I went to Barnes and Nobles on my lunch and they have a 75% off sale on select toys. I was able to get $150 of toys for $37. I was able to score Star Wars, Halo, Legos, Kre-O toys. They have tons of things to choose from. [/h2s_box]

So after hitting her Dollar General store for the 90% Off Easter Clearance, my awesome sidekick, Mary, headed over to her local Barnes and Noble in Austin, Texas to check out this reported Toy Clearance. Does anyone know how long the B1G1 50% off sale is going on for Melissa & Doug items? It might only be on the B&N website, and not in store–I’m not sure. I want to get some gifts for my friend’s daughter but I don’t know if I should do it now or if I can wait until it’s closer to her birthday. I am considering calling but the customer service agents might not know either. Thanks!

FYI, I have found amazing Melissa and Doug deals at craft stores, of all places! Not just craft kits, either, but the magnetic dolls and play food and activity kits. Check your local craft store. If they are full price, use the 50 percent coupon that came out this week for a nice discount. HTH!

      • Amanda

At Michael’s? I will check it out, thanks!

        • mrl

Yes. They have them at Michaels. I’ve been able use the 40% off coupon on them – at least I’m pretty sure, I have.

          • Amanda

The thing I realized is if I buy them in store, I have to get a box and pay to mail them to my friend. If I order from B&N, my mother has a membership, so I’d get free 2-day shipping. So that might actually be the better option.

            • Karla

I had NO idea that B&N offers free shipping to members! Thanks for the tip. 🙂

              • Amanda

Yes, if you have a paid B&N membership, you get free 2-day shipping. I’m not sure if there is any other kind of membership (probably not). And as Ashley said, prices are so much cheaper online than in the store anyway. But sometimes I will go to the store to figure out what I want to buy (especially when it’s a travel guide), and then order it online.

If you have an AC Moore, you can use their 40% off coupon too, they always have Melissa & Doug 1/2 off before Christmas. I get most M&D and Thomas the train toys there.

      • Erin

They do that periodically. Couple months ago, they had them bogo and I used a 20 percent off Q that included sale items. I got $22 toys for $8-something apiece, which was about half the listed price on Amazon.

Would have loved to get the Kre-O transformers for my son. I called the two closest stores and they don’t really have much besides books left. The associate from one of the stores couldn’t get me off the phone fast enough, saying I should just come into the store to see. With that type of customer service, it’s no wonder the brick and mortar bookstores are going away.

    • Ashley

Aside from the service you can also get books soooo much cheaper online anyway! In store you’re paying list price 9/10 times! On amazon and even Barnes and noble.com you get at least 30-50% off list price!

    i just got M&D 20 wooden dinosaur magnets for $2.90 down from $11.95 🙂

  4. Amanda

I found a Playmobil Western City for $10 pre-tax. They also had a Lego alarm clock for $6 something. Spiderman Jenga for about $ something. Lots of games. Some fun craft/magic/activity sets too.

  5. S

I was told things go down to $2 eventually by a store rep today. Nothing I must have so I think I will wait. If it’s gone, ah well… didn’t need it anyway.

    • Melissa

That’s how it worked after Christmas….first it was 75% off and then everything was marked down to $2….which is when I got Elf on the Shelf and some Angry Birds stuff! 🙂

  6. Angela

I got some great craft kits – shrinky dinks and origami, a HIghlights seek and find book, Star Wars 100 piece puzzle, small Easter and Valentine wooden block signs and thank you notes, all for less than $3 each. I also got a game for Leappad for $6.24 and a $65 remote control race car for only $16.24. It was a great haul for my son and the nieces and nephews and a little for myself! Thanks so much for posting it!

  7. Cindi

A Blue Meanie!! Too bad my local B&N ddnt have this!!

  8. April

I got a VTech Mobigo, some children’s books and a Chutes and Ladders Nostalgia Edition 🙂

  9. Sara

Our Greenfield, WI store had some things left! My husband picked up Angry Bird shirts, Star Wars Legos shirts, rocket building set, and lots of other neat items for 75% off! Thanks for the tip!

Please let me know if anyone sees that recordable books are included in this sale. This seems to be mostly toys so I’m not running out to the store to take a look but I’m very interested in the recordable books.

We got three of them last year on clearance at B&N and have sent them to our niece who lives across the country. At Christmas the whole family was together and we had everyone read a page to her in one of the books. I’m told that she still reads them to herself all the time and I’d like to get her more of a variety of books.

My favorite find was Alex toys wooden workbench for $12.49! Amazon has it for $70. I also found a few kids books for $1.50 that I am donating and picked up Lego Life of George App game for $7.50, awesome Christmas gift for my friend’s son. 🙂

  12. Ali

I bought a couple of “SCRABBLE FLASH” games. List was $34.95, so 8.95. Probably all its worth, but good for birthday party gifts for kids.
