Anyone have cute unique ideas for non food Valentines? No food allowed due to allergies and I hate doing the usual pencils etc 🙂

I’m looking forward to your non food ideas. Also any party game ideas would be great. I’m coordinating a fourth grade party and would love to find something that we haven’t done before. Thanks for all your awesome posts!

I’m trying to print the cards and it will not load.. anyone else having this problem?

        • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

It loads fine on our end. Sorry you are having trouble!

    • Suzanne H

Here here – can’t send in any food items to the schools anymore!

    • MonnySpendsLess

I snagged Valentines Day stuff on clearance last year so I’m doing goody bags with a mini pack of crayons, a mini notebook and a mini Play-doh with a card that says “crayons are yellow, red and blue…preschool is more fun because of you” (totally copied from a blog, I’m not that creative). Play-doh contains gluten though so stickers may be better if there are a lot of food issues at your school.

A few years ago I purchase a large bag, maybe 100, of punch balls. They have come in really handy for Valentines, Christmas, and even Halloween when we ran out of candy. All the kids loved them. Also, my kids have gotten crazy straws and crazy balloon shapes that they have also enjoyed. The only problem is if the balloons are seen as a choking hazard.

My 4 year old passed out large pieces of Crayola chalk last year wrapped with a piece of paper saying it was from him and Happy Vday. It seemed to be a hit. I’m sure I used coupons on the chalk 😉

Thoughts on where to get these for cheap? Even on Amazon they are too expensive to do this for an entire classroom.

    • Suzanne H

Party City has them for pretty cheap.

  5. paula

Really cute and would probably make these if I had not gotten my sons valentine cards at Dollar General last year for .10 on clearance:)

    • Erin

Yup. I was wondering how many others got their Valentines last year. I found super cute activity Valentines (airplanes, puzzles) at Target last year for .30!

  6. Kim

Where did you get the cute mailbox at?

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Target dollar area 🙂

  7. CW

Just a heads up – other than food restrictions as one person mentioned above (Ex: no candy due to kids having peanut allergies), some schools/districts ban Pop Rocks due to risks to the kids. They don’t want to be liable if it causes a problem (if the kid eats it in class). The same goes for lollipops (choking hazard). So check with your school and/or teacher before you buy this or any other candy, you might be wasting your money.

  8. NotAgain

    Just be careful
Buying candy from the dollar store. Most are made from
China. No quality control there. Besides…didn’t kids get enough junk over holiday break?!

  9. Ashley57

Lina – I am really loving your posts since they started focusing more on re purposing, organizing, etc, more coupon-related topics. They are awesome!

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Thanks Ashley!

  10. ihearthip

It’s just a little happy – I wouldn’t mind if my kid received junk food/candy 🙂 Looks cute and fun. Ofcourse, I would understand if there are food restrictions in the class. I will be using cards I got on clearance last year, but would love to do this idea also!!!

  11. Tiffany

    Cute, not exactly cheap:)

    • Jennine

Thats what i was thinking too… Got valentines cheap after last year and plan on using suckers from halloween clearance ( they don’t expire till spring)

So ladies, I need a spot of help. =D One of our male friends recently went through a pretty bad breakup, and a bunch of us girls have decided to send him stuff for Valentine’s Day.The rest of the girls will be handing him things on 14th but since I am on the West coast, I would like to mail him goodies, but without the billing info/bill. Any inexpensive ideas? I was thinking chocolates/candies, considering he likes non Asian ones (pocky, choco pie etc..).

    • neurotype

whoops I meant “the” Asian goodies, not “non”.

Lina ~ these are precious and so creative! Love the printable! Would be cute with a rock candy stick too. Thanks for sharing!

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Thanks and great idea!

I have some jars of bubbles that I was going to label “You blow me away, Valentine” and give those to my daughters pre-k class. I bought the bottles at the end of summer on sale. I usually stick some in treat bags as a candy alternative.

  15. Rachael

Another non-food item is a homemade crayon in the shape of a heart, or other fun shapes. Take your old broken crayons, break them and mix them up in cute shaped metal trays (try Michaels or Target) melt them in the over and attach a cute cut-out card on card stock. The kids love to write notes with and color.

  16. Beth

Thank you so much! I used these for my son’s preschool Valentine’s. They are so cute!

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      How fun! You’re welcome 🙂
