When my FIL had cancer, my MIL told me that Cheerios are on the Cancer Treatment Center of America’s “do not eat list”. She is an early childhood nurse/educator and was appalled that they are one of the first finger foods we feed our little ones after learning this. I’ve been looking for a copy of that list of foods ever since. If anyone happens to know how to find it, I’d love to know too.

    • Autumn

Wow. I had no idea! Yet, WIC offers Cheerios as one of the lim tied options to choose from! You’d think they’d promote healthier eating habits…

      • Sussie

As a health care professional, it’s very disheartening to hear someone pass along information that is nothing more than propaganda. In particular because this comes from a company that has very questionable ethics. There is a reason why the OP can’t find that list of foods! There is absolutely nothing wrong with eating Cheerios.

    • Sussie

I wonder how much research your in-laws did on the CTCA?

    • Hiral

Hi Nel, I believe there is some misunderstanding here about Cheerios.
Yes its true that Cheerios are on “do not eat” list of American Cancer Society.
But it is the listed under low fiber diet because Cheerios is made of whole grain and high in fiber. So people on low fiber diet should minimize/avoid whole grain products.
In certain type of cancers (especially intestinal / bowel cancers) patient are recommended low residue diet / low fiber diet to avoid irritation in intestine/bowel. Also, a low-fiber diet may be suggested after some types of surgery or if you have diarrhea, cramping, or trouble digesting food. In such cases whole grain products like cheerios should be avoided.

      I hope this helps.

That’s easy if it comes in a box or has one or more non pronounceable ingredient it’s most likely not considered nourishment. Eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and 100% whole grain products. Fresh, local, and organic if possible.

I suspect it may have something to do with GMO’s. It’s pretty hard to reach for anything on a shelf these days that isn’t affected. It is also troubling that the first cereal we feed infants is “rice”, which has a naturally high arsenic content. Everyone must do their own research and make the best decisions they can, but it can be overwhelming.

  9. Joanie

I got a really good deal at Target with these coupons….Target has the Family Size Honey Nut Cheerios on sale for $3.75, I got 4 boxes, used 2 of the BOGO coupons plus target has a coupon for 75 cents off Cheerios so I used two ( wasn’t sure if they would let me use 4 ) of the 75 cents off coupons plus used the Cartwheel and got an additional 5 % off !!!

  10. Priscilla

  16. Crys Rae

I printed two of these coupons, but isn’t it possible to use 2 of these and get 2 boxes of cereal free at Walgreens?

  17. Heidi

How are you able to use the bogo coupon AND the .50 off 1 coupons at Walgreens-aren’t they both manufacturer coupons?

    • Heidi

      Sorry-I meant CVS.

      • Meli

That scenario is buying 8 boxes. Each bogo is for 2 boxes, then the .50 coupons for the other 4 boxes.

        • Heidi

          Oh duh-of course! Thanks! 🙂

  18. Noor

My BOGO coupon didnt work at Target. Not sure why?

    • Laura

I just went to target. I had 2 coupons. They both worked. Plus, they have an offer of buy 4 boxes get one free. So I got 5 boxes and only paid for 2! Sweet!

  19. Jodi

Stop and Shop has all varieties of Cheerios for 1.88, beginning today. Use the Dark Chocolate Crunch .75 q (zip 77477) to get these for .38! (Lt. 2 per transaction)

    • Kate

That’s nice! My Stop & Shop is Mass has it for $2/5 🙁 Roche Bros has it on sale for $1.99 though.

  20. julie marie

Food lion has a bogo free cheerios. How do I use this coupon with that sale. Will I get both boxes free?

    • julie marie

I was not sure if Food Lion would let me do this. But I used the B1G1 free coupon with the B1G1 store sale and I got them both free. I had several coupons. So I was very happy. We use these for a quick breakfast when needed.

  21. Mary

Walgreens now has coupons their Walgreens.com site to link to your Balance rewards card . I used it yesterday to save 30% off of Lay’s chips which were already on sale for $1.99. it took off $1.79 off 3bags! I am guessing you can only use it once so you need to buy as many of an item at one time to get the most from the coupon!

  22. Amanda Preston

Does the link no longer work?

  23. machaleyjack

dollar general has the cheerios buy 2 get 1 free, how would the coupon work?
