I have been watching for one of these for camping, but I was under the impression that for camping I needed a dutch oven with feet. Anybody know for sure?
You can do either or. It just depends how and what you are cooking.
I won’t use these for camping. I use my flat lidded dutch ovens with the lip and the handle on the top. You can’t put the coals on top of these easily.
I had one of these but then my husband bought me the one with the ceramic coating. I will never use this one again. No more wiping with oil, no more cleaning with water only. I absolutely love the ceramic coated one. You can put it in dishsoap and nothing sticks to it. It works just as good as a regular cast iron dutch oven. It is well worth the extra money.
The ceramic coated ones are prettier and do clean easily. Only drawback is that you cannot use them for open flame or coal cooking (campfire cooking) so they are not as versatile because of that. All the more reason to own multiple cast iron pieces 🙂
I did a search on this item to see how good this deal is. It’s a good price, but also available at WM.com for $30- rollback from $34.97. Not available in any stores near me, but eligilble for free site-to-store shipping. Or add anohter $15 for free shipping to your home.
