As you know, Target has their Christmas items on sale from 30%-50%. I was able to score some good deals though I did not have any coupons. All holiday Ziploc items are 30% off at my local Target making the gallon freezer and storage bags $1.49 each! I was very happy about that!

(Thanks, Marissa and Anna!)

Completely off topic: did everyone receive their online purchases before Christmas? According to the news this morning, UPS and FedEx were behind on shipments. I was lucky and got everything.

    • Carrie

Nope. Still waiting for a gift for my dad.

      • Ashley57

Nope, didn’t get a gift for sister in law and my mother didn’t get a gift for her mother. Both should have had plenty of time to get here.

    • mkw

Yes. But the deals I ordered last minute were not for Christmas gifts. Leaving gifts to the last minute doesn’t allow for human error, bad weather conditions for delivery, low inventory levels, etc. I adore my UPS guy. He works so hard all year. Was even at my house at 4:30 on Christmas Eve with an Amazon order (Father’s Day gift). I think the shippers haven’t been given a fair shake in all of this controversy.

      • Ann Marie

I agree. My UPS guy is awesome. He knows I have small kids and if he delivers around nap time, he doesn’t knock. So thoughtful! Also if packages are delivered in original boxes ( toys in boxes with pics of toy, etc) he does his best to turn packages so they can’t see them. He is amazing!

        • Barb

fed ex actually came to my house on christmas day for a delivery. i thought they were closed but i guess they had to work.

        • Emily

Make sure you tell UPS about the guy being so thoughtful. I’m sure they love to hear stories about that and they’ll give him some commendation. I work for a hospital and if someone writes in and says how great a particular nurse was, we give the nurse a thank you card with a small $5 gift card in it. It isn’t much but it sure makes them smile to know a patient cared enough about their work to send in comments. I’m sure other companies have similar policies.

      • Mea

I agree. I feel like I use and abuse my UPS/Fed Ex workers due to the fact that I do nearly all my shopping online (taking my kids to the store is NOT fun, lol). Its too bad that some things didn’t arrive before Christmas (we had one gift for my daughter that didn’t make it in time), but its the nature of the beast. I appreciate my Fed Ex and UPS drivers!

    • Rachel

Our family was missing two gifts, including one that showed it had been out for deliver for two days, but never made it to the house. One of the two showed up Christmas eve at 9:45 p.m.! Felt sorry for the delivery man.

I thought the shipping promises made by online retailers seemed a little ridiculous this year…”Order today, have it tomorrow!!” As the PP said, that doesn’t allow for all sorts of external factors that could delay things. Next year, they should be more careful about their promises to consumers.

My husband works for UPS and has been working around the clock. After 14 hours everyday, they have to be back, no matter if all of the packages aren’t off their trucks. Christmas Eve he delivered late into the night and when he took a package to a man at 7pm, he had the nerve to say “I’ve only been waiting for this all day!” He wanted to say, “You and everyone else, buddy.” He returned to the center with only 4-5 packages that night, after 260 stops, i didnt think that was bad. Glad to see some people realize that if you order in the last week before Christmas, it may not be humanly possible for it to get to your house. I know I have an LLBean backpack sitting in Kentucky, hopefully it gets here soon, luckily it wasn’t for Christmas.

      • Courtney

the delivery men and women do a wonderful job. they give up their family time to take packages all around. and thanks to the people who work retail with all the grinches. and the movie theater people who work all day on Christmas when practically everyone is off.

      • Joy

I agree. My bro works for UPS and has been busting his hump for the last few weeks. He almost didn’t make it to Xmas Eve at my house. Not UPS fault that all these companies promise moon and stars for delivery. Too short of time between Thanksgiving, too many free ship deals and bad weather caused major backlog. Even post office has been behind in delivering packages and letters.

      • Emily

Tell you family members thank you! It can’t be easy and I feel bad because I ordered furniture and other large items only to come home and find them lugged up to my porch by the UPS delivery driver. They deserve a big round of applause. Even if packages are late – Christmas isn’t about the gifts. Besides “finding” a gift after Christmas is really fun. My Mom always found one when she was putting away serving dishes or something in our basement, something she hid and couldn’t find on Christmas Eve. It was always fun to us.

    • Su

I got everything I ordered, even last minitue gifts! Mail delivery was A+ this year via FedEx, UPS, and USPS! I even received a delivery from UPS at 6:30 p.m. Christmas Eve. I was impressed!!

    • Jeff Walker

I worked for the season with UPS and hoping to get on after the season. We did out best to deliever all packages, so times their are to many stops and not enough time to do them all, we go as fast as we can. Where I was delievering is country/farms and we out til 7 some nights. I gave my church service to help deliever Christmas stuff, I can’t stand people who are not nice to the deliervy people.

There’s a 5% cartwheel discount on holiday ziplock products

Were diapers and wipes Huggies or pampers brand?

    • amy

I think she said they were the target brand.

    • Tiffany

      Target brand

  8. Rebecca

Are the target brand wipes any good? I hate pamapers and huggies wipes. I use kirkland from Costo, but am low on wipes and need some real quick.

    • jessica

I like target brand wipes similar to huggies imo they are not greesy feeling like pampers

      • Daisy

I disagree, target brand wipes are similar to pampers whereas they have some ‘stretch’ to them and are pretty flimsy. I dislike both of those brands for that reason. Walmart’s wipes are like Huggies. They are both of thicker quality imo.

    • Sarah

I only buy target wipes, we love them.

      • Archana

I love target wipes too!! Very happy with them..

Off topic but christmas wrap, tree decorations, and tissue paper are 80% off at michaels stores better than 50% at target

  11. Imelda

    thank you Ray!

  12. andrea

I went to Target earlier to get some Christmas stuff 50% off. There were 40% off signs on a LOT of the clothing in all departments and sales in most departments. Got a nightgown I have had my eye on for 50% off. Home department had a lot of stuff for 30-50% off. Even got a bag to store my tree in for 50% and so glad for it since the box bit the dust this year.

  13. Kristine Franklin

I went down to the Manchester CT Target and a asked a rep about the holiday print diapers… evidently a woman was there when they opened and bought their entire inventory of holiday print diapers and wipes. So mad, shelf clearing is not nice. Please leave some for the rest of us next time!

On the bright side I did find a hidden clearance item. The Hot Wheels Holiday 4 Pack is ringing up 50% off. They are mixed in with the regular Hot Wheels. Happy Hunting! 🙂

    • Emily

That woman could have triplets at home or run a daycare or be sending them to an orphanage. You never know why she needed them. She obviously got up very early and went there first thing in the morning for a reason.

  14. Abby

I was able to get the Starbucks tumbler for free brewed coffee in January for $15 b/c my Target Starbucks had all their mugs on sale 50% off.

  15. Emily

Each year I buy a roll or two of striped wrapping paper that doesn’t look Christmasy at all but it sold with the Christmas paper. It is red, green, blue, pink, yellow stripes and I think it looks nice. Because it isn’t so Christmasy, there’s always some of that kind left. I buy some of that and use it to wrap all the Birthday presents for the year. It is always in with their tall wrapping paper that doesn’t fit in those cute wrapping paper containers.
