Does any one know if this price beats the Black Friday deal that Silhouette America is going to have on this item?

  2. Samantha

I am tempted. I have been wanting one for a while. Any reviews to help me make my decision?? TIA!

    • Wendy

I have the Silhouette Portrait and love it! I’ve used it to make items for an Etsy store but have found that I could really use the larger Cameo. There are tons of tutorials on YouTube. If you watch a few of those, you can see how versatile these machines are. I love to craft and can’t imagine not having this machine in my life. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Anu1c.

I am tempted too. But still undecided between the different machines.

    • Sara

If you’re on the fence I say go for it! I was on the fence when this deal came around last year and didn’t do it. I ended up paying more for it later.

      • Anu1c.

Alright I did it and bought it. Just hope tomorrow it’s not a better deal on the silhouette America site. ๐Ÿ˜„

  3. Anu1c.

Is there Cameo different than the cameo 2?

  4. Nicole

I run a side business with this machine and it is phenomenal. It’s great for creating Christmas gifts and there are a ton of facebook groups that give you ideas and help you with questions you may have. This deal is a GREAT one.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh cool! Thanks for your great review Nicole! I sure do appreciate it!

  5. Tami

It is amazing!!! Get it!!! So much fun and a great deal! You won’t be disappointed

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sweet! Thanks for your feedback Tami!

I have the older version and I love it. The cameo 2 has a touch screen and I believe better rollers? Be sure you buy a designer edition software upgrade for around $25. There are several facebook groups to give you help, ideas and designs. Look into Silhouette School blog too, it’s a must. I’ve only had my silhouette cameo since last Christmas and have already made a lot of stuff.

Now on to the bad stuff, supplies are very expensive. You keep wanting to buy other things – I bought a heat press and sandblaster. You can waste a lot of supplies by the silhouette blade not cutting correctly or user error. Look into Craftvinyl (website) for a cheap price on vinyl. You have to jump through a lot of hoops and the stars have to align to order their deals.

I am SISSYLYNE on instagram if you want to see my projects. I’m still a novice though.

    • Wendy

      Hi Christa,
I checked out you projects on IG. I love the back to school chalk board you made! Also, the personalized etched glass baking dishes are such a nice gift idea!

      • Christa

Thanks! I hope everyone likes the pyrex dishes too. They can’t return it lol.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for the info Christa!

  7. Kelly

Love mine! Cheap gifts, and if you sell a few things you make the machine pays for itself. This is a great price since it includes a bunch of supplies.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for your review Kelly!

I make designs using Photoshop and then cut stencils out to paint pillow covers. This is just one of about a million ๐Ÿ™‚ things you can do with this machine. I haven’t even begun to explore all of the possibilities this machine has.
If you are on Instagram, you can see how I use the machine to create designs on pillow covers. Find me at peekpilloworiginals.
I’m definitely going to get in on this deal today. My Silhoutte Portrait is wonderful but only handles a 8.5″x11″ max cut and I find myself spending a lot of time piecing the stencils together.

    • Anu1c.

Wendy. Those are super cute pillows. How creative.

      • Wendy

Aww, thanks! I’ve had a blast making them. I being creative makes me happy.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That’s really cool! Thanks for sharing!

I have never had one before but my 11 yo daughter loves to do crafts and I am thinking about getting one for her for X-mas. Can anyone tell me what kind of supplies we will need to buy extra to be able to keep using this machine? I assume vinyl sheets, but is there anything else? Do we have to pay extra for the templates or are those free on the internet? Thank you so much! It definitely sounds like a great deal but $180 is still a ton of money for my budget, so I am very hesitant.

    • Tiffany

You for nice designs you tend to have to buy the copyright. But sometimes there are free ones. The website has a free one once a week there are other websites that have free ones daily….. the best part is you can download an image or save an image from the Internet and upload or paste it onto the design platform it comes with and the machine can trace it out and cut it but if you were to sell It might come with copyright issues. So as gifts it’s good but if you want to make money I suggest you buy the designs.

      • Tiffany

Sorry about my terrible grammar! lol I don’t like typing on my phone.

  10. Bri

I have this exact one and I LOVE it. I, too, and a novice. Got this just last Easter. But, have began to learn so much that I have even thought to start my own etsy shop! I love crafting with this machine so much because it makes it so easy! They supply you with the program to install on your computer and off you go! YouTube videos are everywhere to help walk you through the anything you want to do. You don’t need to tech savvy. Supplies can be pricey, but I have learned, don’t go to Joann, or Michaels. Stick to Amazon! Way less expensive! Pinterest can help you create just about any project you want. I have made all decorations for my children’s parties (saved a ton of money!) Friends now come to me for their parties (birthday, showers, even wedding ideas) this machine is so fun! Endless possibilities. The cool thing is you don’t have to purchase images from their library, you can pull them straight from Google. More money saved ๐Ÿ˜‰ You can make your own cards, iron ons, vinyl projects, glass etching, rhinestone art, crafts for kids, gifts for friends and family or even have a Pinterest party! This is a great price and u would snag it up! The Black Friday price may be $20 less if your lucky. Great product and a great price! Happy Thanksgiving everyone ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for such awesome feedback Bri!

I’ve been trying to decide between the Cricuit Explore Air and the silhouette. Does anyone have an opinion on both? Will there be any deals on the new cricut? Thanks!

    • Brittany

Check Walmart on Black Friday. I LOVE my Cricut! Most people that have both like the Cricut better. Watch some Youtube reviews and they will give you the pros and cons. I recommend the Cricut Explore Air or just the Cricut Explore and get the bluetooth adaptor for it.

      • Courtney

Thanks! I watched some comparison videos and the cricut seems easier to use, but at this price I’m super tempted to buy the silhouette!

    • Christa

On my silhouette group people always like the silhouette more, if they have both machines.

  12. Hope

This is a super deal! I have this exact cutter and love it! I wouldn’t worry too much about purchasing any extras if looking to give this as a gift. I received one as a birthday gift this summer and have had tons of fun just practicing cutting paper and things until I got the hang of it. Hope this helps!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for sharing Hope!

  13. Dee

Im still on the fence about getting it ๐Ÿ˜–. But wanted to share that with your Disover card you can get 5% back in rewards and you can try ebates or shop at home too.

  14. Jena

I have started researching between the Cameo and a Cricket. I have read many forums and reviews and many people prefer the silhouette cameo. They say it cuts better, there are more ways to get images and that customer service is better than with the cricket. I think I found my Christmas gift this year!

  15. Lauren

Don’t forget to download the Amazon app for an extra $5 off if you go through a referral link. Here is mine below:

Use my referral link to get a $5 coupon at Amazon for signing into the Amazon App the first time: https://amazon.com/mpr?referralcode=LAURE186N&ref_=mpr_tr_ss

The app is very easy to use and I definitely recommend it if you don’t already have it installed on your phone!

  16. Vivian

I put it on my in-laws’ Christmas wish list and told them about the 1day sale lol ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ™

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Cool! ๐Ÿ˜€

  17. Susanb

How long will this be on sale? We don’t get paid until tomorrow and I’ve wanted one of these for years!!

    • Wendy

Susan, this is a one day sale. It ends at 3 am EST.

  18. Rachael

So bummed it doesn’t work anymore must have ended at midnight ET

  19. Vivian

Sold out as my husband was putting it in his cart…. Riiiight lol
