These are so cute! My high school senior is making these jars for her friends, and will take them to grad parties in a few weeks. Her school colors are purple/white, so I picked up the purple Mason jars when they were posted as a deal on Amazon. She is rolling up $1 bills for diplomas, and she is using Smarties Candy Money in the jars. The Smarties Candy Money is available on Amazon, and they look like small coins.

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      That’s so great! Thanks Sheila

  5. JA

I made these last year and the grads I gave them too loved them and thought they were the coolest/cutest thing ever! Pair them with a candy lei (use Saran Wrap) and it’s candy and money, the perfect gift!! Especially for the guys ๐Ÿ˜

    • Dawn

Ps! I used embroidery floss instead of crepe paper and it looked perfectly perfect like a real mini tassel!

    • Kellie

Yeah. A big hit with guys especially. Gave my son candy Lei and he ate a lot of it on way home after graduation

I made this last year after seeing in on this site. It was for my neighbor’s son. I used a twenty dollar bill and fifteen one dollar bills… for 2015. He seemed to really appreciate it. My little ones helped to make it. They can’t wait to graduate and get one of their own! Thanks you Collin for such a great site!!

You could add come of the Presidential “dollar” coins along with the your 5’s, and 10’s, and 20 dollar bills. Could get pricey. But so adorable. I will be doing this for my son. He just graduated from college. I’m so proud of him. Two college graduates and two to go in about five years.

I cannot believe my baby is going to be a Sr already! Class of 2020!! I’m glad this showed up b/c I’m going to start saving dollars for his jar. Who knows how much will be in it by time next May rolls around!

I made this for my nieces grad party a few years ago. I also put some blank colored paper and gel pens with the ribbons for people to put messages, quotes and words of wisdom in as well as money. She really liked it. And the guests also liked it. It was full of notes and money by the end of the party.
