Mark your calendars! Starting this Sunday, July 28th through August 3rd, rumor has it that OfficeMax will once again be offering up a large variety of backpacks and messenger bags for just 1¢ after MaxPerks Rewards!

Keep in mind there is typically a limit of 2 backpacks/messenger bags per member and this offer will be available in-stores, online and by phone while supplies last. If you are planning to take advantage of this great deal, I suggest that you head to your local store early Sunday morning to ensure you have the best selection. If you’re planning to shop online, I will post something early Sunday morning to remind you.

To qualify for the MaxPerks Rewards, you MUST use your MaxPerks ID during the checkout process! Bonus Rewards for these offers, along with any other rewards that you may have earned during the same period, will be issued in the next statement cycle in the form of a Reward Card redeemable toward future purchases at OfficeMax. Please note that MaxPerks Rewards cannot be used to purchase gift cards.

If you’re not a MaxPerk member, no worries…head over here to sign up or sign up at your local OfficeMax store or by calling 1-866-MAXPERKS. The MaxPerks program is open to teachers, businesses and for home use.

YAY! I love this sale each year! We always get one new backpack for my son and one new backpack to donate. He gets to pick out both ( a big deal for a 4 year old) Love, love, love it.

    • Krissy

are they decent backpacks? Last year we bought the boys “cheap after rebate” backpacks at Menards and they were AWFUL! The inside lining was constantly flaking off and left a mess everywhere they went. Luckily, we bought a bunch, so they were able to switch backpacks about half way through the year. We decided that we’re not going to bother with those this year.

      • trina

These are TOTALLY different than the Menards ones! We bought my husband one of the Office Max ones last year (Swiss Gear brand) and it is awesome and no problems. Yes, we did get some of the Menards ones too (a diaper bag for my little one) and it has held up for us, but we use it very little (maybe 2 times a week) and me or my husband carry it (not a little one!). i believe you get to pick out the backpack up to a certain cost, so you can read up on the reviews for the backpacks that you are interested in. last year, we got one of the higher cost ful laptop backpacks, and have been really happy with it. material has held up and it’s still going strong… use for work, travel, etc.

        • Jess

You can view next weeks sales ad online at OfficeMax currently. It appears there is only one backpack for this deal this year, unlike past years when you had a huge selection. It is 49.99 and you get back 49.98 in maxperks rewards. I bought a shoulder bag last year and used it every day for work for almost a year and it’s held up great.

  2. Amy

Thank goodness! I was late on this last year and they didn’t have the selection left to get what I needed for my little guy.

  3. tina

How does this rewards program work again? Is it like Staples where you get a rebate check back that you can use in the store, or do you get actual cash back?

  4. Tiffany

So, I sign up for the card, then July 28th I got to office max and buy the backpacks and then when I check out with my card, it will be only .2 cents.

    • Jessica

Is this correct? I’ve never shopped at Office Max but that sounds like a great deal!

      • Tammy

no you will get a rebate check the next quarter that you can turn around and use on other maxperks products and start rolling your rewards

    • Anna

Any body else know what else is in sale this week? Also, How long to you have to use the rewards when you get them? Thanks!

      • Grace

You have 90 days to use the rewards.

    • Christi

No, you will pay full price, then be refunded the amount in a printable reward in the next “reward cycle”

      • Tiffany

Ok, Thanks, I’ve never shopped at Office Max before, just wanted to know how it works.

    • Jess

You have to pay full price for the backpacks, which were kinda pricey last year. But the quality was great. You will get a reward card to use in the store, which I think you have 90 days to use before they expire. You can also roll the maxperks rewards with OfficeMax, but you have to pay attention due to them expiring.

  5. Rose

Can I use the MaxPerks Rewards to purchase MaxPerks-Rewards items next time?

    • Jenn

Rose, I was wondering the same thing …

      • trina

Sorry, I didn’t really answer very well! Yes, you can use Max rewards to purchase new Max rewards items. They do roll. I have been doing this for 1 1/2 years. Works like a charm! Just concerned for the future of the program!

    • trina

Yes, my one word of caution is Office Max and Depot have merged and it will be effective Jan 1, 2014. This scares me that Office Max’s SUPER GREAT rewards program will become not so great!

      • MARIA

WHAT?!?! is this true!?!? I haven’t heard about the merger!! I love the office max program I hope they don’t mess a good thing up!!

        • trina

I totally AGREE! Yes, it is true, it was announced several months ago, I received an email from office Max as I am a perks member. It was also on the news. Both companies are continuing on there own until 1-1-2014, and then who knows what. I asked my office Max manager, and he said they didn’t know either. I have decided we will probably get a bag, and then use the rewards on antivirus (which we will need) and then we will just keep rolling our money as needed, but the antivirus will eat up a lot of my rewards! Hopefully Office Max’s program doesn’t change, but it still makes me nervous!

    • Sharon

Yes, that’s what’s great about Office Max! You can roll the rewards that you have earned during each quarter to purchase more items during the next quarter that will earn more rewards. This can really add up to a lot of “freebies”! Or you can choose to use the rewards on printer ink or whatever else you need. Office Max is totally AWESOME!!!

  6. Conswalla

What’s the average price of these book bags?

    • Alla

I was gonna ask the same question. Hope will get one for my little guy for his first year of school.

    • makaylaisabel

These are usually on the high side. They are great quality but be prepared to spend a bit. Last year the lowest were probably 29.99 and then 39.99 and some even way more. Consider your need of ink, etc. so if you will roll the rewards why not. Last year they had the NFL ones which was great and then some of the great brands like Swiss mentioned by others 😀

    • Grace

They start at $29.99 for the cheapest ones, and go up from there. Most of them are $49.99 and $59.99.

  7. Conswalla

I also have a $5 off $25. Can I use it for the book bags and get the rewards as well?

    • makaylaisabel

Ye sit will lower your out of pocket expense but you went get full rewards only up to what you paid.

  8. Paula

I’m glad they are offering this again this year. Last year I ordered one and they ended up running out of the pack I ordered 🙁
Fingers crossed I get one this year!

  9. crissy

The closest office max is a little far for me. Last year, I was waiting for Staples to do this sale, but they never did. (they did the year before). Hoping they do it this year!

    • Jane T

Go online! You still get the same deal and usually delivered for free! 🙂

  10. mindy

I’ve been saving my max perk points for this. Didn’t want to buy office supply stuff for the last few weeks. I got 2 book bags last year about $30-35 each. My daughter (8yrs old) used it for the whole year and it’s still looking good…probably will last another year.

  11. Grace

The 07/28 ad is posted on OfficeMax.com. The ad for the Charlotte, NC region is specifically for an OGIO Supersized Backpack for $49.99 ($49.98 MaxPerks Rewards), Limit of 2. Looks like the lower priced backpacks are not included in the deal this year?!? 🙁

    • Stacy

boooo. I see the same thing. I have a kindergartener. Supersized will not work.
