If you’re an Amazon Mom member, you may have received an email with the subject line Changes to Your Amazon Mom Benefits from store-news@amazon.com with a couple upcoming changes (listed below) that will take place starting November 11th, 2014.

However, if you received this email, you should see a note at the bottom of the email stating that they will issue you a $30 credit to use towards an existing or new Subscribe & Save subscription! 🙂 Awesome! Keep in mind that Amazon will provide you with information on how to access this credit in a separate email in early November. Come back and let us know if you also received this email!

While the credit is nice, It seems Amazon is getting worse and worse in my opinion. Prime changes, Mom changes, a ton of Add-On only items, and the past handful of orders I have needed to contact customer service and their quality of service seems to have gone down hill. I had to repeat things numerous time and explain things to THEM, and half the time I googled my answer quicker than they could help because they were only aggravating me further. This happened on phone and chat. We have been heavy amazon users for years now and I am quickly getting disappointed.

    • Momof3

I agree. $99 instead of less. They don’t even offer the month to month option. There’s a new Prime Pantry? Ugh! Now when you checkout it offers you like $1 towards a book or music if you’re willing to wait longer on shipping. Ugh! Not happy. Not to mention I have gotten a neighbor’s package and she has gotten mine. When I complained, they make me sign for each and every package. I get punished for their mistakes. Not happy. I’m trying to eBay more now and see if that works for me.

  2. Dani

That’s really unfortunate… The credit is nice but I won’t be likely to Renew my prime/mom subscription that I have had for years. I agree with Jen… Too many changes for the worse.

  3. Tharen

I only got a $15 credit. I dont use Amazong Mom too much so i wonder if it depends on past purchases.

  4. Amie

I heard about this change and that people were receiving the $30 credit. I have not received one. I can never figure out how they decide who gets their special offers. I don’t think it’s fair to offer it to some people and not others!

    • Jen

Have you at least gotten this email? it does say the $30 won’t be given out til early Nov so you still might get it.

      • Amie

        I haven’t gotten the e-mail at all.

        • Juli

Mine went to my SPAM folder. Have you checked that?

          • Amie

Yep, no emails from Amazon at all except confirming anything I add to S & S

  5. Catherine

I’ll take the $30! I have the email, but I typically don’t read Amazon emails because they send so MANY. Maybe Colin can remind us in November? 🙂

  6. Angela

Yeah I am annoyed with this too. They are changing the five plus monthly subscriptions benefit from 20 percent to only 15 percent off. That benefit was the main reason I even renewed prime. Ugh.

  7. Chelsey

I was just thinking of signing up. Should I not now?

    • Kristen

Still worth it in my opinion.. Especially if you are a fan of the TV shows/ movies on prime.. I suppose if we didn’t watch TV through prime (we don’t have cable) we might not be okay with the price..

  8. Jamie Gramley

I got the same email with the promise of a $30 credit……will be nice but disappointing about the 15% rather than 20%

  9. Ang

I am super annoyed with this. Yes, I will get $30, BUT one of the the changes they are making is changing the discount from 20% to 15% for 5 plus S & S items each month. I get most of our household stuff using that benefit (which will amount to way over $30 in a year) and it’s the reason I renewed prime recently. 🙁

  10. Catherine

Off topic, but while I was digging through my Amazon folder I found a $10 credit from Rare Patient Voice from my application about 10 days ago. It got filtered into the Amazon folder because Amazon is in the subject line.

    • J

Thank you for the reminder to check! I got it too:)

    • Susi

      I got it also!!

  11. Mourrene

I got the email too. I prefer the 20% discount because it really adds up. It’ll be interesting to see if I can get any really good deals going forward for S&S. The main item I wanted has been discontinued. If these changes continue, I could be cancelling my Prime membership when the time comes.

  12. Lynn

I too received amazon email last week and I’m with everyone…..not happy. Yes, they did say a 30.00 credit would be applied in November, but they also increased prime to 99.00 from 79.00. Guess after November no more subscribe and save for me and will cancel my prime.

They are going downhill fast IMHO.

  13. Dirt

If you have 5 items it doesn’t change. There are a ton of things you can add on for $2-3. Why is everyone complaining? Amazon is great and is usually the cheapest price anywhere.

    • Jen

The 5 item number does not change, but rather than saving 20%, we now will only save 15% so there is a difference. And, I used to think they had the best prices, but now I am not too sure anymore. For example, when we had our first baby 2 years ago, they beat near everyone for near everything we needed. This time around as I am having another in a few months, other places are cheaper 50-75% of the time.

      • Lolita

I know!!! They got me hooked on the convenience (and back when I did the research the prices were much better) and now there are some things that are still better others that are much worse than buying at other places. And before we mention gas costs, if you are at the store anyways and not making a special trip, you may save money buying items there instead of on Amazon. I used to NOT buy things at the store that I needed soon because I had ordered them from Amazon at a better price… now when I compare I see the difference has changed. I think that was a marketing strategy… put out deals etc to get everyone used to Amazon being the cheaper, easier one… and then let prices go up as needed. (there are still things that are cheaper, though)

        • Jen

Agree with you! My husband is still in the Amazon is more convenient and easy mentality lol. I now see the benefit of going back to shopping around. However, we have a high sales tax state so sometimes for us, even though the Amazon dollar amount may be more, they are still cheaper/equal after figuring so much tax (Amazon still does not charge tax for our state, though they are trying lol).

    • Lolita

It does change… instead of getting 20% off you get 15% off… that is a 5% increase which adds up fast if you purchase a lot on there (like I do).

    • Cindi

There’s more to it than that – first a prime membership increase, then a lower discount for s&s, and if you shop there a lot I’m sure you noticed TONS of things got switched to add-on only so the prime shipping has become less useful. Not awesome customer service to roll out all these changes at once after they’ve enticed everyone in with the prior benefits.

      • Lolita

Yes, and the add-on issue happened right after I had signed up… I was so mad that time.

    • Momof3

Also add that they have started charging tax. I’m in Florida and never paid tax for Amazon shipments. It’s really adding up.

  14. Melissa

My e-mail said I’m getting a $15 credit. I have several items shipped monthly, including diapers for 2 kids. Makes me wonder why others are getting $30. It’s disappointing but with the amount of purchases we make every year trough amazon, the prime membership pays for itself in what would be shipping costs.

  15. Lolita

That is lame…. The $30 will be eaten up fast in the 5% increase in prices in all the items I order in Subscribe and save…. When I paid $99 (up from $79) to renew I was counting on the 20% discount. How is it ok for them to charge us for one benefits package and change it to another thing after we already paid?
First the ‘add on’ changes, which ruined a lot of my Amazon deals, next the increase in price, and now this?…..

    • Lolita

I just found my email, it does say this:

Amazon Mom is free for Prime Members. Benefits that will continue include:
      20% off diapers subscriptions
Save 20% on recurring deliveries of diapers through Subscribe & Save. Subscribing saves money and you can cancel anytime. See eligible diapers

At least the diaper discount will stay, that is good.

      • Lolita

I have a feeling this is because so many non-parents signed up to get the extra discount….

        • Lucy

So just to clarify, the diaper discount stays? I was under the impression it went too.

          • Lolita

According to my email diaper discount stays, wipes discount goes.

    • Jen

We have been long time Prime and Mom members so I cannot remember– but isn’t Mom a “free” perk you can sign up for if you have Prime? Therefore you are not technically paying for Mom, so I would guess they can do whatever they want with benefits.

      • Lolita

My Prime had expired. I went to use my mom discount and it said that if I wanted to use it I had to renew my prime/ pay the $99. So yes, they did tell me that I had to pay to use the Mom discount. It was part of what convinced me to pay for Prime. I know what you are saying, that there is not an extra charge for the Mom membership, but you cannot get all the benefits without paying for Prime, and they marketed it that way to me (get all the mom benefits by signing up with Prime).

        • Jen

Oh ok… we had Prime before we signed up for Mom, so we had already paid prior.

  16. anna

The Underjams I’ve been getting on subscribe and save with Amazon Mom for a long time have just been yanked as a subscribe and save item. I tried switching to Goodnites instead but I got an email a week later taking them off subscription as well. I guess this is one way around giving me the credit. I’m annoyed I’m going to have to remember to buy these when we need them now.

    • Catherine

Oh no! This is just about the only thing I order with the Amazon Mom. The prices on Goodnights and Underjams were significantly cheaper through Amazon. Darn it, darn it, darn it.

    • Lolita

I used to love the Charmin deals they had… I have to buy them in store now.

    • Amie

I was really upset that they removed the Underjams too! Right now they have a coupon so just buying them from Amazon with the coupon is cheaper then getting them in the store but not as not as good of a deal as they would have been if they were S & S items!

  17. Amberly

    I am a member but didn’t get the email…hmm.

  18. Em

For any Minnesota readers who may not already know this, starting October 1st, which is Wednesday, you will start getting charged sales tax on Amazon as well. If you have things in your cart, order today or tomorrow if you don’t want to pay sales tax.

    • rachel

We recently began paying sales tax on amazon purchases in Wisconsin too, as they are building a distribution center here. Another reason to shop around…

  19. Dawn

I did not receive an email and I’ve been a member for over 3 years now…..

  20. Jean

I am a member who was offered $15 rather than $30 too. I am also pretty disappointed with Amazon’s continual changes to their program. Oh well.

  21. Amie

With so many items being pulled from the subscribe and save program, the addition of add on only items, and now the Amazon Market Pantry program, I really believe that they are going to slowly start getting rid of the Subscribe and Save program. I will be really upset if they do, I save so much money every month with my orders!

  22. Savannah

I have an Amazon Mom membership but I don’t use the subscribe and save. What are the best deals that you subscribe to? I guess I figure I don’t need the same things shipped to me every month when I already have built up a stockpile. Any advice is appreciated!

    • Amie

The thing that’s been great about Subscribe & Save is that you don’t have to have it come every month. You can choose to have it delivered anywhere from every month to every 6 months and you can cancel if you want after your first delivery which is what I did. When my son was in diapers I would find a great deal on one brand one month. Then after I received it I would cancel the subscription and go look for another great deal to add to the next months order. I get all my shampoo, body wash, razors, diapers, wipes, and sometimes snacks for my kids through Subscribe and Save because I can get them for cheaper then in the store. Plus I don’t have to pay for the gas to go to the store or take 2 little kids with me. Everything just shows up on my door step! 🙂

      • Savannah

Thanks Amie, I have done a few deals that Collin has posted about (diapers/wipes) but it is a one time purchase and then I cancel the subscription. I guess I don’t see how I can earn 15% off or even 20% off when I never have more than one item that I subscribe to once.

        • Momof3

Be careful. I got caught up in the 5 item game and would end up grabbing stuff just to reach the percent off. It may sometimes be a better option to go to the store than buying something you normally wouldnt.

        • Amie

I just look for deals on things that I would buy at the store anyway and as long as I find something cheaper I buy it. With coupons I have even gotten things for free and they still count towards the 5. You can go to slick deals and do a search for Subscribe & Save and all the best things pop up. For example my order that just came this month included a 2 pack of razors (totally 20 razors) for $4, a case of wipes for $7, hair store thing serum for $1.50, a 3 pack of men’s body was for $5, a 6 pack of Keebler sandwich crackers with 8 individual packages of crackers in them for $7, and a case of seventh generation dish soap (6 bottles of soap) for $8.the soap sells for $2.99 a bottle each at Target. Plus you have a whole month to come up with 5 items, I’ve never found it hard to do!

  23. Ashley

I’ve been a member for 3 years and no email. 🙁

  24. Dee

My email said $15 credit not $30 I rarely use it maybe that’s why its a lower amount?

    • karen

Darn. . .mine was only $15 too. And the Goodnights aren’t available now either. 🙁

  25. teri

I got the email as well with the $30 credit. I do a lot of s&s every month mostly on items that have coupons. By stacking I really save money (and time and gas) on things like deodorant, hair care, snacks, toothpaste, toilet paper, wipes, toothbrushes, tissue, sandwich bags, razors, sunscreen, detergent, vitamins, batteries, feminine products, etc. I cancel right after the items ship bc without thecoupons it’s too expensive. Diapers I get rarely. Wipes occasionally. Bummed with the changes but we’ll see if i will be able to still afford the things I get now.

  26. Amanda

I know this is off-topic but there are a lot of parents commenting on this post my son just turned eight months old and he’s eating stage two and stage three baby food. Is now a time when I can start transitioning him from baby food to regular food??

What are some foods that you can start giving him first I’ve given him small pieces of banana and Gerber puffs snacks?

    Thanks in advance

    • Jen

I would say you are better off checking sites like thebump.com forums or babycenter.com. But, at 8-9 months I started regular foods. We started off with banana, avocado, and sweet potato. Then progressed to any fruits and vegetables that I could cook/steam and cut into pieces. I invested in a baby food maker with a steam and blend capability (NUK FreshFoods maker but I don’t recommend it because i had to replace it twice). I used both functions between 6-8 months (i made 95% of her baby food) and then just the steam portion after that. She is 15 months now and I still steam some foods in it for her. Some people feed their babies meat at this age but my daughter didn’t get teeth until 9 months so I did rely on baby food jar meat for a while. She actually liked it.

      • Jen

Oh and one “rule of thumb” i have heard is that if you try solid foods and they don’t gag or tongue reflex it back out (meaning like they seem to know what to do with it in their mouth), then that is a good sign of readiness.

        • Amanda

          Thank you!

  27. Jessica

If there is anyone who has a Domino’s coupon/gift card that they will not be using, I would really appreciate it. It expires tomorrow. My email is jessicahribal@hotmail.com
    Thank you in advance.

  28. Dayna

I have to agree that I’m pretty bummed about this as well. Prime was raised from $79 to $99. Sadly, our DSL (which is our only option where we live aside from satellite internet, which is just like dial up, imo) does not play videos/movies well so the benefit of watching movies/videos is useless to our household. The addition of Prime Pantry was a bummer because I *already* pay to have my items delivered to me in my Prime Membership fee, so paying another $5.99 feels like Amazon is being greedy. I really enjoy my S&S items, but so many are being cancelled or moved over to Prime Pantry.

What I really wish they would do is honor the 20% discount on whatever you have on S&S if you are an Amazon Mom member. It seems like a couple of years ago something changed with S&S & they did this. I clearly remember going to cancel a subscription & instead of the normal prompt I got some type of warning about if I cancelled & attempted to resubscribe I would not get the original % off discount that I had.

  29. Carmen

I was already on the fence about renewing my membership in October. This made the decision for me. Definitely not renewing. $99 membership fee, sales tax, and only 15% savings instead of 20% — not worth it for me anymore. I’m going to have to get back into couponing more.

  30. Janet

What makes this situation worse, for people that don’t remember, is that Amazon Mom used to offer 30% off, before lowering it down to 20% and now 15%!!! At this point, I’m realizing that Target is competing with their own Subscribe & Save program and many of the items that I need for my daughter are cheaper thru them. It seems I will not be renewing my Prime membership, unless some other benefit is given to outway the raised cost of that as well.

  31. inkydinky

    credit ever appear? mine didnt.

  32. Jody

    Has anyone gotten the credit??

  33. GMJ

    I haven’t received the credit either… anyone?

  34. Jeannie

I haven’t noticed a credit, yet. I was afraid I accidentally deleted an email.

  35. Jody

I never received the actual email about the credit. I went into a chat session with Amazon this morning and asked why I wasn’t considered a ‘valued customer’ chosen to receive the $30 credit as I use S&S A LOT. They gave me a one time credit of $30 which could be applied to any order. I ordered something right away and used the credit. So if you received the email I would definitely get into chat with them about it.

  36. inkydinky

glad that worked for you Jody. i got a run around saying theyre forwarding my concern to the marketing promo department and i would hear back in 24 hours, been 3 days and nothing. waiting till i have a free hour to get on the phone. (customer service always frustrates me so i have to have patience and be in a good mood)

  37. Kan

I just received an email about the $30 credit this morning. The subject line was, “Claim Your Subscribe & Save Credit from Amazon Mom.” It had a claim code and a link at which to enter it so the credit could be applied to my account. Hooray!

  38. Jody

for those that received the initial email about a S&S credit due to the change in the Amazon Mom program – check your emails!
Info has gone out concerning a credit to a S&S order to be used by
May. It sounds like the credit is applied to ONE NEW S&S ORDER then
is used month by month on that ONE ORDER until used in full or expired –
whichever comes first. So be sure to order a higher priced item to
ensure you will use up the credit – maybe Paper Towels or Toilet Paper,
    etc.

  39. Glenda

I signed up today and i saw this.. I wanted to know, would i get the 30$ if I’m a new amazonmom customer? or it only applies to old customers?
