This is not a recommended car seat. It makes a deadly booster fit. Just FYI.
Just curious, why is this not safe/recommended? I’m asking in a totally non snarky way. I have two of these, and now you have me wondering.
The lap belt is known to not sit on the lap of almost any child. A seatbelt that rides up on the tummy could cause serious internal injuries to vital organs. This is especially a problem for young children do not sit still or straight enough to keep lap belts low across their thighs or the strong hip bones(but if they arent sitting upright during the entire vehicle ride, they really should be harnessed anyway as the booster can not do its job).
I’m wondering the same thing. I use them right now as a full car seat but wondering if the booster seat is that bad if I shouldn’t get other booster seats for when my kids get a little older?
It places the seat belt over the child’s belly instead of where it is supposed to go. check out the car seats for the littles facebook group. They are really informed technicians. I’ve learned a lot about car seat safety and reccommendations. 🙂
I remembered reading that too- here’s a link from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety https://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/child-boosters/not-recommended
Our daughter’s older Safety 1st Alpha Omega was RECALLED and we were NEVER NOTIFIED! I found out when stopping at a Car Seat Check Point thinking I’d get a pat on the back for having things snugly buckled in, and the technician took it away and replaced it with a new basic 5-point/booster.
Pretty sure this is the same carseat that my Shopko had on clearance a month ago for $39! It made me wonder why they are clearancing it out and after reading the above comments, hmmm. Maybe that’s the case.
In addition to.this not being a recommended seat it is huge front to back. It is perfectly safe in harnessed mode but not for booster with seatbelt mode. If you want a car seat in the same price range then check out the safety 1st guide 65 at Walmart. Only $78 and will keep your child harnessed til 5 or 6 🙂
