There are plenty of good free Anti virus programs from the PC, and it is a falsehood that Macs can’t get a virus. Hackers generally ignore macs because of the lower percentage of people that use them, but if that number grows the number of viruses will grow as well.
You keep telling yourself that , John. That’s what the PC lovers have been saying for 10+ years. We are all Apple, all the time here. Memories of all the trouble with PCs makes me shudder.

I had a Mac desktop that I bought in 2001 and although it was still running strong a couple of years ago, I couldn’t go online with it because it needed updates I wasn’t willing to buy. I bought a Mac Mini instead and this will probably last me close to 10 years again. I’ve been a Mac baby since inception. I’ve used PCs because of work but it’s like slipping into a warm bath when I get back to my Mac, lol. 🙂

On Thanksgiving, I purchased the Mac 15″ with retina display online from Best Buy. It was $300 off!! I am on it right now and am LOVING it!! I was overdue for a new computer. I’ve had my Dell laptop for about 7-8 years, so it was definitely time. Merry Christmas to me! :)))

Our trusty old (circa 2007) Dell Inspiron laptop was finally giving us the “almost time for a new battery” message and can’t upgrade to latest ie so decided to try the 13″ MacBook w/BB BF deal for Christmas. I did a complete fresh install on the Dell this week and we’re giving it to a friend who doesn’t have a computer and she’s SO happy to now be able to be able to email family and print photos from home now. I would take your coupon into the store and request they go ahead and honor it…cannot hurt and they may just do it…
If you homeschool, you can also get the student discount. You just need to show your registered homeschool ID which you can usually print through your state’s homeschool website. 🙂
Actually, I want to clarify. I was able to use that discount at the Apple Store but I’m not sure how it works at Best Buy. It is definitely worth trying though since it’s an additional discount. 🙂
To clarify, I am referring to a previous deal posted here and another deals website I frequent. We were able to get this machine for around $690 with a $200 student discount and the 10% movers coupon stacked. This was a very hot deal and is no longer available. They may do another one next fall, but I am not sure. We have been Mac users for a while and were ready to get rid of our old MacBook Pros, which were still in good shape but we just wanted something newer and faster. For what it’s worth, my 2010 base model MacBook Pro is much faster than my sister’s brand new $800 Windows PC. 🙂

If you have a .edu email address, you can sign up for Best Buy’s student discounts which sends you coupons for various products, one of which is on Apple laptops. Got my college son a Macbook Pro this way and the coupon was for an extra $100 off! Definitely look for a coupon if you have a .edu email!
