Happy Friday: Homemade & Frugal Pot Rack
Sent from reader, Wendi:
I have been shopping for a hanging pot rack for sometime now. They’ve ranged in price anywhere from $50 at Walmart to easily over $150 at kitchen shops. My house is small and my budget is limited. So one evening, I got creative and raided the other rooms in my home for an object I could re-purpose as a pot rack.
I found a wood block votive candle holder in my guest bedroom, turned it upside-down, drilled holes in the bottom (now top) of the block and attached chains I had on hand to hang it from my kitchen ceiling. I then screwed an opened-eyed hook into each of the 10 votive cups and hung my pots! The entire project came in UNDER A DOLLAR after using a $7.20 gift card to the Home Depot to purchase hooks and anchors.
Although I had ” Pinterest-perfect” ambitions of using a weather-worn ladder or antique sled in lieu of my candle holder, I found that in taking what I already had and “tweaking it” with a little creativity, I created something inexpensive that suits the space perfectly.
HAPPY FRIDAY! 😀

it wasnt collins craft idea. it is a happy Friday post,he reader wendi had done this project
Wow that is really creative and useful! I’ve also been looking for a pot rack. Although I’m not half as handy at making things as most people, I will definitely be on the lookout for items that can be re-purposed into a pot rack! Thanks for the idea.
That actually looks like a high end pot rack, so great job!
Now, that’s clever. I love that idea! 🙂
WOW! GREAT JOB!!
Love it!
Love this. Great idea
Awesome! Very creative!
Wow! That looks great! Love when things come together like that for an awesome one of a kind piece!
I love it Wendi!! Wish I was that creative!
It looks perfect, great job Wendi!
thats really very nice.. n under budget … thanks for sharing!
I have a very very small kitchen and so that is such a great idea! Thanks for the input!
I’ve seen people use bike rims, garden gates, curtain rods…. even old wooden tool boxes! If there is nothing at home that proves useful, I’d try hitting up Goodwill or garage sales. If it’s a wooden item you intend to use, you can always screw your hooks into it, as I did. If it’s metal, just make sure the part you intend to suspend the pots from has a small enough diameter to accomodate “s” hooks. Good luck!
Wendy, I definitely think your pot rack is ‘pinterest’ worthy. You should post it.
I have a very Pinterest-savvy friend who did me the honor of posting it on Pinterest for me. Truth be known, I can’t seem to find time for coupons AND Pinterest 🙂 One addiction is quite enough! 🙂
Love DIY projects. Awesome!
Way to go!!
Really pretty! Looks very professional.
WOW! Before reading your story I said to myself, “That looks like a pretty pot rack”.
Very nice, Wendi, and it looks like it just belongs in that spot. Wish I was that original…and you did it yourself. Wow! Love these kinds of ideas.
Love it!
this IS pinterest worthy, great job.
Great job, Wendi! I found your Pin! https://pinterest.com/pin/123426846010725849/
Love it! I also love your pots. Gives me a spark of inspiration…
That is so cute and creative!
Way to go!! Looks Beautiful!!
Pardon me for the gaping mouth! This is an EXCELLENT way to upcycle and get an extremely practical solution to a cluttered kitchen! I’m going to have to duplicate your idea, you know? I’ll give you credit, though, when all of my friends mimic my gaping mouth! 😀
I saw on Pinterest where people take old wooden ladders and hang them horizontally from their ceiling in their laundry room for a clothing rack…I soooo want to do that too and I’m going to the flea market tomorrow to see if I can find a ladder to use.
Believe it or not-my husband did the same thing basically-in the garage-for our bicycles (& the kids big wheels, etc.) for winter storage. He took a big beam like that & hung it from supports in the garage with hooks just like that. It works wonderfully to get all that stuff up off the floor when not in use or thru the winter.
Awesome job but I’d like to know how much weight does each hook accomodate?
The hooks and anchors I put in the ceiling accommodate up to 50 pounds. The open-eyed hooks didn’t specify a weight limit. My entire rack (including pots) weighs just over 30.
I really like this! I wish my pots and pans looked so nice, shinny, and clean.
VERY COOL! I loved that you used things you already owned as opposed to going out and buying stuff
Great job Wendi! I love when you can create something new by re-purposing items from around the house. It’s looks great!
