Amazon Prime Perks Hip2Save

Sure, Amazon Prime seems to have some great perks, but do you wonder if the $99 price tag is worth it? Some of these compelling benefits of an Amazon Prime subscription may just make the decision to sign up a little easier. And keep in mind that you can sign up for a FREE 30-Day Amazon Prime Trial here.

Also, if you’re looking to score Amazon Prime benefits for only certain times of the year (i.e. during the holidays or special occasions), don’t forget about Amazon’s monthly payment options! Amazon Prime is now offering the option to pay just $10.99/month for full Prime benefits OR $8.99/month for Prime Video.

Amazon Prime

Prime Shipping

One of my favorite Benefits of all! Score FREE Two-Day Shipping on millions of items!

Prime Now

Prime Now

So you may know that an Amazon Prime membership comes with free two-day shipping, but did you know that in select areas you can get your items in two hours? And for an additional $7.99, you can speed up that instant gratification to get your order in just one hour! The service is available from early morning to late evening in over 25 U.S. cities, with over 25,000 available items.

Free Same-Day Shipping

Free Same-Day Shipping

Even if your item isn’t available for free two-hour shipping, you may be able to take advantage of free same-day shipping. If your item is eligible, same-day shipping is available in nearly 30 cities and their surrounding areas, and you can expect to receive your order by 9 p.m.

Amazon Household

Amazon Household

With Amazon Household, you can share digital content and many features of your Prime membership with another adult. Set up a Family Library, which allows you to link two Amazon accounts and add profiles for up to four children so you can share eBooks, audiobooks, apps, and games. You’ll have to share your wallet (your Amazon payment info) with the other adult you link accounts with, but splitting the cost of membership can be a great way to make the subscription more affordable.

Amazon Family

Amazon Family MembershipA godsend for parents, Amazon Family gives Prime members 20% off of diapers when you use Subscribe & Save, a 15% discount on Amazon Baby Registry completion, and exclusive coupons and limited-time deals. Also, for as low as $2.99 per month, you can get access to Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, which offers books, educational apps, games, movies, and TV shows just for kids.

Speaking of the Amazon Baby Registry, did you know about all of these perks?

Amazon Baby RegistryIf you’re expecting or know someone who is, head on over to Amazon to create a FREE Amazon Baby Registry. You’ll be able to easily add products to your registry, making it simple for friends and family members to shop for you.

Baby Registry Perks

Baby Registry* 20% off all diaper subscriptions

* FREE welcome box filled with goodies for your little one! To receive your welcome box (valued at up to $35), create a baby registry and follow the steps required to receive the box. You’ll need to complete jumpstart (a list of categories you have to add), plus you will need to have $10 worth of items purchased from your registry.

* 10% Completion Discount 60 days before Baby’s Arrival Date to help with remaining registry items (or a 15% off Completion Discount if you are an Amazon Family member!)

* Free 90-day returns on Baby Store purchases

* Ability to add products to the registry from any website

 Prime Video and Add-On Subscriptions

Prime Video

You may be familiar with Amazon’s video-streaming service, which offers thousands of available movies and TV shows, Amazon Originals, and HBO’s entire back catalog of programming. But did you know that for an extra fee you can also add subscriptions to Showtime, Starz, and curated channels for more specific content, like History Channel’s Vault, Lifetime Movie Club, and Smithsonian Earth? You can even download selected titles on your compatible mobile devices to watch offline, which is a first for any major digital streaming service.

Prime Exclusive Savings in Video Games

Amazon Prime for GamersGot gamers in the family? Amazon Prime members get 20 percent off physical copies of video games from the pre-order period through two weeks after the game’s release. This is an especially good deal considering how difficult it is to find discounts on newly released games.

No-Rush Shipping Credit

Amazon Prime Shipping CreditsPatience is a virtue, and Amazon will reward you for it. If you don’t need your item quickly, choose “No-Rush Shipping” at checkout and receive a promotional credit toward a future purchase. There are specific limits on what you can use the credit for, depending on what you bought, but you can snag a credit for each order you give Amazon extra time to fulfill.

Unlimited Cloud Photo Storage

Unlimited Photo Storage Are you always maxing out the photo storage on your devices? Your Amazon Prime membership includes access to unlimited photo storage, with no restrictions on how many photos you can store or upload per month. Sweet!

Prime Music

Prime Music Rocking out while you’re cleaning the house requires good music. Prime Music offers unlimited, ad-free access to tons of songs, playlists, and even entire albums.

Free Kindle eBooks and Kindle First

Here are a couple of great features for all the bookworms out there: If you own a Kindle device, you’ll have access to a library of hundreds of thousands of eBooks you can borrow for free, with no return due dates or late fees. And with Kindle First, you can download one free eBook per month — and read it in advance of its release date — from a selection of Editor’s Picks, no Kindle device necessary.

If you don’t have a Kindle, keep in mind that you can still read books on your computer or other mobile devices with the FREE Kindle Reading Apps found here.

Prime Pantry

Prime Pantry Want to make fewer trips to the grocery store? For a flat delivery fee of $5.99 per box, you can have grocery, household, and pet care items shipped anywhere in the contiguous United States. Plus, Amazon Prime members are often offered $5.99 Prime Pantry shipping credits when they opt for no-rush shipping at checkout!

Can you share the 2day shipping aspect when you link with another adult?

    • ❌Fran

    • Melissa

I believe it’s only with another adult at your own shipping address.

      • Elizabeth

I send gifts to my family all the time using prime free-shipping. It is so nice because I have family in Alaska and it would cost almost $20 to send a medium priority box from Texas. Now I get free 4 day shipping to Alaska! I also was able to send a same-day free shipping gift to my sister in Baltimore! All that to say, no everything doesn’t have to ship to the same address!

I share with my two daughters and we all live at different addresses. We each have our own payment in the account.

    • Tanya

I share with my dad. We also live in different states. I’ve never noticed if we have access to each other’s payment methods, but my account hasn’t changed except I get all of his books now.

  2. Stephanie

So normally I LOVE amazon but I have had horrible luck lately. Almost all my packages are late–like DAYS late. It says guaranteed by a date and that day comes and goes. Its really frustrating since one of the main reasons for paying for Prime is for the fast shipping. Also, they have been marking things as delivered when they havent been. Granted that be the mail carriers but both things have been happening almost every order since the beginning of the year–even my subscribe and save items are late!!! Frustrating

    • Delilah

If you call orv email them to report the issues, they are very good about trying to make it up to you by extending your membership for 1 month for each occurrence. It doesn’t fix the problem, but it helps:)

      • Stephanie

The last time they said they wont extend my membership bc they have so many times (3) in the past! I was trying to say I dont want it extended I just want my guaranteed arrival date to be correct. They said they would try their best but that was it! Their customer service has gone down–or I am just really unlucky lol

        • YG

I sometimes want to cancel my “late” item and they decided to give me a refund and get to keep the item. can’t beat that!

        • Jenn

E-mail them again. You can request an extension up to 12 times in a year. So far I have yet to have any issues with their customer service. Hope this helps

    • karen

I had that delivery issue too. I contacted them about it and they said it’s a known issue they are working on and they extended my prime membership a month because of it.

    • Pamela

I always just email them ince it’s delivered after its late and tell them it didnt get here as promised and i got 7 months added onto my last years membership as a result.

    • Geri

The problem I have had isn’t with Amazon, it is usually with the post office… Our mail lady would mark things delivered because I would get the notification and we wouldn’t get them for a few days after that.

I don’t know if you are aware of this or not, but Amazon Prime has a partnership with Chegg. Chegg is a company that your can rent school books. If you have Amazon Prime, you get free 2 day shipping, as well. My husband gets all of his college books through chegg instead of the school bookstore. (Much cheaper)

    • Deb

I also love Chegg! But, before you ever place an order with them, search for a coupon code. You can save a ton of money beyond the usual savings Chegg provides.

      • Cari

        Good to know! Thank you!

  4. todd

I really wanna get Prime cause my son loves Netflix and with Prime its alittle cheaper for a year AND you get amazon 2 day free shipping but my problem is the kids movies and tv shows on amazon arent as good as netflix ones….what to do…what to do.

    • Stephanie

Most of the shows my son watches arent even free with Prime! Its frustrating

    • Maria

A lot of the stuff I want to watch, I have to pay for on prime to watch. 🤔 doesn’t that defeat the purpose?!

      • Kimberly

Netflix is way better! I rarely use amazon prime for movies or shows.

  5. tam

Do they no longer do price adjustments within 7 days of shipping if the price changes?

    • Robyn

Nope they only do price adjustments on electronics.

      • tam

Well that is a bummer I use to love that they offered this!

    • Jennifer

Unfortunately, not anymore. I was very disappointed to learn that myself the hard way.

  6. YG

I think prime is really worth it. I usually swagbucks it and redeem paypal for $100 ($25 x 4) so my prime is free. Definitely consider doing prime and pay for for it with swagbucks! I actually shop all stuffs on amazon using swagbucks gc hahahhaha … For the last 3 years already.

  7. Jennifer

Has anyone used the Freetime Unlimited that was mentioned? Im going on a long trip, would this be worth it for my daughter?

  8. Guest

I see you have another benefit Collin – a really cute mailman to deliver your packages. 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      LOL! 😀

  9. sann

Can you please share where you got your shirt in the first photo where you have the boxes around you? Its super cute!

  10. heather b

I didnt know about the unlimited cloud storage! Thanks for posting this Colin!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re so welcome!

  11. Tracy

Some of those Prime Pantry boxes are really thick and sturdy. We are reusing them for packing/moving.

  12. jeanette

You can use the $1 digital/kindle credit from no rush shipping to buy the digital version of video games. I always choose no rush shipping when this credit is offered and I save it up to buy a video game. I recently used these credits to buy the digital version of a wii u video game and it ended up being free. Just be aware that the credits do expire.

  13. Dorothy

There is one more plus you have forgotten. If you have an Amazon charge card linked to your prime then you save an additional 5% on every order.

  14. Meir

I also wanted to point out that if you have a Kindle reader or tablet then you can also use the Kindle Lending Library. This allows you to borrow 1 book each calendar month provided it is a book that is on their Lending Library list. I noticed that they don’t exactly broadcast this fact or make it so easy to find but if you have a Kindle and are interested in checking it out then this is how you go about borrowing a book (you have to search on the Kindle, you can’t do this on a PC or non-Amazon mobile device)

I found that the Kindle Lending Library location is different than older online sources say. To get to it on my reader which is a regular Kindle e-reader I click the store button (shopping cart icon) on top menu bar. On that next page click the 3 dots on the right corner of the menu bar to show more options. Further down on that list is the Kindle Owner’s Lending Library (7 items down)
    FAQ on borrowing KLL books:

Hope that helps some of our readers! I wasn’t using it at first but now I use it each month. You have to return the book you took out in order to take out next month’s selection but there is no due date so you can keep one book out for months or return one and take another one. When I return one I go to the Manage Your Devices section on (this part I do from my PC since it is much easier) and then I click the return checkbox next to the book’s name in my list of Kindle books. To take out another book I have to go back to my Kindle device.

Is the Baby registry only good for prime or family members or can someone without a membership do this and still get the baby welcome pack?
