As I mentioned last week, this week has been a HUGE week for my family! We’ll be officially selling our home tomorrow morning (we will be signing the papers at the title company and handing over our keys to the new owners!). Although we are happy to be moving into our new home and ready to start making new memories as a family, there is something so sad about leaving a place that you have called home – even if just for a year or so. So this has been my low for the week – saying goodbye to our “old” home.

Now my high for this week is the adorable and heartfelt letter written by my precious daughter, Piper, for Mother’s Day! It made my day! ๐Ÿ™‚

[h2s_box]Every Wednesday, I share my high(s) and low(s) for the past week and I encourage you to do the same in the comment section below. My high(s) will simply be the best or most exciting thing that happened to me over the last week or so and my low(s) will be something not so great that took place. [/h2s_box]

What a sweet note!!!! Handwritten notes from kids are the best. So pure. : )

  2. Maryann

Aw, so sweet. I got a “momy you ar so ciwt (cute)” note from my youngest for Mother’s Day. Then he ran around wrapping things he found in the house and literally bounced with excitement as I opened them.

    • Laura

      So sweet. I love children!

    • Christina

Maryann, that is so adorable ๐Ÿ™‚ I love when my daughter does silly things. She would re do something to make it better in her eyes. She did a box ( one with freebies in the mail, that slid out of the cover box) and made it into a picture inside. To her it had a built in frame ๐Ÿ™‚ and I miss the heck out of the simple excitements all three did when they where so young. Ahh it was just so easy to burst into tears of joy. I still do, but I miss the really young accomplishments if you know what I mean

We have moved a couple of times and each time is a struggle for me. I can be quite sentimental. I always take a picture of each room and make a scrapbook page in the kids’ memory books of our “old” house! My oldest daughter loves to look at the house that she was little in! She still remembers each room with fondness!

    • Grazia

This post could notnot have come at the best time. We just put our first home on the market and I am having such a tough time with the decision. It is the home we brought our son home to. I love your idea of taking pictures and making a scrapbook for my son. Thank you!

  4. Jen

I hear you about change! Just think, in the next few weeks you have the end of school to deal with too. Boo hoo hoo!

  5. Julie

That note from your daughter is so cute :D. My high this week was some sweet notes my son wrote for me at school for Mothers Day, and my low was my grandmother calling me fat, on Mother’s Day. She’s almost 90, I’ll give her a pass (this time). Lol.

  6. priscilla

    Very sweet!

I have a question for anyone out there that might read this. Has anyone else ever received a letter from a company called CCD Research, LLC (signed by Mary Evans)? It says that if I complete a survey about an Android Tablet, it would be mine to keep. Is this legit? I’ve tried to do searches online for that name and can’t find anything. I’m just leary because the same day I got that letter, I got another letter from ‘US Airlines’ about getting some free airline tickets. I did find that scam online but not this Android thing. It has a website at the bottom ( Anyone hear of this before?

    • tracy

dont do anything u havnt actually signed up for first it will always be a scam. my mom works the service desk at meijers and she sees a lot of ppl doing money orders saying they got something and all they have to do is send this amount first.she always says its fake.and it always is.i bet if u give your info that they will ask for money next

    • christa

I haven’t received that letter but if something is too good to be true, it usually is. I wouldn’t see it as being viable if companies gave out these types of prizes for just a survey. Maybe it’s some type of time share thing or maybe it’s just a scam. I would be cautious about sharing personal info with them.

      • Christina

Microsoft actually does surveys to people when they downloaded a virus software.. My friend thought to good to be true.. You get a free Xbox 360. She looked it up and nothing. She decided what the heck, did a survey. Less than two weeks later FedEx delivered it. She called exciting, since her family didn’t play it she gave it to my family. Not all are too good, I never trust stuff either, I know some are legit because we have an Xbox but I still feel the same as you

    • Dave

sometimes when I see something like that I google it and see what you find?

      • priscilla

Sorry for the long post but I thought it might be helpful for anyone else that might receive this type of letter.

I did Google it before and nothing came up. They aren’t asking for any money. But I know what you mean about things being too good to be true. It’s just hard to remember everything that I’ve signed up for, especially with the different survey things, etc.

But I had noticed on the website that it has a login asking for the package code so I just tried it. It popped up with this:

“Unless otherwise stated in writing, we ask that you attend a sales presentation to receive your promotional gifts. The sales presentation will last 90 minutes. Married or Cohabiting couples are asked to attend the presentation together. Valid identification is required on check-in. Guess it is too good to be true ๐Ÿ™‚

        • clwilliams27

Two things. Even when your kids grow up, the things they say or write are precious! My son gave me six red roses and the card said “we love and adore you”. Even at the age of 22!

In reply to Priscilla, I got a letter about an Android Tablet too, but got suspicious when the website didn’t exist. Thank you for sharing! Happy Mother’s Day to you all! Good luck with your move Melissa!

    • Ashley

Yes I have! It’s a scam. My dad got a letter and checked into it…they said something about a getting in on a time share? It was a bummer. But you know what they say…if it’s too good to be true :/

    • Donbey

The website for CCD Research, LLC is only a domain name. There is no real site. Look at the misspelled words, Householld, Recieve. They have receive correct the first time and not the second time. You can try it, but my guess is they will try to sell you something and if you buy, you ay or may not receive your Android. The address in Hololly hill does not exist either.

      • Cuchy R

I just got the same letter right now!!! and Im so glad to find out through this website that it is a scamm- Thank you Everyone!!

    • James

Just got off the phone w/them. You have to go to a group sales promo, minimum 90 minutes. I would have done it if U could verify the specific tablet. When she described it she touted the general features including “internet connection anywhere”. Even if the tablet was wifi with data plan they made it sound as if the internet or data was included. But of course she would always steer the conversation back to “no obligation and to just go and pick it up, it’s that easy” I politely declined.

    • Kathy

Received a letter re: ‘free’ android today. Called the number just out of curiosity after reading some of the postings. It’s definitely a ‘come on’. You must attend a seminar where they will give u a coupon for the android. Then you send the coupon in to have it sent to you. Don’t know about you, but I don’t have time to waste.

  7. tracy

i hope u feel right at home in ur new house quickly!!!!! and i remember other posts of pics of ur whole family.ur oldest and youngest look just like you.and ur middle son looks like the daddy.i bet ur so proud of ur family.good job!

  8. Valerie

My sister’s hard work has finally started to pay off. She has always encouraged her kids to make her breakfast in bed for Mothers Day. For several years it was things like, some crushed Doritos, slice of torn bread and butter, and warm Kool-Aid because the kids weren’t old enough to cook on their own. She would buy granola bars to make it a little more palatable for her but they would end up eating them before they got served to mom. Now that they are older and kitchen approved she gets a real breakfast of coffee, eggs, bacon etc. I actually miss seeing the picture of the wrinkled paper plate with the “breakfast” on it she would send me before she enjoyed her gourmet meal.

    • Tonya

      I love that story!!!!

  9. cat

Loved your sweet card from piper. she looks like such a sweetie.

my high- watching the rain storm with my baby girl. our conversation “momma, i like your nose, i like your mouth, i like your ear rings, i like your bra ( i guess that was the closest thing she saw next on my bra strap)… then she followed with.. momma you’re perfect”

my low- still having a stupid cough. been sick for over a week now!!

  10. Ashley

Lows- my 18 month old wakes up around 6am, doesn’t nap and has crazy bad tantrums The only thing/recognition I got for mother’s day was a card from hubby (kids are too young), meanwhile he bought himself some new tools.

Highs- my kids can be sooooo loving when they’re in a happy mood. Also, my husband peaked at my ‘to do’ list and completed some of the chores after I accidently fell asleep while tucking our daughter in. Oh, and warm weather!!!!!

  11. Amy

I know that feeling of moving and leaving behind the home full of memories. We’ll be moving for the third time in three years in just a few months. On a positive note, it will be our last move for a VERY long time. While I’m not looking forward to uprooting and moving again, I can’t wait to have a permanent home. No more renting ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Cindy

We are going through the same thing here except it will be next month for us! We moved to the West Coast from the South last year with our two kids 2 and 5 and now are buying a house after renting for a year here. Alot of change but ready to settle down so understand what you are going through (I am even having some heartburn/gerd issues from the stress this week). Anyway, will pray that all goes well for ya tomorrow. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Laura

High- my almost 5 month old had a 3 hour nap, unswaddled. The longest she has ever gone was 45 minutes so this was REALLY exciting. She is not a great napper to begin with!
Low- Hubby has been out of town on business all week so it’s just hard when he’s gone.

  14. Teri

Congrats on your new digs! You have made a warm, inviting, loving home for the next family to create memories too. My high this week, is finding out that my neighbor is going to be okay after suffering a serious medical condition. Yeah!!!! My low is dealing with Virgin Mobile, I have no service, no access to data, they are over-billing me at the same time offering no customer service. The monthly rate is great, the service and the company are not worth it. Any suggestions on another all inclusive phone plan is welcome. That could be my high for next week, porting to a new service provider…..

  15. Kb

My high this week is finding out we are having a girl! The low is finding out I have a low lying placenta and if it doesn’t move I will have to have a c-section. But the baby is healthy so that’s all that matters.

    • Laura

Congrats on your girl! I have a 5 month old baby girl. It’s so much fun!! Praying your placenta moves!!

  16. F

    Thats awesome!
Anyways, I have a question… Remember that $2 off any Kotex from along time ago? Maybe March? Did any of you have any problems using that?

    • A smith

I was able to use Kotex U $2.00 off at Walmart on $1.24 liner and used overage on groceries w/o problems.

  17. Emily

Aww, I know what you mean about saying goodbye to your old house and it being a sad experience. When I was 24 and living in another city, my parents sold my childhood home out from under me. They weren’t even looking to buy a new house when they happened to drive by one that they fell in love with. Within 2 weeks they had their offer accepted and put theirs on the market. Seven years later, I still cry when I drive by my old house on the way to their new one. I miss every thing about it, I never, in 100 years expected them to move. I was not mentally prepared for it.

  18. Amy

When you get settled in your new home you should make another video tour of it. I loved the one of this last home! So many good ideas! Best of luck with the move!

  19. Ashley

How precious! You HAVE to keep that “foor ever!” My mom has a paper saved that I wrote in first grade. I was supposed to write somthing about the person that I admire the most…well, I wrote about my Dad. She quotes me all the time because I wrote “I love my daddy the bestest!” ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Christina

Collin, I remember last time you moved..I moved and now you sold a home.. We just bought our first home. I am so excited to not have to move again. We are doing work on it for a few months and will be in it ๐Ÿ™‚ our children have to start in a new School too. My daughter is the only one who will experience a new school for the first time. Any suggestions on how to make the transition on a girl easier from anyone you know or yourself? I think she’s getting anxiety about it. So that’s my low for this week. My high is spending time with a long time friend, Mother’s Day and visiting my new home ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Christina

Sorry.. Good luck with your transition and I can’t wait to see what you do with your new house becoming a home ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. June Gwinn

Good luck at your closing. Keep your “happy face” on!

  22. Pam

As I get older and now have
Two young kids I have noticed that
All “goodbyes” get harder and harder.

Good luck and have fun making New memories in your new home.

  23. Janice

Your old home was just perfect – you made it so beautiful. I am sure your new home will be the same. When you get settled I would love to see how you decorated it etc.
I LOVE YOUR DECORATING STYLE!!!!!! Please share……

  24. Sandy

My high this week is making great progress in eliminating excess in my home. Streamlining, minimizing is feeling like the perfect fit for me.

My low this past week…..Can’t think of one. It’s been a great week!

  25. Ketsy

My husband is on vacation ans since he upgraded my vehicle, we didnt travel. This is still my high. Weve vegged out all week, done crafts together, taken pictures, cleaned and painted. No lows. ๐Ÿ˜€

  26. Tonya

Congrats on the new home. I hope you all have a smooth transition!

The letter is adorable!! I wrote my sweet parents letters all of the time when I was little and I still do. I always thought they didnt mean much bc i do it often to show how much I appreciate them. A couple of years ago I found TONS of old handwritten papers and cards on both my mom and dads side of the closet! Many drawings from my 3 brothers were in there. It was really touching. People really do appreciate a gesture to show gratitude or love ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. Holly

My high: having kids who have done great things for me this week like rubbing my back and giving me hugs. Low: not getting a return phone call for a job that I did a phone interview for last week. I’m ready for change, even if it isn’t ready for me. My next high: hosting a birthday party for my dad Saturday for his 73rd. His siblings, kids and grandkids will all be there to help him celebrate. So happy for the great day with family!
