Nose Freida for suctioning stuffy babies. It’s a must have.

    • Judy

YES! Love our nose freida …. thought it was so weird, but it is amazing! Neil Med makes a version of it that was free after rebate

      • April

Couldn’t live without our nose Frieda! I’ll never use a regular bulb again

    • Teri

    • Debi

The “windi” by frida baby is also amazing for gassy babies.

    • krissy m. murphy

    • Keilyn

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS. try it! baby doesn’t like it but its soooo much better than the suction bulb. faster and way more effective!!!!!!

  2. Vivian

My first loooved his wubbanub- my 2nd didn’t care at all, they’re all so different! I love the gerber cloth diapers as burp cloths- they sell them at target. Couldn’t live without my Medella double electric pump and bebe au lait nursing cover that doubled as a blanket and stroller cover!

    • Kim

LOL, my first loved pacifiers and my second won’t touch them. He scowls at me and spits it out or acts like he’s choking on it when I tried to give him one. Although I still have my wubbanub because now that he’s a little older and teething he likes to hold onto it and chew on the rubber. At least it wasn’t a complete waste of money.

  3. ILuvH2S

    Bob stroller and ergo!!!

    • Danii

We are expecting our first and have purchased a bob and ergo 360 already as they were on killer sales! And we bought a 6 month old in perfect condition 4Moms MamaRoo at a garage sale for $100!!

  4. Jen

Rock n play hands down. It calmed my extremely fussy baby when he was a newborn. The ones on this list are definitely something I need for baby #2!

  5. Jess

I really really like my fresh squeeze system. Make your own pouches call them ice cream boom your 2 year old is eating spinach/carrots and mangos with no battle! Love it!!

    • Amy

  6. Kiwi

My Breast Friend is my must, if you breast feed.

    • Mp

Totally agree! I had a Boppy but it gave me backaches. Then my lactation consultant recommended My Brest Friend & it solved my problem.

  7. Nicole

Boppy pillow, nosefrieda, Beco carrier, Sophie the giraffe!

  8. Kim

These are my currwnt favorites: Fresh squeeze system (LOVE this! I even use it for making homemade apple sauce pouches for my 5 year old), nosefrieda, sophie the giraffe, rock and play, aden and anais dream blanket, aden and anais (or similar brand) muslin swaddle blankets (the bamboo ones are really soft!), boppy brand nursing cover (conveniently folds itself into a pouch) and the ergo 360 carrier.

    • Kim

      • Kim

Also JuJuBe diaper bags are amazing! I have the bff, hobobe, and the superbe. The hobobe is my absolute favorite! Don’t let the size fool you, it holds a ton if packed efficiently.

  9. Joy

My babies are almost 17 and 14, but I still use my Safety First dishwasher basket that I used for baby bottle nipples and sippy cup tops. Now I use it for sports bottle tops and other small items. Also, I still use our “boo boo bunnies” for those small bumps and bruises.

  10. Joy

I also recommend a small white noise machine. We still use ours!

    • Kim

If you have a smart phone consider downloading the white noise baby app (just type in white noise baby in google play and it should pop up). This app is hands down amazing. I can’t believe I forgot to mention it in my earlier comments! It has over 20 white noise sounds to choose from, plus lullaby music (such as beethoven, brahms, chopin, etc), it has a colorful noisy “rattle”, and it even has a timer function. It’s free and that way in case your LO doesn’t like the white noise you aren’t wasting any $$. Oh and since it’s on your phone it’s protable and great to use on car rides when baby gets fussy. My eight month old still uses it and it continues to help him calm down and helps him sleep at night.

      • rebecca

but then you can’t use your phone while you are trying to get the baby to sleep, right? or am i missing something? i would fear that as soon as my baby started to fall asleep that the phone might ring and freak the baby out. like if i was really over-tired and forgot to shut the ringer off before i left the room… or if i went to bed and left the phone in the baby’s room for the white noise app, then i wouldn’t have my phone.
this might work out well for babies who are rooming in with the parents, though.

        • Kim

Not sure if you’ll see this or not but the app has a baby mode setting that you can turn on which sets notifications and ringer to silent while it’s in use. I just leave my phone in the baby’s room to charge at night with the white noise going on a timer, usually about two hours or so.

          • rebecca

thank you, that “baby mode” would be a life-saver to keep the ringer from accidentally waking baby. i might try this for nap time.

      • Anna

You could use an old phone or ipod touch

    • Rebecca

Yes!!! White noise/sound machine saved our sanity! First born could (and still does!) sleep thru anything. Little brother is on the other extreme end of the spectrum. Never seen such a light sleeper! This is the only way he stays asleep (and hence, us too). He just turned 3, and I’m not sure when I should try to wean him off it, if I even should.

  11. Mella

Rock n play, boppy nursing pillow, pack n play with newborn napper, and those change table liners they sell at target in the 3 pack.

  12. Mandysfestival

K’tan baby wrap and ergo, carter’s swaddle blankets(extra stretchy), and rock n play

    • Mel

I loved my K’tan!! Used with both of my babies 😊

  13. Shannon

  14. Gretch

Rock n play, halo sleepsack, boppy pillow when nursing, ergo, swing

  15. Bethany

The halo sleep sacks have been a lifesaver for us! Our little one had the hardest time sleeping until we started swaddling him.

  16. Samantha

Mama Roo, Dr. Brown’s Bottles, Choome Pouch Tops!

  17. Erika

Any sort of baby carrier. Nose Frida. Pack n play or something to keep baby close to you for first months.

  18. Alese

My favorite thing is my lillebaby carrier. Fits babies from 7lbs up (no infant insert needed!). Comes with lumbar support & is so comfy!

  19. savingstacy

Both my kids loved their pacifiers. I highly recommend mypacifier.com you can put your baby’s name on it and choose from many different styles and colors.

  20. Yahi

Waterproof bibs!!! Everyone likes the ones that come with cute sayings and fancy designs but all of that doesn’t matter when your babies’ onesie is soaked. A Rock and play; this saved my life when my little one was a newborn. And lastly, a Baby bottle leash, it will save you money later on when your baby starts to throw his or her bottle when they’re finish with their milk.

  21. grrrowlgurl

Rock n play, boon suds bottle washer

  22. Maria

Rock n play, the double medela breast pump, and a Boppy since they can lay in it, use it for sitting up, and use it for breast feeding. Also, the stickers that take say the month of the baby and you take a picture each month isn’t necessary, but I loved to it, and looks very cool 🙂

    • Linda

I’ll add to your comment since you mentioned a double pump, reusable nursing pads. They will save you a ton of money, just pop them in the washing machine and reuse over and over. I wish I knew about them with my first , now using them with my second . They make organic cotton ones if anyone is concerned. I admit I can’t wear light weight t shirts in the summer since they are a bit bulky but they work.

      • rebecca

oh my gosh! that makes me think of something else! YES about the re-useable nursing pads! but here’s a tip- if you put them in a little mesh bag to wash them, it’s nice to keep them all together.
we had a new fancy HE front-load machine, and i had lots of the washable nursing pads, and we didn’t know it was “eating” one randomly every once in a while. well, several months after having my daughter it seemed like our washer was not working right, and the water wouldn’t drain fully during the loads, so my husband took it apart to check it out, and like 14 of those nursing pads were clogging it up!

  23. Jessie

A Líllébaby carrier! By far the best carrier (Ive owned several!) It makes life so much easier!

Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up floor seat (way better than the Bumbo!)

Most of that list of must haves I don’t think are useful (sorry!)

  24. Janine

Thanks for the recommendations! Expecting! 😘

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      How exciting! Congratulations! 🙂

  25. Em

Rock n play was a lifesaver for my intense high needs first baby! And the moby wrap and we love our Tula too! We had a seat from summer infant, similar to a bumbo, but more leg room for chunky babies, which was awesome and we used it for a long time as a booster seat at the table, too.

  26. krissy m. murphy

    Billions of burp cloths. Haha.

    • Mp

I have 5 kids & never used burp cloths. I breastfed & my kids never spit up. I breastfed a little at a time about every 2-3 hours day and night until about age 2. Maybe my kids never spat up was because they never ate a lot at a time. Idk

Another thing, I hated Boppy! I used MyBrestFriend for newborns. It’s amazing! Then nothing when kid can just sit on your lap.

  27. art

A big pile of rags. That’s the most used item ever. 😂

We are exclusively bottle feeding the newest once s/he arrives so I have been thinking hard about the baby keurig. That way I know the bottle is good, no matter who makes it.

  28. Alison

So many!!! Recently just discovered that my Pampered Chef Salad Dressing mixer works great for measuring, mixing, and storing formula (http://www.amazon.com/Pampered-Chef-Measure-Mix-Pour/dp/B000PKU1CW). The whisk gets all the formula chunks in the bottom for a perfect mix! I love my Chicco Bravo system, Graco swing, cloud b lamb sound machine, swaddle anything! I love my Skip Hop Grand Central Diaper Bag… Ummm I’m sure I’m missing a few things!

  29. Bekah

Auto rock n play was a lifesaver for our 2nd baby, who was always fussy and gassy. And some type of carrier. We have a Beco and Ergo. I always thought the Moby was too hot.

  30. Kelly

I guess I missed out because I never used (needed?) of these things when my kids were babies!

  31. Nikole

    Swing is a must

  32. Faith

I can’t believe no one mentioned Sock-Ons! I found these little things for like $6 at a consignment store display (available on Amazon also) and took a chance when my son was tiny and they work fantastic! They just slip on over baby’s socks and keep them from slipping down/off all day. It’s a small thing, but when you’re trying to keep that tiny baby in perfect condition it’s one less thing to think about…of course they’re no good once a kid is old enough to use his hands to pull a sock off, but until then they’re a must have!

  33. Lila

You and I have very different definitions of what’s a “must-have”. My LO is a toddler now and I didn’t need any of those things except for the sleepsack and a carrier (that I must have used 10 times tops)

  34. Christen

Diapers and wipes! (For overnight, from about 5 months on, Pampers Baby Dry were the only ones my boys didn’t leak through!)

  35. pnwremod

GroCia Magic stick. Amazing stuff and hands free! So worth it. Found online.

    • pnwremod

      GroVia. ^^auto correct. :-/

  36. Bessiek

I have a 2 y old and when he was born I reasearched/got everything that looked cool! Looking back I could do witout most things. But I still tell everyone about a few…my medela pump (free with health insurance by the way!!!!),boppy+1 extra cover, arms reach cosleeper (looooved this thing! Craigslist 20 $, but made night breastfeeding a breeze for 4 months, would buy it full price too), oxo wipes holder(not heated, still keeps wipes super moist forever!!!!), summer infant etc swaddled with velro (winter baby), seven slings baby carrier(after 3_4 months, till 12), a diaper changing mat (made every large bag a diaper bag, so I didn’t t need one and kept using Microsoft e), a nursing cover. My advice is to not go crazy cause each baby has its temperament. My son only took the paci they give at the hospital for maybe a month, never a bottle, the Fisher price swing was a saviour for naps for 4months but he hated it after that (other kids use it for a year), liked the exersaucer but not the jumperoo etc….so either get them as hand me downs, or to try, or craigslist if you can…oh, and of course a good but light baby car to carry around, (i used it with a snap and go instead of stroller for a long time, cause little ones love to sleep at the oddest times, like while you ‘re taking them to the store) and the car seat cover that looks like a shower cap ( the one that goes under baby isn’t safe) for the cold n.y. winter…sorry for the long post!

  37. Mp

I never introduced pacifiers to any of my 5 kids. I breastfed & didn’t want them to have nipple confusion. I was the human pacifier & comfort nursed as well. Still breastfeeding my youngest at 2 years old.
