Check out what Hipsters have said about this Flat Iron…

Highly recommend! My husband purchased this after reading the reviews on Consumer Reports. It’s as good as, if not better, than the CHI.

I use this DAILY and highly recommend it! I highlight my hair and have naturally wavy/straight hair that’s unruly. It makes my hair look great and better than my $200 sedu or any chi I used. Not damaging at all either – can’t say enough good things about it!

I got this one after my second chi died. This is just as good and has lasted longer than either of my chi straighteners.

This is a great straightener. My teen wanted one for her hair, and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. We got it, & it works great. Highly recommend it!

    I LOVE this straightener!

I got this one for my picky teenage daughter after her chi burned in a house fire and she loves it.

Rwally? I got this straightener based on the awesome reviews and don’t care for it all. I used to straighten every day with my CHI. Now, I hardly straighten my hair anymore… I LOVED my CHI and this is no CHI. It doesn’t work nearly as well.

Its a lower cost alternative to CHI. If you buy a kia instead of a bmw, you know its not going to give you the same ride, but it will get you where you’re going. I got one of these because I did not want to shell out for a CHI. It does a good job for 1/3 of the price. I’ve used CHI, but it didn’t last as long as it should have for the big price tag.

Love love love this straightener- ladies I have that awful wavy hair and I highlight it (so it can get damaged easily), this is non damaging and works great! Used to have a Chi and the $200 Sedu- and it burned my hair… Well worth the $38!

I feel the same way, my Chi absolutely works compared to this straightener. This straightener doesn’t doe anything for individuals with thicker hair.

I have to say I also LOVE this straightener and it has been running like a champ for probably three years now with no signs of dying. I wanted a CHI but could not fork over the money best decision ever =)

Anyone with coarse hair tried this, how does it work?

    • Rebecca

I have very thick, very frizzy/wavy/course hair and this did not work well at all. Also, the heated plate on mine cracked on BOTH of them that I had. I would not recommend this one at all.

      • Renata

Thanks Rebecca, I was about to purchase it.. 😉

    • Jen

I agree with Rebecca, I also have very thick coarse hair and liked my Conair Infiniti much better. I ended up selling it on ebay.

I have thick, coarse hair that’s wavy, bordering on curly. I had a wet to dry Chi which I loved for probably 6 years until someone stepped on it. I bought this as a replacement based on reviews. Complete waste of money and I wouldn’t do it again even if it was a few dollars. I’d rather struggle with my broken Chi than use this flat iron.

I have had a Chi and a Sedu both very pricey and this is a good alternative for the price tag! My CHi and Sedu didn’t last but 1.5 years maybe but they did straignten very well. I have had this one maybe a year and while its probably not as good for thick hair I think its ok for now until a Chi or Sedu deal comes around. If anyone has a good deal breakdown for a CHi or Sedu then please post I would love to grab one. Thanks!

I’m on the fence whether to buy this or not. I had one CHI for a good 7 years until it quit working. After that I went though 2 more CHIs but the last one lasted about 8 months and just stopped working one day! (Power light would turn on but it would not hear up) From what I hear, CHI’s quality has declined immensely. Ahh to buy this straightener or not?! I have coarse wavy hair.

    • S

Oh wow, I’ve had my CHI for 6 years now and is working perfectly. Thanks for the lower quality information!

I own this iron. I am pretty happy with it – it’s not as good as my GHD ($200), but it is way better than say conair or similar level product. This iron is dual voltage meaning you can use it in most of Europe with only an adapter (no need for a converter) so it’s an excellent choice for travel – I use it for that purpose and it works wonderfully. Enjoy.

I would rather shell out the money and get a Sedu I heard they are amazing. I did love my paul Mitchell did not damage my hair and now my sam villa is amazing for curling my hair and protects it too. Just for those looking for everyday flat irons.

  12. Cass

I have this straightener and love it.

I must have been lucky but I have a CHI that is 10 years old and still turns on. After 3 years though, I dropped it on a ceramic tile floor and one of the plates came off and is dangling by a wire. I held on to it because someone told me that there is a place that repairs them for $25. I just never sent it. The one I bought to replace that lasted 7 years. It only quit turning on after I recently started taking it back and forth from home to work with me.

I think the key to making them last is not to wrap up the cord around the straightener.

I bought another CHI when I needed a new one because nothing has worked as well for my extremely thick, curly, prone to frizz hair, and I was quite impressed with how long mine lasted…
