I’m so sick of some Targets. I use the store checker and it’s pretty accurate. I do know that when it’s checked out the checker updates immediately to reflect that as well. I also know that misplaced items, stashed items in store by a person, or in the back by staff is very common, but…
When it says there are “5” in stock, and yesterday there were “6” in stock, and all 6 were in the clearance section, and today when I went early, they were ALL gone yet still showing “5”. I know for a fact that they didn’t leave the store, they are still in there somewhere.
This happened last week when a BIG (as in large item that weighs about 50 lbs) was on clearance and a cartwheel arrived for 1 day only. Guess what? I had been following that item every day at the store, and on the very day the cartwheel went up, they vanished from the shelves. When the cartwheel expired, they were all back on the shelf the next day.
So if you weren’t able to score this deal, and the inventory shows they are in stock, well they probably are hidden somewhere in the back or by someone.
Target stores can’t keep getting away with the misplaced items crap when they are being removed when a clearance + cartwheel goes live on a big ticket item and they pop back on the shelves when the cartwheel expires.
You can’t tell me it’s the staff stashing items to purchase when they appear back on the shelves too. It’s a lame strategy and sadly it’s getting common between many stores.
I’ve documented such practices by checking stock on close time and open time a couple of times in the past and items are vanishing on the first 10 minutes the store opens. We’re talking sometimes 5-10 items on crazy deals just vanishing from closure to open.
So lame. Glad for you guys that have a store that doesn’t practice this “at a loss” preventative stashing trick. Wish the 5 stores nearest to me were fair 🙁

Just to update, they were back on the shelves the next day. 4 of them. I am going to start documenting evidence and showing that it’s happening on multiple items during stackable deals and appearing back on shelf the day after, then complaining directly to corporate. Manager needs to get fired at one of my stores since she is probably aware of this practice. I doubt the lower staff is goign to do specific things like that unless ordered to hide in back then restock after a stack is over.
Same thing happened to me today! It said “in stock” online so I went to the store and was told they were all sold out. They said it could take a while for the status to reflect online with their system or something like that. I went home and checked the stock status online again, and it still says “in stock”… So disappointing. 🙁

My target had them for $99, I used the cartwheel and 25% coupon- got the band ( I needed a small but they only had medium) and the screen protector for $32.

No the sales girl at target is the one who suggested I use the other coupon on top of the cartwheel. She gave me the number to text to get it since I didn’t have it.

My target had them for $100. I was disappointed but the person in electronics was so nice. He got on the Internet and found them on Target.com for $60 so he price matched that for me. I then used the Cartwheel and got it for $30. (And then used my red card for another 5%) I don’t know who will get it for Christmas but someone will be happy.
I got the last 2 at my target; $100. Great gifts for my boys at a great price!
