Words Can Inpsire Hip2Save

Words are Powerful.

Whether spoken or written, words have the power to lift someone up or to quickly bring someone down. In this day and age, it is so easy to quickly and carelessly leave a nasty comment on a blog post or online forum without giving a second thought to the person on the other end (yes, there is another person – a human being on the other side of the computer).

Before you publish your words online, I encourage you to ask yourself:

Would I say these same words in person (i.e. face to face)?

Could the tone of my comment be misinterpreted? If yes, then consider rewording your comment to ensure it is interpreted as you intend.

Is my comment adding value to the blog post/forum? Will other readers gain insight from my comment? Will others be challenged in a positive way by my comment?

Should my comment be published on a public forum/blog for all to see or would it be better to email the author of the post directly with my concerns/questions?

I challenge you and I challenge myself to think long and hard about the words we write online. Let’s work hard to lift others up and to inspire others with our words. I hope you will join me in this challenge! <3

Last year when I was away with my family I saw a poster. It said
    Think about your words
    T-true
    H-helpful
    I-inspiring
    N-necessary
    K-kind

I was so inspired that I implemented it In my preschool classroom. The children learned to choose their words and negative things like tattling became nonexistent. The kindness and love was amazing and it kept growing

Cyber bullying is the worst. Here is the kicker, people think it is a problem with school /college going kids….. it is their PARENTS who do it on blogs, online forums, social media etc. Sad. So sad!! Thanks Collin for bringing this up.

Read the story at http://www.forouremma.com and follow #forouremma. You can’t have a mean feeling afterwards…be kind and pay it forward! Life is too short to be mean. Hug your loved ones today and everyday. Be nice to a stranger, you never know what someone is going through.

Thank you for posting this! There has been a time or two that I have posted a comment on a deal thread only to be crushed by someone elses mean spirited opinion on my comment. It kept me away for a while. I thought ,I can feel badly about myself without anyones help and mean spirited comments, why subject myself to it?? But I couldn’t stay away. Overall, I enjoy the H2S community. I appreciate your encouraging us all to practice kindness.

Thanks for posting this! Hip2save is the only website I comment on. Every other one is full of haters and internet trolls. My favorite thing about hip2save (besides the deals!) is how nice and supportive people here generally are!

Love this Collin! Your efforts to make this site a positive & inspiring online community are a big reason that this is my one and only blog/savings site that I visit (or stalk…lol)! 😉

I don’t know if anymore people are reading theses comments. But in case you are I have a positive story for today! A few weeks ago another hip2saver shared in order to cut down on costs on prescription medication to look on your medicine company’s website for discount savings coupons. I did look and found my medicine had a savings card! So now I save $40 a month on that one prescription. Thanks to that person and to the others who encourage and have other positive stories.

I’m still reading! Wonderful news on your monthly medicine savings! That’s over $400 a year! Collin and team – you make a positive difference in our lives. Thanks for all you do!

I read someplace and totally agree- teaching my kids that being kind (not happy) is the most important thing, because acts of kindness will make you and other happy, not always what makes you happy is kind.
Everyday while driving kids to school- letting people go ahead, stopping to remove garbage containers from the road, opening and holding doors- they remember!
