I was able to get quite a bit of free food using this app, but not without a few hiccups. Here are some tips that I hope will help others…
Make sure to call ahead and see if your location accepts the app.
And if you’re trying to get your free burrito for signing up and it’s a Monday, be sure to call ahead and make sure you won’t have to purchase a drink because of Moe Monday. (I redeemed my “free” burrito on a Monday but was told that I had to pay $2 and change on a drink because it was Moe Monday).
Most importantly, if you have any problems at the cash register, probe a bit to make sure the cashier knows what he/she is doing/talking about. I had a new cashier claim that they weren’t set up to use the app, which was obviously false since I had used it at that location several times before. The scanner wasn’t working a couple of times, and they claimed that I wouldn’t be able to redeem my points, but showed them the code that was on my screen and asked if they could put it in manually. They did it AFTER I asked them to, and it worked. Another cashier even used the excuse that I was signed up for a different location, which was untrue.
I think some of the employees just don’t want to deal with the extra headache, but if they claim to be a participating location, and you spend your time downloading the app and driving over there, they need to hold up their end of the bargain. However, I’m sure most locations aren’t as iffy as mine.
