DIY Gift Card Snow Globes
If you’re looking for a creative way to give gift cards this year, try making these easy DIY gift card snow globes! What a fun and festive presentation! You can also ditch the gift card and make a few of these for yourself to add to your holiday décor.
For this craft, you’ll need:
- Wide Mouth Glass Jars
- Hot Glue & Glue Gun
- Miniature bottle brush trees (sold with the winter village or mini train supplies in craft stores)
- Faux Snow & Cotton
- Small Binder Clips
- Miniature Holiday Related Figures, Ornaments, Matchbox Cars etc.
- Ribbon and or Bells to embellish jars if desired
Directions:
- To make the snow globe pictured above, start by gluing a binder clip with gift card to the bottom of a jar (make sure you choose jars wide enough to fit gift card).
- Place a small amount of cotton and faux snow to hide the bottom of the binder clip.
- I tied a mini bottle brush tree to one of my son’s cars and placed it on top of snow.
- Close jar and tie with ribbon or bakers twine to embellish.
I made a few more jars using small ornaments. The mini tricycle in the center jar above is from Michaels Craft Store found in the dollhouse supply aisle (the nutcracker ornament is also from Michaels and was found in the $1.50 bins by the checkout).
You can also create a winter scene by placing the jar on its side – I glued a vintage snowman ornament I already had and used another mini 2-inch bottle tree brush inside the jar on the right. These jars will be my teacher gifts this year, and I’m on the hunt looking for a small toy school bus to create one for our bus driver!
Such a cute idea!
These are so cute! Thank you for the inspiration…my favorite is the tree on the car 🙂
Thanks and me too!
Ahhh, mine too!
Me three!
Yar is amasing
Oh! this is so cute! I wished I think about this before buying the stuff for my kids teachers. I go hunt for this little items at the end of the season so I can make it for next year. lol 🙂
Oh thanks and yes great idea to watch out for fun items to make these!
You are amazing!
Ha thanks Beth!
Love this idea! Wish I had time to do it this year, but will bookmark for next year!
Will keep an eye out for items to do these for next year! This year I did small mason jars with gift cards surrounded by Hershey kisses. I used a Xmas themed cupcake liner over the top, screwed on the ring and then put a ribbon around that with a “Merry Kissmas” tag on it. I did those for our paper delivery person, our mail carrier and all of my son’s daycare teachers/bus drivers. You gotta love Pinterest for ideas!
Oh how cute!!! I’m going to remember this for next year.
Crazy adorable!! I’m going to do this next year too!
these are adorable I just am not very crafty LOL yet they look easy?!
This is a great idea. I saw generic glass “mason” jars with lids(2 different sizes/a small and a medium) at the Dollar store today and Oriental Trading sells plastic jars with lids if glass is an issue(2 different sizes/a small and a medium) and a small sized plastic snow globe looking container. Just check your size vs. the gift card size.
Good idea!
I was just googling this idea on pinterest last night!
These are adorable!
Super cute idea! Thanks for sharing!
I knew there was a reason why i saved the vlasic farmers garden pickle jar. Thank you Lina

Love this idea! Maybe next year I’ll aim to be more crafty.
Target has a few “mini” gift cards that work for those jars that are smaller (they are smaller than a normal sized gift card). We ordered the Target Hex Pup and Pez Target gift cards and the dimensions on the card are about 1/2 the size.
Oh great idea!
I’m having the hardest time finding jars that fit a gift card in them. Does anyone know the brand and oz of the jars she’s used in the pics?
Adorable and creative, I love this idea!!
I love this idea, it is such a cute and creative way to dress up a gift card. It’s so hard, especially for older teens and adults, to find gifts that work. This way, you can feel like you are giving more than just a gift card, while not spending too much more. Plus, think of it as a Christmas decoration for them for next year too!
I tried it and love it!!!!! But mine has water in it instead
Absolutely adorable snow globe gift card jars! I love the idea of blessing bags, especially because I have so many unused travel sized products that just keep piling up, which I paid nothing. Thank u so much!
Thanks so much!!
How do we glue the binder clip to the bottom??
Hot glue works. Glue the flat end of clip to inside of jar.
Thank you so much for your inspiration, this is darling.
Thanks so much! 😍
