Is it just me, or were the school deals so much better at these stores last year? I remember stocking up on 25 cent crayons and 1 cent pencil holders for donation.

    Thanks for posting!

    • Kelly

Definitely a lot better last year!

    • Pam

yeah, horrible this year. Looks like they tried something different this year.

    • Carol_R

Not as good as last year. Financially I believe that Staples is struggling.

  2. cyndi

Do they have the ad in store to pick up? This one never comes in my sunday paper.

    • Karen

I wasn’t getting it either and got it last week finally.

    • Carol_R

They should have it in the store.

      • Carm

My store usually doesn’t and I don’t get it in the paper either. There’s a mobile version of it that I use in store.

  3. Courtney

If I pay for a rebate item with a gift card, will I still get the rebate money back?

    • Heather C

Yes, they don’t care how you pay!

      • Courtney

        Thank you!!

  4. Cindy

Did I miss the penny backpacks after rebate this year or were there not any?

    • Amy Stotts

If there were penny backpacks this year, I certainly missed it too. I was really counting on that and hoping for another great deal on 5 star zipper binders like Rite Aid’s last year. This year has been a real drain on the pocket book!

  5. Karen

So glad i have enough in my stockpile from last year for most of my 3 kids lists! Maybe next year deals will be better.

    • Amy Stotts

I ended up with a lot of leftover school supplies too, but my son asked if he could give them to a couple of kids that didn’t have much. I couldn’t say no, but now, I’m having to pay the steeper prices. Hopefully, these stores bought too much, though, thinking we’d be buying as much as we did in the past years—I’m praying for clearance finds!

  6. Erin

I thought the same. I feel with Office Depot and Office Max becoming one company the need for competing for a buyer has lessen, thus giving us mediocre deals. I was able to get so much free reams of paper that I still have packs leftover. I have yet to get a free one.

  7. Anja

There is a Staples coupon on their website, making the Hamermill paper free after rebate. They did the same thing last week, so this will be my 2nd free pack of paper. Yes, the deals were way better last year :(, I totally agree!

    • visitor3

Ooh, we can do the free ream of paper again? I did it last week and was afraid it’s a repeat now.

  8. Jodi

There is also a 1/1 expo coupon in 08/17 ss 🙂

  9. candy

Does Staples allow you to stack their coupons with manufacturer coupons? I have a coupon for $1 odd any sharpie product from the weekly red plum insert.

    • Sarah Empey

My question exactly– is stacking allowed at Staples?

      • Christina

Was able to stack coupons there today on Papermate, Sharpie, Mr. Sketch. They even let me use the 20% coupon with the in ad $1 coupons for those products!

  10. Danielle

Colin are we not getting any penny deals at any of the stores? I’m a teacher and I wait for the folders etc on penny deal. Not sure if I should wait.
