It depends on the thickness of the border. I got a deal for a wedding gift and the frame was only 3/4 not the standard 1.5. I was really disappointed.

At the bottom of the post it says you can get one for $27. Not bad. That’s just $2 more than when you buy both.
If you are handy or have a husband or someone else that can make frames, artscow has their non stretched canvases on sale—these are canvas prints that come rolled up but my husband put them on plywood (he does construction so we always have plenty laying around) using spray adhesive and he builds frames out of old barn boards. This will not work for everyone but for those of you that have access to something like this, it is much more cost effective!!! Since it is a canvas, there is no need for glass. However, I do photography on the side so I always have a pic I want to give to grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc!

thanks, I will check this site out. stretching the canvas out on plywood is not hard. lowes or home depot will cut the plywood to whatever size you want, no charge.
