Oh boy. I’m probably banned for life at Walgreens! I took in the free Blue Diamond Almonds coupon today (the Olympics USA gold one)and gave it to the cashier. She loudly said I can’t take that! Well, I hate to be embarrassed in public so I kept my mouth shut because other people were behind me in line. I put the almonds and coupon to the side and decided I would go to another cashier because thatis a perfectly legit coupon. She started to take the almonds back and I said I will just take them to another cashier because you always give me a hard time. Bwah! I couldn’t believe I got up the courage to say it to her face out loud. She immediately calls over a manager on the loud speaker (I’m cringing now), and he comes over and politely takes my coupon, scans it with no problem and I got me some free almonds! 🙂 Heh!

I hate cashiers like that! I got over the being embarrassed thing! You aren’t doing anything wrong! Good for you for speaking up!

    • Dorothy

Way to go! That’s good that you spoke up because it is embarrassing when a cashier isn’t nice especially when there’s people behind you and when you know it is good coupon.

    • Janet

I recommend calling corporate about it if a cashier is rude to you. Especially if it is repeatedly. This wasn’t the Barker W. Little York store was it? There’s an assistant manager there that has made me skip that store ever time I go by.

    • Beth

I would have spoken up it is not like the money is coming out of her wallet the store gets the money back I am pretty sure.

Sadly customer service is not a priority for companies anymore it seems like!! Because I have called corporate on a few places over the years and they do nothing, dont get the impression that I’m a cronic complainer it’s just if there is a need to report something you should and they should resolve the issue not make it out like you are the problem!! Just to name a few……cvs, toysrus, target!!!!!,mcdonalds!! Obviously I still shop at these places but I try to resolve my issues in store rather than on the phone !!

Omg is this the Walgreens in Tampa on Platt street??? I’m proud of you for standing up to her!! That Walgreens they loudly told me they dont take coupons on sale items. Then she added even louder “what, do you want it for free? You cant get it for free here”. Well yes, i would love it for free lol!

    • Anna

^^love this! Yes, free please…why thanks for asking! LOL!

    • maja

Had same thing with store manager , he asked me: ” You plan to get it for Like FREE?” he said that very loudly. I was sooo mad. I just left everithing on counter and went outside and called district manager. Guess what happend next? Yes I got my stuff for Like FREE;-)

      • Lena

That’s what they said to me at dollar general. That would be free! I said it’s not my fault u have it on sale and I have a coupon to get get for free. My Walgreens lady is the best. She always looks to see how many point I got and then tells me how many shes has and how she is gonna spend it.

  4. Ajexo

I can’t believe cashiers would speak to y’all like that! My cashiers always say “you can’t beat the price you just paid for everything!”

I have complained at Mcdonalds though! I worked there in high school so I know what is expected of their employees and upon moving to a new town, I was not impressed with my local McDonalds!

I love my Walgreens in Minnesota. They love me too. They call me by name when I enter and I am a huge couponer and they don’t mind. Also you can leave a message with corporate and employees will get rewarded or repremaned according to how you report them. I encourage you to do both report good and bad behavior.

    • Heidi

Amy, what part of Minnesota do you live in? I live in St.Paul and most cashiers are rude over using coupons. The last time I got the deodorant deal for almost free, one of them just walked off the register and got the manager and the manager told me I can’t get them. Another lady told me that I can’t just get things for free and not pay and she loudly called the manager over. Once she found out it wasn’t free and I had to pay some change plus tax, she smiled and said; “well, i guess you can’t get them for free after all”. I ended up getting the deodorant after the manager at that said it was ok, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience. On top off that, does anybody else notice that different registers ( same store) ring up the value of b1g1 free coupons differently?

Having worked retail at wal mart i know how it can be…believe it or not the videos they make you watch before you get hired are informational, i would reccomend ALL stores do this so the employees know everything there is to know…i know when i experience good service i tell tbem to their face because lets face it we live in a world of complainers…when i worked at papa johns i did have a few customers call back to tell my manager how good i was…i think thats a great idea as it not only lets the employee know they are doing a great job but it lets the managers know they have a great crew

i can’t believe the walgreens cashier being so rude, i worked at a walgreens before and customer service was the main priority. also we would get certificates for having a high rating on our customer service. there is a number at the bottom of every walgreens receipt you can call or go online and rate the employee that helped you. now that i think about it there were a few people that were rude

  8. Sussan

Hi!! im new at this couponin thing and Im confused about the coupon booklet, where can I find that booklet?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)
