Does this service create inquiries on your report? Any reviews?

    • The Year of Yes

I don’t believe it creates any hard inquiries. If it’s anything like Crediy Karma though, it’s good to realize it is only an estimate and not your official score. 🙂

      • The Year of Yes

        CREDIT…not Crediy lol

    • YG

No. Although the credit score tends to be on the higher side compared to the regular fico score I get for free thru credit card.

      • Katie

Mine was 40 points lower than it really was when I went to get a loan for my car! It must really vary!

Does anyone know if this company has more accurate credit scoring than credit karma?

    • Katie

I have both accounts and they are about the same.

  3. Amber

You are entitled to a FREE credit check from the credit companies once a year. Spread it out between the three companies you can get a check every 4 months.

I was just going to say this!!

    • Mel

You only get a free credit report, not credit score.

      • A

        You get a score too.

These sites are very unreliable!! We were trying to buy a house in May/June and checking our credit scores through these sites and the scores were high enough for a loan and when the loan company ran the actual credit check, our score was nearly 100 points lower than when we checked. Our loan person told us to never rely on those websites!

Darn. Sorry to hear about that. Thanks for your feedback.

Credit Sesame pulls your TransUnion score only. This is not your FICO score, Experian score or any other score, it is just TransUnion. All three of the scores that you pull from the three major credit bureaus will be vastly different, as will your FICO score. Ask what score a lender uses before applying for a loan, that way you can go directly to that credit bureau and pull your report and know your score.

When we were buying s house our lender said they have to with the lowest score.

      • kim l.

Really? I purchased my home im June and they had to use my median score.

        • A

You are right. I was thinking it was the lowest score but hubby corrected me too. It’s median score but if you are doing a joint loan with a spouse they will use whoever’s score is lowest.

    I recommend annualcreditreport.com
No fees. You can get one free credit report from three major bureaus per year. So get one from each but stager out once every 4 months.
This is per onyourmoney.com monitoring your credit report.

I get my credit score too via discover card.
I noticed that my number went down slightly so i went on the site above. Showed me that it was because i opened a jjill credit card. Mafe me feel better.

Just get a Discover card. Your credit score is on every statement, free. It doesn’t cost anything to use it as long as you pay your balance in full every month and they actually pay you with all the cash back offers. It’s easy to make a few hundred dollars each year using Discover Deals and activating the rotating quarterly 5% cash back offers. And, it’s normal for your credit score to not be exactly the same number every month, but it’s usually within 25 points.

    • erin

You have to have good credit for a discover card.

    • Jesse

I’m so glad you posted this! We have a Discover that we rarely use; now I want to go see my credit score for free!

When we were looking for a house a few years ago our loan officer gave us some really good tips to improve our credit. 1) if one spouse has good credit and the other does not, add the one with bad credit to all the good credit person’s credit cards. They will use the credit history from the good credit toward the bad credit. 2) open a fee credit card if you can’t get a non-fee card. For us, we paid $40 per year for hubby to get a card used only for gas and paid off every month. After his credit improved we cancelled it. 3) Open a gas station credit card, use only for gas and pay off every month. A lot of times gas credit cards are less strict about credit. By doing these and a few other small things, my hubby improved his score from 640 to 690 in 9 months. 2 years later his score is now 760.

I agree that these sights are not truly accurate with the scoring. That is because rather than a fico score i believe they use the vantage 3.0. Which is a different scoring system. My husband and i were looking to buy a house by the end of 2015 and were monitoring our scores with both credit karma and credit sesame and were able to detect identity theft on his when 2 different months his score dropped dramatically. If it wasn’t for these free sites we wouldnt have known. There is also credit.com which has a score simulator.
