anyone order from them before? reviews online arent great but wanted to see if anyone had an experience with them. thanks

    • Tiffany

I really like my glasses from glassesshop. The frames aren’t as long lasting as coastal, but I definitely think they were worth the price. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Sussie

After checking out their website, I decided to call them to ask a few questions. It rang a few times then sent me to a voicemail for customer service. This was during their supposedly business hours. Also, I couldn’t find a physical address for them. I finally confirmed what I’d already figured out, this company operates out of China!!!

It bothers me that Glassesshop.com is being promoted on what I consider a reputable blog. However I also realize Hip2save is someone’s business and they aren’t responsible if a customer doesn’t do their research. There are so many big red flags for Glassesshop.com, but consistent with any sites that are out of China.

      • Christie

see my comment blow about a china co.

When I tried to get the free pair from Costalcontacts they said my prescription was too high and it would be $40 :/ I’ll have to put my info in and see here

    • Jenny

I got mine from costal and had no issues and I’m a -7 (nearly blind! LOL!) ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Ashley

        I’m -4.5 and I’m only 26!!!

    • Miranda

      Please let us know!!!

    • Ashley

I have heard that Costal recently changed their policy. On another thread many people recently have been getting charged for higher prescription.

  3. Barb

read reviews that they have horrible customer service. also when i put in my info it told me “my vision is the worst”(i’m paraphrasing of course, lol) and charged me an extra $8 so i think i will pass.

    • brandice

IMO….this is a good deal. I have been wearing glasses.since I was 7 and I am now 34 and pay,up to abt $350 for glasses with insurance. Sure its not name brand stuff but still a good deal

  4. ashley

I have a pair from this site from a few years ago, and they’re not extremely high quality, but they’re not terrible either.

  5. Cara

I was just online looking for glasses deals! My glasses are so bad — I went in for a check and my glasses are 2 points below my current prescription. I have been trying to wait until July when I get vision insurance through my husband’s job but decided I should try to get a pair now as cheap as I can — I’ll check this out, thanks!

  6. Toni

My order went right through so I guess we’ll see. If they work fantastic if not at least I’m not out much $.

    • Cindy

I work at a large university and many of our students order from Zenni and have recommended them. Cute frames too.

    • Joanne Edmonds

Zenni is fantastic! Love the ability to see what they look like on my face, you can even upgrade to photochromatic, polarized, or tinted, and they have flat shipping rate. Myself and many of my friends have ordered from them!

  7. ihearthip

Looks like they have the Good housekeeping seal? Did you all know your measurements when you ordered? I have my prescription but I always forget to ask the dr for that other thing.

  8. Jess

I use zenniopitical for glasses…. They have glasses starting at $6.95 including the perscription lens then it is $4.95 for shipping for the whole order everyday! They also have great customer service… My husband had a lens break on him from a pair he bought a year ago and they replace the len for him no questions asked! We’ve been using them now for 5 years and have never had an issue.

    • amber

Wow! Thanks for this info. Very eye-opening! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am a certified optician and was planning on posting this as well. Sight is our most precious sense and should not be left to chance.

      • Sussie

        Well said!

    • Leighton

Very interesting. I appreciate this post. Thanks.

    • Kim

Any thoughts on these types of glasses for occasional rather than everyday use? I wear contacts 95% of the time and use glasses just to give my eyes a break if they start getting irritated or dry. It’s hard to justify a couple hundred dollars if I only wear them one or two days a month. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Dr. Anonymous

        Kim,
I would take the glasses to your local optometrist and they should be able to verify the prescription at no charge (or at least I don’t charge). However they would not be able to tell you if the lenses are impact resistant or not.

    • tammy

Mine I got at my local optometrist were wrong as well — so it happens when you get them from the optometrist too

      • Jennie

You are right Tammy, it can and does happen at local optometrists as well. We are all human :). However, it is not 50% of the time as shown in the study of on-line purchases and when it does happen with your local eye care professional, correcting the problem is much easier.

      • Dr. Anonymous

        Tammy,
The glasses prescription is usually verified before dispensing to a patient. I’ve seen some that were made incorrectly, but we always send them back before giving them to the patient.

      • Sussie

The difference is you can take them back to your local optometrist.

    • Sussie

Thank you for posting this. I added a post earlier today letting people know this company operates out of China. I don’t my earlier post.

We’ve ordered 3 pairs from zennioptical and we’ve been so happy! I recommend them to everyone. After years of spending hundreds of dollars on glasses I’m so happy to have found cheap glasses. Who cares if they get lost or scratched now, just order another pair.

  10. Emily

If you click on sales and coupons on the top, it has a code for a free first pair, just like Coastal.

  11. Hanneke

I use costco well worth the membership cost for me. My prescription is high and so while I looked around last year the cost of high index lenses alone makes these online retailer deals a huge joke for me, really a $1? What a joke unless you want to walk around with glass bottle lenses! (I checked and the 1.74index lenses were still $128 with average frames, give me costco anyway,)

  12. Nicole

I ordered a pair from glassesshop back in january. I wear contacts but needed a pair of glasses just to wear around the house. They’re ok just needs a little adjusting but nothing major. I paid $15.85 cause I added a couple of things. Then in early March I ordered my grandmother a pair & paid $41 because she needs bifocals. She likes them & says she can see better but that could be because she hasn’t had new glasses in years.

  13. Christie

FYI – Please stay away from a company called Firmoo who runs teaser rates and then more but was so frustrated went ahead with order…it was wrong rx, tint was wrong, and poor quality. They pose as a company in the US but are in China and never could resolved and lost $35! BEWARE of FIRMOO!!!

  14. Christie

Does anyone know if this $1 sale is common? as many are already sold out…

  15. tiffany

Thanks for the referrals to Zenni Optical!! My husband’s glasses are horrible plus he is down to his sunglasses only yikes!!! I decided to look there and the deal here was going to be 23 something and at Zenni it was under 12 for the same plus all the freebies and made in California!!!! Feel a lot more comfortable going through them ๐Ÿ™‚ Hip2savers rock!!

  16. Nurieh

I can’t seem to access the site. Anyone else having trouble?
