I think prime is worth every penny. I use the free shipping all the time and when I bought it, you could share your shipping benefits with other members of your family, so my Mom, live-in-boyfriend, sister-in-law and best friend all use my shipping benefits. Now, I believe that you all share credit card info with each other if you share benefits. Mine was not set-up that way. I don’t have Netflix or Hulu, so we stream movies from Amazon Prime and I have a kindle, so I like the free books that I get. Even with just the free shipping benefit, I think prime is worth it. If you choose the regular (also free w/prime) method of shipping instead of the free 2-day, they’ll often give you $1 credit for books, movies, or music. This year I’ve decided to keep track of how many of those I choose, b/c I feel like by the end of the year, my prime membership might actually be equal to that. We both work very long hours and are renovating our house in our spare time, so it is nice to do research on what we want to buy and order it from Amazon and have it delivered to our house in time for our next weekend project. We also don’t have time to chase down all the deals around town so I love when Collin tells us about Toilet Paper or tissue deals b/c I just have Amazon deliver them to me. You’ll find that once you add prime, you’ll start ordering more from Amazon and LOVE the convenience that it offers.
I think you can still share the shipping by setting up the Amazon household without sharing credit card. My mom just added me to her Prime account and the credit cards are NOT shared.

The can covers for pet food are $1 for a 3 pack everyday at Rite-Aid. They’re in the pet $1 section. They work really well and they work on several sizes of food. We use them on regular soup cans as well because our dog takes pumpkin in her food and the small can of pumpkin fits these.

Do you know if it’s possible to gift the Amazon Prime membership to yourself at the reduced price? I know last year that’s how I was able to do it but I don’t remember if it specified new members only that time.
To clarify I meant sending the prime membership to a “friend” as a gift but it’s actually to yourself.
I had the same question. Last year that worked, but the most recent discounted weekend (not this one) they made the discount unavailable for renewals that way. Not sure this time around though.
