Would this be a good computer for an 82 year old just learning to use a computer or would I be better off with a tablet of some kind

    • Kate

Honestly, I think it would be a good computer to start on. My dad is in his 70’s, and has trouble with using tablets (he doesn’t like the touchscreen feature), and is much more comfortable using the keyboard and mouse pad on a laptop. It’s not a super expensive computer – but it’s nice enough where it won’t give you a lot of lag or trouble.

we got one before christmas and its one of the things that I regret buying it we have a lot of issues with the wi fi πŸ™

      • Babzko

Same here. I bought the one from, I think black friday deal, and the wi fi pretty much doesn’t work- keeps dropping whenever I open the Internet Explorer. I kept it though, because it is a nice laptop, especially for the price.

      • Javier

Susan and Babzko. I bought a lenovo and i had to delete this program from the computer in order for the wifi to work. =] Try calling Lenovo for help and they will help you.

        • Babzko

Javier, what program? IE? My friend was trying to help me by installing some driver, but it did not solve the problem πŸ˜•. I will call lenovo and see what happens. Thanks for the advise ☺️

Problem here is WOOT… no returns….

    • Claudia

Exactly! I would never buy something that costs that much from Woot. Read their terms, they pretty much tell you tough luck if there is a problem because they don’t want to hear about it.

Does this allow you to play DVDs ?

    • Laura

No. It’s have an optical drive

      • Laura

        oops^ Doesn’t have ^

I’m haven’t used this site or tried it but on Jet.com it says you can get this for $184.99 free shipping and First time users can get extra 20% off with code SUPRISE20 according to Retailmenot.com which will get you this item for less than $150 if I’m figuring it right.

    Has anyone used this site?

    I think it

    • Minion

I’ve used jet a few times and love it.
I’ve also ordered from woot before and products are what they advertise. We bought a leapster years ago for my son and it still works..

      • Jeanie

Do you know if Jet.Com stands behind their products and has good return policies?

Colin … Do you know if this deal on Jet.com is the same computer as the one on Woot? I get so confused with technology stuff. πŸ˜‰

I’m thinking of getting it to download my glucose meter to it so I’m hoping it has a USB port.

    • Jamey B

The one at jet.com (which has been a good site for me) is a chrome book (chrome os) and the one from woot is windows 10 os. Big difference! The windows os is an extra $100 . If you like the chrome operating system Walmart has this for $179. yes it has a usb port. This is a notebook which means it doesn’t have an optical drive. πŸ˜€

      • Jeanie

Thanks. I hate Windows 8. Lol. I am old school and like simplicity. Is that the only difference?

        • Jamey B

Windows 10 is way better than 8, and the chrome operating system (not to be confused with chrome explorer for windows) Chrome os is Linux based and not that great.

We bought this item from woot.com befioe christmas . It seems to be a sold computer. Smaller screen. My 15 year old likes it. However, it has a glitch and bumps her off our wi fi. We plan to take it to a local computer store to see what can be done. I cannot recommend woot. If you could get it for this $$ at a store with good customer service or computer support, then I coukd recoomend the product itself hth

    • susan

totally agree with you Cindy, we got one the same time before christmas and its one of the things that I regret buying it we have a lot of issues with the wi fi πŸ™

      • Shelby

I know it’s not ideal, but you might be able to work around this issue with an external USB Wi-Fi adapter.

  6. Jennifer

I had a ThinkPad for a year, wouldn’t buy another one. It was slow and would overheat just to name a few of the issues.

  7. Laura

You get what you pay for

  8. Ctm71

The one on Jet.com also has a much smaller SSD drive, but since it is a Chromebook that doesn’t really matter since you won’t be installing a bunch of programs.
