Haven’t bought this in years for two reasons: prefer to not put the chemicals into the system when I don’t have to, especially with a septic system; and never did like caustic chemicals in my house with children.
For years I have cleared standing water or routinely used for maintenance to prevent such, using simple ingredients. Baking soda (yes, like you bake with), vinegar, salt.
Pour a generous amount of baking soda in your drain opening (usually about 2C. or so, more won’t hurt); add about 1/4 – 1/2 C salt on top of baking soda; pour about vinegar over top of pile (about 1 pt or 2 C). This is fun to watch cause it will really work & bubble. Just let it sit and work for a good 30 min. and then flood with hot water and I bet your drain runs clear, or at least better than b4. There have been times that I’ve needed to do more than one treatment, but very rare.
Got a slow running sink in the bathroom now that I’m needing to do-probably my long hair. 🙂 I just hate to use chemicals when there is a much simpler way that works so well. Hope that this helps someone else to have clearer, faster drains!
