I’m No Robot…

Hip2Save may earn a small commission via affiliate links in this post. Read our full disclosure policy here.

Behind this computer screen, there is a person. No robot here. I have feelings, values, I have a voice, I am sensitive and can be loud at times. I am me.

I laugh often…

I cry…

I make mistakes…

I had no clue that my Target deal would create so much controversy. Had I known, I am not sure I would have posted. Not because I feel I did anything wrong but because the comments… well, got a little or I should say a lot out of hand. I truly value all of your opinions – even if you disagree with what I did. And I honestly like hearing what all of you have to say. I learn new things every single day from my readers. However, when the language starts to get inappropriate and bashing on one another and myself happens, it makes me feel sad about posting.

When you sit behind a computer screen, you are invisible. You can say what you want knowing that no one really knows who you are. But the question is, would you say the same things to someone’s face? Would you share your thoughts just the way you did when commenting?

If you aren’t comfortable reading Hip2Save any longer because you disagree with what I did, I understand. There are tons of other fantastic frugal blogs out there that may be better suited for you.

I’m not going to apologize for posting the deal I scored. I will, though, apologize for letting the commenting get out of hand. I want this site to be positive and fun. I want you all to smile and feel giddy when you hop on Hip2Save. ๐Ÿ™‚

And yes, I will be moderating comments on this post as I’m keeping things positive tonight!

Collin.Thank You for All that have taught me.I wonder where all those people who blasted you are now that Target is still saying the deal is legit not a “glitch” that they are honoring.

  2. Sarina K

I say THANK YOU! I got a $45 watch for a $3 pair of earrings. I think it was a wonderful deal. Thank you so much.

I just went today and the girl at the jewelry counter told me about the deal not knowing that I already knew. She said it was a great time to buy a watch because it was BOGO and the register takes off the higher priced item. She even led me to the clearance to show me what I could do. I also received a catalina coupon for the same offer last week while I was at Target….it’s legit.

  4. Eridqua

Collin, I visit your website every single day to view the deals and I LOVE everything about it. Thank you for teaching me how to save money and for showing me where the deals are!! I appreciate all that you do!

  5. Amie

When you stop and look at it, they have not pulled the coupon. They have acknowledged it and even still you didn’t fool the register by doing anything. If someone chooses not to do the deal then so be it. It is a great deal and I was able to snag a nice watch for my sil for her birthday and my hubby snagged a nice watch for his dad for Xmas. We are on a budget this year and this helps tremendously so thank you for posting it.

Maybe I should drink some.;) lots of love from Texas!!

You obviously have a devoted following! WOWZA! You are at almost 600 comments!

Just goes to show how much your readers LOVE YA!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

So keep on keepin’ on and ignore the naysayers (they do seem to be in the minority fortunately!)

Colleen, just keep in mind โ€œBe who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.โ€ It was nice of you to tell everyone of the Target deal. I got my free watch and a pair of earrings ๐Ÿ™‚

    Sorry Collin**

I was really saddened by the negative comments yesterday. People seem to forget that there is a person behind all these posts. I was selected for a happy friday post a few months back and there was a lot of negative feedback on my photo and it was really upsetting to me.

I cannot imagine how you felt yesterday with the negative postings.. Thank you for your blog, I don’t know what I would do without it!

    • Elaine

I’m sorry that you had that experience Jamie. I really am astounded by people’s lack of etiquette, tact and social skills sometimes.

Dear Colin, so glad you got a great deal! What my wife and I have learned is that not all deals are available in all areas. All we do is to try our best. If someone gets a great deal and posts it, we should be happy for them. They are posting it to bless us and trying to help others to get a good deal. We shouldn’t be upset or jealous, but grateful no matter what comes our way. Thank you for all your hard work and helping us. Keep up the great work! Blessings to all of you and your family!

Not sure what all the fuss was about but sad to hear any one is posting not nice things! I think you are great and I rave about your site and recommend it to everyone! I actually told my hubby the other day you were my hero when he asked what web site I was looking at! Keep up the great work! You are inspiring!

  13. Jenn

Keep up the HARD AWESOME work Colin! I appreciate all you do for all of us to keep this site going and the hot deals coming it, it’s not easy!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!

  14. Christine

Collin I have no idea what deal you are talking about. But people can be so negative behind a keyboard. I just want to thank you for all of your tips and the time you dedicate.

  15. Stephanie

I respect you for making this post. I agree with you 100% and love your blog more and more each day. Thank you for the MAJOR amount of time you spend each week to help us all live a frugal life! We love you Collin!

  16. Beth

Thank you so much for what you do! It is really appreciated by so many of us. Please do not let the negative people discourage you, just know that so many of us are really thankful:) Unfortunately, many people love to be negative about things, especially when they are semi-anonymous. Keep up the great work!

Still worked this evening in VA. Bought three pairs of sterling silver studs on clearance for $5.06 and got a white timed for free (orig. $40). Thank you! Coupon worked with no problems!

    • Lylee

      Oops. White TIMEX.

  18. katie

Don’t let the haters get you down, Collin. You are loved! I would totally do the deal if I had a smart phone.

  19. Tia

Thank you for all that you do. Please do not allow the negative comments discourage you. You have helped make such a difference in my family and friends lives.. We check your site several times daily and it has helped us so much in this struggling economy. Thank you for all that you do!

  20. Michelle N

I didn’t see the post you were writing about, but I agree with all of the comments posted previous to mine. You are an awesome person and I Love your blog! I don’t know what I would do if you stopped posting all your deals, advice, etc. I have learned that some deals work in certain areas/stores and some don’t. Not all people are patient enough to understand that. Thanks for all that you do!!

  21. Jennifer

You are a beautiful individual. Try not to let others affect how you feel about yourself! Next time step AWAY from the madness & go hug your hubby! He know you & loves you. ๐Ÿ™‚
    Thanks for the great deal!!

  22. Susan Swinford

    Thank you Collin!

  23. Marcie

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

My Dearest Collin…I am a single mother of six children…I support my kids with child support from one child and make about $25,000 a year. I’m unemployed in the summer. I started following you this last summer because, short of dying, I didn’t know how to make it through the summer on my income because my boyfriend left me in January and so did his income. Living on $300 a week unemployment and $360 a month child support was the hardest thing EVER. I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE SUMMER WITHOUT YOUR TIPS AND POSTS!!!!!!!!!!! That is the honest truth. I’m back to work now as a pre-school teacher and it has been very busy juggling it all BUT I CHECK YOUR BLOG NEARLY EVERY NIGHT…and if I don’t I am SAD!!!! I actually fall asleep reading your blog sometimes. I have managed to support my family on my piddly income AND have some Christmas presents bought and stored away, not to mention BRAND NEW clothes for the kids for next summer (that I bought CHEAPER than Salvation Army prices or Goodwill WITH shipping!!). There is, honestly, not enough I can say to thank you for what you do on here. You are an amazing woman. Truly!

    • Christina

Oh…and PS…I got a pair of earrings FOR MYSELF (who knew I could buy things NEW for myself!?) AND a very nice watch for my Techno ADHD/Asperger 14 year old son for Christmas that is going to love me FOREVER!! All for $2.58. I shop at Target ALL THE TIME…I found no problem doing this deal and the cashier never batted an eye. I was happy for TWO DAYS about this deal. ****BIG HUGS TO COLLIN****

      • Pam

        That’s awesome!

  25. Pam

I don’t own a phone with text so I was out of the loop with this deal. I wished I could have gotten the deal but I had to pass it up AND it looks like I avoided all the negativity of people who are ungrateful. I applaud Collin for not putting up with it. ๐Ÿ™‚
    :). :).

  26. LaKendra

Yeah, what they (folks expressing love and appreciation for you and your crew, Collin) all said…hip, hip…to save! Hip, hip….to save!

Decide the breed of dog you want to cultivate. In older
dogs it is probably onee of the leading causes of death. Somehoww having their own sace eases the
separation anxiety that most dogs experience.
