pete & Clara’s seafood. Pete fishes; Clara cleans, fillets, and sells. I don’t know the nane of Pete’s boat, but I can alway’s call Clara to ask (I have her cell number).

Thanks to my local Community Supported Fisheries:)

I’m on the Northshore … how do you order/purchase from these local fishermen? Farmers markets?

      • Crescent City Couponer

Pete & Clara are vendors at the Crescent City Farmers’ Market (CCFM) https://www.crescentcityfarmersmarket.org/. There’s a market on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. You’ll find info about Crescent City Supported Fisheries (CSF) at on the CCFM site too.

P.S. You should check out Poppy Tooker’s show “Louisiana Eats” on WWNO (aired weekly on local NPR affiliates). If you don’t get good reception on the Northshore, there’s always podcasts on their Web site.

        HTH:)

If you’re in Covington there’s a farmers’ market there on Saturday from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on North Columbia and a Wednesday Market from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on North New Hampshire. I’m not sure if they have seafood though.

For those interested in community supportered fisheries and that live in West-Central Illinois, the Quad Cities, Madison, Indianapolis, the Twin Cities, and Chicagoland, i highly recommend https://www.sitkasalmonshares.com/index.html
They also ship everywhere in the country via Fed Ex.

At our store this was previously semi-frozen fish, and it is defrosted to be sold, so you would not want to stock up to refreeze. Had to go to WF today anyways but wish those details would have been included in the sale info (I got an email from them about it before this post went up and it said nothing about it being frozen in there).

I’m not a whole foods shopper normally, so I was wondering, Can I stack their store coupons with manufacturer coupons? thanks!

    • Mo

they don’t have a corporate policy on this – each store chooses how they want to do coupons. Our store let’s us stack, but for a while there was one rogue manager who would say they couldn’t >.< HTH!

That coffee is FABULOUS! And the regular price is $13.99/lb—the per pound price is a better deal, by the way. The fish is previously frozen, then thawed, so you really can’t stock up and refreeze. I just bought some for dinner tonight. Yummy, though! Thanks for the heads up on the sale!
