My husband and I are talking about trying for baby #2, we have a four year old little boy and the big concern that comes up with trying for baby #2 is about how we adjust our budget?! Anyone have any good advice about how to adjust a family’s budget for baby #2?? thanks so much ladies!!

    • amy

Maybe start putting money aside as like a baby fund. Maybe its $5 or $20 or $1 but it all adds up.

    • Hillary

The biggest, obvious expense is healthcare and what it will cost financially to birth a baby. If you’re lucky, it’s only $100 co-payment;-)

Otherwise, think about the future and if you’ll regret not having Baby #2 (or more) due to expenses. A lot of people say they couldn’t finance another child in college. That is such a crazy answer in my opinion. If this is something you and hubby really want, cut where you can (cable, entertainment, vacations). Those things will only be memories in time.

      Good luck!

    • Jessica

We are planning to begin trying later this year. To cushion this in to a budget I am planning to save $1000 this year to cover the vast majority of expenses. If we do conceive I will be adding diapers each time we do a grocery trip so that they will be stock piled for when baby arrives and thereafter. I hope these suggestions help!

      • S

As for diapers you can get them for free or almost free (hip2save always post great deals on them) my baby is 4.5 months 15lbs but I started stocking up on diapers since I was preg and now I have up to size 4 stocked up! He’s only on size 2

        • Nikki

How do you get diapers for free? I get the most inexpensive name brand “Luvs” and have only found $1 off coupon :-/ I would love to learn how to cut back on this expense!

          • S

CVS always have super good deals! If you have the store near you, a few weeks ago they have this deal buy $30 worth of diapers and you get $10 in ECB… I had $3 manufacture coupons and also $5 off $30 store coupons .. Each huggies jumbo pack was $9.99 so I got three packs (108 diapers) for about $6!!! =)

            • Nikki

Thanks I will look into that!!

            • S

You’re welcome =) and one time there was this deal where if you join amazon mom you get a $25 credit towards diapers.. I ended up getting 192 size 4 diapers for about $10 after the credit and a&is also clipped coupon! =)

            • S

              I meant s&s*

    • Queen Mum

      I agree with Hillary
Just do it! The money works out. aside from diapers and maybe formula, you won’t notice a big increase in expenses. Plus, it would be great for your son to have a sibling 🙂

      • Dina

Where do I go on the breech nut website to sign up for monthly newsletter, I don’t see it anywhere.

    • Alicia

Breastfeeding is free! And cloth diapering will save you money. Bigger cost up front but saves a lot in the long run!

      • Christa

I spent $200-$300 on cloth diapers and diapered my son from 4 months until he potty trained. Cloth diapers are AMAZING. 🙂

        • Julianna

Is there a specific brand of cloth diapers you’d recommend?

    • Dee

My kid is 17 months old and im 2weeks away from my due date with baby#2. (A suprise baby…no doubt about that) our budget was already quite strict but we made some drastic changes over the last 9months to make room for our unplanned bundle of joy! We were given bum genius cloth diapers free from a relative whos child potty trained, saved us a buttload of money not having to purchase diapers over the last year.
Also, breastfeeding is a huge moneysaver if you can do it. (Its also better for baby since formula is made from milk that is produced with growth hormones) We stopped eating out, and made cuts to our cell phone plans, and had a budget friendly Christmas. We have managed to save so much money without feeling like we are missing out. We also have huge support from family, who made big purchases for our toddler (like the big kid bed) so that we can hand-me down everything when the new baby gets here! If a second baby is what you want go for it, trust me you will find a way to work out the finances!

Signed up for similac a while back hoping to try their formula but haven’t gotten anything from them

    • Mary

Similac samples and coupons usually start 2-4 weeks before your due date

      • S

What if my baby is a few months old?

        • julie

I would email them. I unsubscribed to their emails after a m/c and even though I signed up when I got pregnant again I wasn’t getting anything from them. I called and the lady fixed it for me. HTH!

        • Ma24

You can call them and they will send to you. I called Enfamil the other day and mine is a month old. The are sending me a free can to try.

          • S

            Enfamil so giving out samples?

    • lj

Def sign up with Similac, Enfamil, and Good Start. They all have some kind of program. You don’t usually get any formula until just before your due date. They also will send you checks for formula and free gifts after your baby comes. With my last, I got a bottle cooler with ice pack, baby toy and free formula from Enfamil and an organizer, free similac bottle, and free formula from Similac. So much fun getting the mail when you have a baby.

      • S

So I emailed similac and they said to ask my physician for samples they’re only going to send me coupons… Very disappointed as the offer clearly stated they would send out formulas before signing up -.-

  3. Laura

I just tried the phone number for the Earth’s Own samples and it said it’s no longer in service. Anyone have luck with that number?

    • Laura

Sorry, Nature’s One, not Earth’s Own

  4. MrsHatsell

Is the honest company an auto ship type deal? If I sign up for the bundle kits am I also enrolling in a monthly shipment?

    • Mary

Yes, you get signed up for monthly shipments, but you can easily push out the delivery date online or call to cancel completely. The sample set of their products is great for trying everything. We love the diaper cream and hair conditioning mist (detangler). I’d love if you use my link.

    • MrsHatsell

Never mind. Read the fine print;)

  5. Amanda

Thanks! I signed up for the two magazines and will pick up that 88 cent pregnancy test from Walmart this Friday when I go

  6. Jamie

I signed up for the Similac coupons but it said the promotion was no longer available.

  7. Erin

You’ll start getting Similac closer to due date. Got my first package this week and I am 36 weeks! If you have a Babies R Us Registry it’ll automatically sign you up! My package had 20% coupon two formula cans and supplemental containers! Hoping to breast feed but stocking up just incase!

  8. Ann

    Has anyone tried Citrus Lane?

    • RB

We got our first box last month and I was really happy with it!! They sent an email with a code for a discount, so I was able to get a 6 month subscription for $15.83/month. Sign up for emails and keep your eye out 🙂

  9. Lisa

I love Honest Co. Their healing balm is the best. I use all of their cleaning products. I love that they are safe to use around my infant. I would appreciate it if you used my link to place your Honest order.

  11. tonya

I did they car seat canopy i am using one that i had with my son but they had a whole package deal with a canopy blanket car seat cover for like 79 and the coupon code worked for it so i got 50 off that my little baby girl will be happy she doesnt have to have a blue car seat anymore lol I have also done many of these deals while i was prego. 13. Melinda

Has anyone heard of any special deals or prizes for babies born on New Year’s Day 2014?

  14. Judy

anyone sign up for the Dolly Parton thing? I love the idea of a free book every month, but do I have to create a group for my community? I barely have time to brush my teeth so leading a community literacy program is out.

  15. sarah
