Also the 7″ fire tablet is $34.99 now….

    • Sarah

Yes!!! I’ve been waiting and looking for that to go down. Just checked it too. Yay! Another item off the list.

    • MJ

Where? I have been waiting and watching Best Buy….

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know, Andi!

    • Holly

Thank you! I was patiently waiting for Best Buy to roll out theirs. My girls have kindles but could use an upgrade and at this price how can you resist!

  2. Alexa

Does anyone own one of these stick? Is it a good product?

    • Kelly

We have the Fire Stick and Fire TV (older version) and I love them both! I haven’t had any issues with it yet and it streams everything wonderfully.

      • april

can u download kodi 2 it?

        • Kelly

I have not personally installed Kodi, but there are videos on Youtube that show how to install it to the Fire Stick, so it should work!

        • rxxxxxe

Yes, you can download kodi to it. You have to sideload it, though. There’s lots of tutorials out there on sideloading apps, it’s pretty easy. Kodi won’t show up in the main apps screen (unless you root), and you’ll have to get to it by going through your settings menu, however there is an app for android (not sure about ios) that you can get that will automatically launch it on your fire tv. That’s what I do.
By the way, I LOVE my fire tv. I prefer it over roku/apple tv. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

          • april

            Thank u!!!

          • Sergio

Any buffering issues? Seems that I can’t watch anything on kodi without constantly buffering. So much I stopped using Kodi

            • rxxxxxe

Occasionally I have an issue with buffering, but that’s rare. One thing that I do is I pause the movie when I first open it for 5ish minutes to let it buffer/load whatever, but I’ll just take the dog out or make popcorn or something and by the time I come back it’s fine and I have no problems.

        • Sergio

I have 3 Fire sticks with kodi and they were great when first introduced. Kodi has gotten so popular that the streams constantly buffer now and are hard to watch. Just fyi

      • avi

I need the tv for this to work?

        • Kelly

No, you do not need the Fire TV for the stick to work. I have the box in my room and the stick out in the front room. I just really like trying out Amazon’s different products. 🙂 HTH

        • Kelly

Nope, just any tv with an HDMI port and the Fire Stick. I just enjoy trying out different products. 🙂

    • Ashley

I have a roku and a fire stick. I find the roku to be easier to navigate, but that might be just because I had it first. The Fire stick works great though! If you’re interested I’d definitely grab one at this price, sooo worth it.

    • Tricia H

We have one in our living room and love it!!! I just ordered this one for the bedroom!!

  3. cee

Will it work for any TV or amazon TV

    • Kelly

It will work for any tv as long as there is an HDMI port.

  4. Jallce

    I paid 24.99 for a kindle fire. I used a $10 credit.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Sweet!

  5. casey

Exactly was does a firestick do are the movies free…I have prime if that helps

    • Kay

I’m wondering the same. Does it basically convert a regular tv to a smart tv?

    • casey

Also do I need the fire box?

      • Ashley

Nope, you just put it in the HDMI port and plug it into an outlet. It’s very easy to set up.

    • Ashley

Since you have Prime, you’ll be able to watch the free Prime shows/movies on your tv (and pay to rent/buy others if you’d like). If you have Netflix, you’ll also be able to use that. You can download other apps on the stick for more (we like PBS, PBS Kids and YouTube, but there are a LOT of choices). Pretty sure you can also play games and other stuff…but we mostly use it for random tv shows.

    • Emily

It adds wi-fi enabled programs to your tv. Instead of having to stream Netflix, Hulu, Prime Movies, etc. through an Xbox, Playstation, Blu-Ray player, etc. you can plug this into the HDMI port on your tv and a power outlet (you can use your tv’s USB port to power it – might need a separate $5 cable to power it through the TV instead of a traditional outlet.) Once plugged into the HDMI port on the TV and a power source, you can use the on-screen menu to connect it to your home’s wi-fi. Then, you can stream movies, tv, music from there. If you have cable or satellite, you’d switch to this the same way you’d switch inputs to watch a DVD – use the tv remote to change which input you want at that moment.

It is nice for people that want Netflix, etc. but don’t have a wi-fi enabled device hooked up to that TV. You can take it with you on vacation too, so you can use the hotel’s wi-fi to stream movies at night. We have a blu-ray in our living room but it will be nice to add this to our bedroom tv and be able to stream from there as well, without having to buy another blu-ray player. (Although Best Buy has a great deal starting really soon on a wi-fi enabled Sony Blu-Ray player. The cousin to the one we already have.)

It is also really neat because it learns what you like and starts streaming them early to help reduce buffering. So if you’re watching a full season of some tv show, the unit will start pulling in the next episode so you don’t have to buffer. I’ve heard good things and I just ordered it for myself.

    • Chris

The moves aren’t free. If you have Amazon prime then it gives you access to prime videos included in your subscription at no extra charge as well as running apps for most services such as Netflix and Hulu.

It’s like a roku, it turns your non smart (or smart too, a lot of those tvs have horrible software) into a smart tv.

  6. Alexa

Where did u get the $10 credit?

  7. Sherri

I just bought the fire stick a few days ago and so far love it. I bought the voice activated one. I actually returned a smart tv and bought a regular tv with a fire stick and love it. I contacted amazon tonight the they adjusted the price so I was able to get this price! I bought the tv and fire stick for my home office for when I am working. I sell on ebay and spend a lot of time in my office. Thank you for posting this. BTW, amazon customer service was great in refunding me the difference in price. So, if any of you purchase anything and then the price drops within 7 days, contact them. They will make good on the price.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh cool! Thanks for your feedback Sherri!

  8. Anna

Do you think the voice command is really worth it?

    • Emily

I thought so. I figured if I knew what I wanted to watch, being able to say it would make me happier than having to sit through and search in the menu or spend forever typing it out using the other buttons on the remote and an on-screen keyboard.

    • Caitlin

Not really in my opinion because it only works to pull up Amazon shows so you can’t say the name of a show say in the Netflix menu and it would come up. You would have to say Netflix and then scroll to find what your looking for still

      • Anna

Thank you both! We are getting this for netflix so that decided it for me thx!

  9. Leann

Do you have to have an espn account to get it or is it free with the stick?

    • SRN

You have to have an account, just like Netflix or any of the others like it.

  10. Carrie

Thank you! I wanted to get the voice remote version as a gift and had been waiting for this deal.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Carrie!

  11. Liz

Is it like a Google Chrome Cast if you have the apps on your phone and just cast them to the tv? That’s what I do now and I’m not sure there is s difference.

  12. Colleen

I LOVE LOVE LOVE our Fire Stick. We have one for the kids’ playroom and it’s great for streaming their shows since we don’t have cable in that room. Just ordered another one for our bedroom.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh cool! Thanks so much for your review!

  13. Erin

We have been wanting to cut our cable for a while now. SlingTV has a promotion right now where you prepay for 3 months at $20/mo and they give you a promo code for $50 off the Fire TV. Reg price is $99.99, on sale for $79.99. So after the promo code it was $24.99, same price as the stick. Not to mention that the 3 months of SlingTV is still less than half the price of ONE month of cable. They also had deals with chromecast and roku if you prefer.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for sharing Erin!

  14. dayna

Got three!! Thanks. 2 for kiddos n one for my parents 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Sweet! You are so welcome!
