Just to let everyone know, new mendates in insurance law has allowed all breast feeding mothers qualified for a free breast pump starting january 1 2013. Please contact your health insurance company to verify if your insurance covers it. Along with breast pump, new mom can also get reimbursed for the supply. You have to check with your insurance company to see which pump qualifies for reimbursement and if you have to purchase the pump from a particular vendor or you can purchase the pump from any vendor and then sumbit for reimbursement. Big victory for breast feeding.
This is immensely helpful information; thank you very much!!
Absolutely look into this! I have anthem blue cross blue shield and I just got my free breast pump. Just had to get a script sent to a medical supply company and I am now a proud new owner of a Ameada Purely Yours Ultra breast double electric breast pump for free! Finally something good happening for the middle class!
Ashley- what do you think of the Ameda Purely Yours double electic breast pump? I have the same insurance and also qualify for that breast pump and was wondering if it was a good breast pump or if I was better off purchasing one on my own. I am still a few months away from delivering and have been hoping it was a decent pump that they provide. Thanks
What Do You Mean By Supply? My Little Guy Is One Month So I Already Bought A Pump But My Insurance Won’t Cover It Until It Renews On July 1…
From what I understand, it covers milk storage bags or bottles, ( I do not know how many) breast pump cups and tubings (one time). Just like diabetic pump is covered with its strips and needles, same principle.
Save your receipt, because you may have upto a year for submission.
My insurance covered 80% of the cost of my breast pump.
thanks for info, just sent message to my daughter. baby just turned 1 month June 3.
mabe she can get reimbursed for pump she bought yesterday
Hi! Does anybody knows if Kaiser pays for a breast pump?
Thank you in advance! 🙂
Aetna does- I just called yesterday. You must call one of the providers they work with within 60 days of the birth. So excited! I am getting a Medela Pump in Style for free! I had one with my twins five years ago but gave it away since then. About to have another (:
You really have to jump through so many hoops to get the free pump. I had a baby in Dec and got my pump in Jan. Not very many were covered, but it’s a great deal if you have time to deal with the hassle!
I bought a medela electric double braest pump and never even opened it, I could not return it because it is an item that even if closed is not returnable. Whicb by the way h they never told me and i did not know. I wish my insure would reimburse something, now I have 290 dollars in my closet 🙁
Try selling it at a consignment store or through Craigslist – you can represent that it has never been used, and the person who buys it always has the option of purchasing new tubing for it if they so desire. You will definitely be able to get back some of your money that way!
This was a year ago but i had to supplement for my daughter because she was johndis so they said i couldnt leave with out a double pump and i only got a single one adn the doctors called my insurence company and they would cover it but it would take a few weeks so my husband drove two hours away to pick it up so we could leave the hospital. They also gave us a carseat too, we ended up giving it to my cousin in need of one but call and see what they provide some also cover helments and other things.
I own two medela double electric pump in styles I hate them so now I’m trying this Simplisse breast pump! I pray it’s amazing
