I felt totally cheap giving teachers $5 gift cards this year…how much do you Hip ladies spend on teacher gifts?
I am a substitute teacher so I see the trials and tribulations daily. Personally I give small gifts through the week. A cookie, cup of coffee, Chapstick etc. then end with a gift card of $10-20.
If I do a gift card it’s usually $5 to sonic, starbucks, etc. I also try to do a few little treats throughout the week…maybe peppermints in a jar one day, a granola bar & banana another, etc.

That’s not a cheap gift at all! It’s thoughtful, kind and practical. Maybe add a thank you card (Dollar Tree) with a small note or picture drawn by your child.
when you think about it….. $5 from a child…. if each child even gave a $5 gift… on average 20-30 kids in a classroom…. that’s $100-$150 being received – with just a $5 gift…. i wouldn’t think twice about it… the fact that children/families are giving anything lets the teachers know that the families/kids appreciate everything that they do for our children at school…. trust me…. i know what my daughter’s teacher has to put up with… lol – thankfully she says she has 3 of her own and “knows how to deal with it”…. but still….
As a teacher, that $5 can be a WONDERFUL pick me up. Please don’t feel bad for the amount of money you spend; it’s about thoughtfulness, not money. I am happy to get a nice note.

I normally spend $5-$10. It’s the thought not the price that counts😊. So I always try to be creative.
Last year I bought 3 Sonoma candles. They were on sale at kohl’s for $10 and I had a $10/$30 coupon. I attached a note to them saying “thanks for helping make my future bright”. Got all 3 teachers done for $20.

My son is in pre school as well with 4 teachers. I got them all donuts one morning with a tag that said I DONUT I’d without teachers like you. As a teacher my self I always love getting breakfast because I never have time to eat!

If you have a Panera nearby you can get a dozen (theirs is 13) bagels sliced on Tuesdays for $6.98 + tax. You can pay a bit more for extra cream cheese and pick up a gallon of orange juice or some coffee and that usually feeds our preschool staff. I have begun doing that for Christmas time and this time of year. Teachers usually love it!

I’m a junior high special education teacher and I normally receive $25 gift cards to Target or Starbucks. I’m at a Title 1 school which means 75% of students receive free or reduced lunch so I know my parents are working for the gift. I feel like parents know how hard I work for their kids and want to show their appreciate since I stay at work until 5pm daily to help kids after school with Hw or have meetings. Please keep in mind this is San Jose, CA where everything is expensive so that might be why they give so much too. But honestly, I know how much money I make so I only give my kids preschool teachers all $10 gift cards to target and a box of chocolate from Sees candy. But then again there are 5 teachers at the school and See’s isn’t cheap either. 😁👍🏼 I know I love hand written thank you letters and that goes a long way in a teacher’s book! I hope that helps.

I love sugar keepers. They are cheap, cute and so useful. Would these be a goofy idea to give as gifts? I am not crafty, so what could I do to make these into a cute gift?….Maybe just make cookies to go with them? (I use them for brown sugar, but I hear they work with cookies too.) I’m in my tenth year of teaching at a title 1 school and personally anything and everything is appreciated. My parents do what they can, the simple fact that they care enough to send anything makes me feel special. Hope that helps.

Also, please don’t forget your child’s special area teachers (music, art, library, pe, humanities, technology, etc). We might only see your child once a week, but often times we teach your child for years!

Did both of these ideas last year at the end of the year. Got great stuff at the dollar store. Teachers loved the gifts and the kids were so very excited to create and give these treasure chests of appreciation. It really made everyone feel so wonderful. Thank so much for this!!!
