It looks like you don’t need to be a max rewards member, but that a regular member could do it. Is that the case?
Just read about this offer this morning. Read the fine print. You are authorizing Sears and Visa to send you eight text message ads a month, in addition to texts each time you make a qualifying purchase. Further, you are allowing the companies to review over a year’s worth of your purchases so they can better profile you.
Not sure $7 is worth losing that much privacy.
I signed my card up months ago and have yet to receive one text message!!
I did not get points either after signed up.
If I got any it was only a few text messages. As in getting the $7, I got mine awhile after I made a purchase with that visa card at Sears.

The privacy thing doesn’t seem that big of a deal. They’re just texts and a few purchases. Unless you’re doing something suspicious it shouldn’t be a problem for most people.
I got an email last week letting me know that I had $7 in Shop Your Way points. I went to Sears and got some clearance plates, bowls and a spatula – total was $6.78. Got everything free!
Have you seen the iPhone app and the activity card? You can earn 30 dollars. And if you were a VIP 60.
I didn’t get the reward points either.
