Edible Easter Baskets
Supplies Needed
- Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
- 4 Candy Boxes
- Cardboard for the bottom of basket
- Scissors
- Craft foam for handle (or use Nerds Candy Ropes!)
- Ribbon for embellishments if desired
Directions:
- Use a hot glue gun to glue the corners of candy boxes together.
- Cut a piece of cardboard to fit the bottom and hot glue that to secure bottom.
- Cut a long piece of craft foam about 1.5 inches wide by 16 inches long (or use a Nerds Candy Rope). Glue to the inside of the boxes.
- Make sure to use a good amount of glue so when it dries you’ll be able to use handle. Embellish further with ribbon if desired or even a hair bow.
- Fill with faux grass and Easter goodies. 🙂
This is such an easy and adorable craft!
If you’d prefer crackers or other snack foods, try looking for similar shaped boxes! It can also be used as a small gift basket idea for other occasions and holidays. How cute would the candy basket be to present a movie gift card? Or possibly a teacher end of the year gift? If you have any other ideas, leave them in the comments. 🙂

These are the cutest! I can not wait to make them with the kids.
I made 4 of these. So darn cute!!!!
What a creative idea. I would love to make for nieces and nephews.
I made this 2 weeks ago
cute! cute!
Too adorable, Grandkids will love these.
Sooooo cute. I thought I’d use a headband for handle. Wearable & eatable!
That’s what I was thinking. And that’s what I actually thought the handle was in the photo! 🙂
How would you do the headband so that it stays on without ruining it? Would you still hot glue gun it on?
I would use double stick tape on the bottom and sides so as to not damage the headband.
What about Comand strips
Super cute! Thanks for the great idea
I’m excited to make for nieces and nephews
So creative!! I love it!
These are great. You could use them to “egg” your neighbor.
Yes! Love that idea 👍
Very very cute! And easy too! 🙂 Thanks for the idea.

Used thank you for sharing! 🙂
So cute
Cute enough, but not really practical since not much can fit in the basket, but that us just me; I am a very practical gal!
I was thinking the same. I like to fill my baskets full.
I made four of these…you can put a lot more in it then you think. Mine our full 🙂
Cute idea for teenagers who have outgrown their little kid Easter pails! Lol
Exactly what I was thinking! I was collecting things for my teen and realized he have almost nothing compared to his baby sister. I have ear buds and am getting a basketball pump – other than that I’m out of ideas.
Lina, Colin….can you repost the Easter toy list that was broken down by age groups?!
I have teenagers too! How about some AXE body spray, body wash, and deodorant in the basket? My son loves their products and he actually uses them (thankfully)! 😉
Also razors, bath poofs, hair products, toothbrush & toothpaste. My teenagers always knew to expect replacements and “splurge” versions of personal care items in their Christmas stockings & Easter baskets. For teen girls: nail polish & makeup items, too.
You could do an iTunes gift card to go with ear buds. Maybe a phone case, tanks or t-shirts, and of course candy. Good luck!
You can put movie tickets in a teens basket or a season pass to a theme park.
Wow those are all great ideas! Thanks! I really didn’t want to just get him candy.
Love this idea!
Super cute!!!
What a great idea – thank you! I always try to find a ‘basket/tin’ that my niece & nephew can use for storage, but they will LOVE this!
Great idea for older kids
the boxes of candy can also be wrapped with colorful wrapping paper, if you want to use differnt kinds but symmetry is an issue.
This is the cutest idea, Lina! Thanks for sharing. I’ll be sending baskets to 2 grown children; this shape should be super packable and so personalizable. 🙂
I’ve always tried to steer clear of tons of junk (candy & otherwise) in Easter baskets. What I love about this idea for older kids is that:
a) it can be filled with meaningful non-candy items (either practical or indulgent, or some combination of the two);
b) it looks absolutely adorable, regardless of what is in it, and it seems that the visual enjoyment of something like this is so much greater than just the enjoyment of eating candy; and
c) after the holiday it can be disassembled and the pieces put away or shared for intentional & pre-portioned enjoyment in the future. No loose candies to be eaten absent-mindedly, either by them or me. 🙂
Love it. 🙂
If you find the rope nerd candy, that would work for a great handle instead, then it is all edible! Even the jump rope gum would work as well!
My Walgreens has the Nerd Rope Candy in the regular candy aisle all the time. At Valentine’s Day they had a special Nerd Rope that was red, pink and white in with the Valentine candy. Might want to check regular candy aisle and holiday candy, too.
A cute elf on the shelf gift to start the season kids favorite candy filled with an ornament and small toys
I made these using clear packing tape instead of hot glue and they turned out great! I actually used one of the boxes of the candy for my bottom, too! Walgreens and Walmart have the “movie theater” size boxes for under a buck! Super cute and with using the nerds rope, about $6 of candy!
Awesome ideas – thanks April!
