I used two Amazon cardboard boxes to make awesome things for my son’s fireman themed birthday party. I got acrylic paint for $0.33/bottle at Micheal’s and sponge paintbrushes for $0.05. My son’s preschool gave me a few sheets of tissue for flames and I bought 10 cakepops from Starbucks and covered them with candy melts (also from Michael’s). The kids all loved eating “fireballs.” I added in a some mini cupcakes and there was more than enough to go around! The Burning Building cost less than $15 to make!

For the puppy pound, I got the stuffed Dalmatians from Oriental Trading, $25/dozen and free shipping! That was the favor from the party so each favor only cost about $2 and the kids LOVED picking out their puppies!

HAPPY FRIDAY! 😀

My son had a diy fireman party for his third birthday last year. I made flames out of cardboard and painted them red, yellow and orange. I set them up throughout the yard and on his swing set. I filled plastic red pails from the dollar store with water balloons and all the kids each got a bucket full and ran around putting out the fires. The kids loved it and eventually went after each other with the remaining balloons.

Super cheap and easy way to make cake pops is to buy the munchkins at Dunkin Donuts (they make a dense cake doughnut) which works perfectly!! The doughnut comes in white and chocolate flavors and are delicious. Then using lollipop sticks and candy melts you can work to get the colors you want. (Hint: melt the candy melts in a double boiler and add 2T of crisco to make it dip a little better!)

Did you also know that you can have your birthday at a local fire stAtion for free? We had my sons 5th birthday party there and it was a hit. The fireman put on all their gear and did a fire safety demonstration. Then the kids got to explore the fire truck while the fireman told them what everything was used for. While we were there they got an actual call and had to go to a wreck so that was exciting for the kids to see them jump in the truck and turn on the sirens.
