Christmas Gifts for Men

I received the following email from reader, Kate, asking for ideas on what to buy the men in her life for Christmas. I can totally relate to needing help in this area, so I thought this would be a great question to ask the Hip2Save community. Please share your ideas in the comments. Thanks in advance. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Collin!
Sometimes you post for others to give their feedback. I’d love for you to do a post about gifts for men. The men in my life are just so hard to shop for! I’ve finished shopping for all the women, but I’m stuck on the men. Need ideas for dads, grandpas, uncles, husband, pretty much all of them! PLEASE HELP!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
Thanks, Kate

Contigo travel mug! They’re spill proof, practically indestructible, and keep drinks hot for a long time!

Really love these. It is so hard to find mugs that truly do not leak.

    • DH

I also love the Bubba brand travel mugs. There are very few that are dishwasher safe and actually survive multiple washes, but these do.

    I see there’s 290 comments but I can’t read any of them..

Lingerie. As a customer (buying perfume and edible body powder for his wife) at work once said: “the best gifts for a husband are actually for her in the end, but the unwrapping makes it worth it.”

I bought my dad a heated car seat cushion since his truck doesn’t have heated seats. Free shipping at target now, no minimum.

Amazon gift cards are also good, Visa gift cards, tools, etc. Also car air fresheners, men’s body wash, razors, those “brain puzzles” like the metal rings hooked together and you have to unhook them, bathroom reader books, wireless headphones, funny tees, gift cards to fave lunch spots, AAA membership, model car kits, dvds, Roku

  6. Meghan

The wooden beer crates are neat. They have a bottle opener attached.

  7. becky barnes

    Khakis from Dockers!

I bought a I love you because clip frame from Daysprings that I had a coupon for (from this site). I wrote a reason why I loved my husband for each day of 2016 and bundled them by months. I also included a “fun” challenge or “special” date for us to complete during each month.

Anything Star Wars, Lego, think geek, personal care and this year an ugly team sweater ๐Ÿ™‚

Don’t be knocking the squatty potty! Best money I’ve spent on myself!! No more prescription meds for me!๐Ÿ˜€

Two years ago I got my husband a nice leather bag, last year an Amazon Fire TV stick, but I am stumped this year! He told me I am off the hook for a few years since he loved those so much. Ha!

Making a gift basket with his favorite snacks; a gift card to anything that interests him such as Home Depot, etc.,; something nostalgic such as a game that all family members could play or the character(s) on a mug, t-shirt, etc.; ask them questions and it should give you hints. If he’s a football fan, I say go to Walmart, because they have a ton of unique sports items for the Football teams at least. Or try Amazon for affordable sports teams items.

I saw a youtube vid with a great idea for movie lovers that use Redbox with a code for 1 movie, a popcorn bucket filled with snacks/goodies. She was also going to get drinks to put in the popcorn bucket. She got the large popcorn buckets and small ones at Dollar Tree and she had a ton of gifts for $28.00! She also mentioned putting in a gift card to a pizza place.

Hope it gave you some ideas.

I forgot to add this year my mom got my dad floor mats for his car he needed. If he lives in a place that snows a lot, get him a good window scrapper or something that makes that yucky task easier.

Most men love any neat ‘man gadgets’. Flash lights/LED/Spot light, head lamps, ratchet straps, pocket knives, multi purpose tools, ammunition, Otter box phone case, G shock watch, underwear and socks without holes, beef jerky, car cleaning sets [tire shine, armor all wipes…], Shop Vac, nice travel coffee cup, wallet, belt, clothes, slippers, hats …

    • Shawna

      You are TOTALLY right!!

This made me think of a card i got my dad years ago. It read “People who say you’re hard to shop for…. maybe don’t know where to buy beer.” ๐Ÿ™‚

I ask them what they want. The men in my life are getting as follows: Dad: Jeans. Father-in-law: Books on Fungus (no lie). Brother in law #1: Paintbrushes. Brother in law #2: Thing to spread grass seeds. Brother in law #3: large push broom. I do try to surprise my DH, and this year I got him that Montchevre goat cheese bundle, and he really liked it. Now it is gone and not creating clutter, which he hates. I say just ask. I have gotten nearly everyone in the habit of adding stuff to their Amazon wish list for me (and others use it now too) and I think that is win-win.

  16. Julie Grace Piller

My husband sent me his Amazon wish list and I was able to shop for him and so was his mom! It made it easy, since we both knew he was getting him what he wanted!

  17. Whitney

I am doing DIY gifts as always. I’m making a pillow out of a flannel tshirt I got at the thrift store. I also am making a book clock for a man who loves books! Both are pretty simple! I found the ideas from Pinterest!

    • mistyhar@msn.com

That sounds like a cool gift!

  18. trish

    Fishing license!

  19. Lucy

My husband loves rye whiskey. I printed a list of the best in the US then purchased 3 of them.

Homemade gifts are the best! About 10 years ago I bought 3 wooden picture frames from Michaels for super cheap, painted/added decals to them and put a picture of my brother and I in one, my dad and I in another and my mom and I in the last one as presents. They all loved them and still have them on their dresser or desk.

My coworker is making homemade meat rub for all of the guys in her family and I thought that was pretty neat.

Anything from when they were growing up! My boyfriend is in his early 30’s so I bought him a bunch of star wars and yoda things, rocko’s modern life tv show boxed set, back to the future video game for xbox 360, teenage mutant ninja turtle clothing, full house season 1 (he loves that show)

For the guys who like the drink like the guys in my family: beer bottle opener, nice set of different beer glasses, character ice cube trays, fun beer coozies, craft beer boxed sets ( bought one for my brother that came with 2 beers and 2 pint glasses with the brewery logo on them), shaker, mini liquor bottle sets, nice set of coasters, beer or wine rack etc.

For music lovers: spotify/pandora or sirius radio subscription, band biography books, concert tickets, nice pair of headphones, arm band to hold ipod or phone while theyre working out, etc.

    Hope this helps!

A tshirt from his favorite brewery. Target had some pretty cheap craft beer t shirts as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. Patty

Did a picture blanket for my Dad with my daughters pics. I know he will love it.
Other good idea are hickory farms gift sets.’
Armor-all gift sets. Starbucks gift cards.
Something specific to the hobbys they enjoy.
    Fishing gear etc.
At my house you can never go wrong with an Amazon or bass pro gift card

  23. Jillian

I buy all the men in my family Buck Naked underwear from Duluth and they love it. It’s something they would never spend that much on for themselves but it’s affordable enough to give as a gift.

  24. Sherry

Make a date for dinner, drinks, and spring for concert tickets or a movie.

  25. Bob

I got some old 33 rpm LP’S of Christmas music as a Secret Santa gift. They were very inexpensive at thrift stores, and if the man you’re shopping for is a nostalgia buff, or just appreciates the sound of vinyl, they will love them as much as I do.

  26. Anna

I got my boyfriend a beer brewing kit from Amazon.
